Book Blogger Hop: What’s your proudest blogging milestone or achievement?

Book Blogger Hop (Final)

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, I relaunched the meme on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end on Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog. All credits & info go to this page <—

July 20th – 26th – What’s your proudest blogging milestone or achievement? (submitted by Cathy @ What Cathy Read Next)
divider 3
I have two proudest blogging milestones and achievements!

My first is that I created and made my own website (with the help of my wonderful husband of course!) amorettereviews.com! Huge, huge milestone for me because I am not tech savvy and I created everything myself so this site honestly feels like my baby!

My second proudest achievement was on May 24th 2017 when I got the email from Katy Evans that I was chosen to become one of her blogger team members. First of all, it was my first time EVER that any author has directly contacted me and asked me to do anything for them (example: promote or review) but on top of that…she asked me to become part of her blogger team! I was so excited because for the rest of my book blogging career I’m going to have access to all of her books and will always have the opportunity to review for her! How amazing is that?!

Those are my proudest milestones and achievements! If you are a book blogger or reader tell me some of your proudest milestones or achievements, I would love to hear them!

It's Monday! What Are You Reading.jpg
It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment, and er… add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye’s Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!

Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels, anything in the world of kidlit – join them!

Beth, who has more reason than anyone to despise him, is willing to give him a second chance. Now Beth has a choice to make—follow the rules, or risk tearing everything apart…again.

Blurb: I will not be ruled by fear.
A depraved emperor. A wasted realm. A dying race.
With Tyrrik by my side, I’ll lead the charge to remedy it all.

After discovering the rightful heir to the Phaetyn, an alliance with the healers should be easy as pancakes. But while the armies of Verald and Gemond march to the border for war, the emperor delivers a crushing blow that threatens to put everything at risk.

As I fight my father’s staggering power, I’m compelled to face evil on his terms. A twisted darkness worse than anything I’ve experienced. Nothing could’ve prepared me for this.
How far would you go to defeat a merciless sovereign?
I’ll lie to the liars.
I’ll betray the betrayers.
I’ll kill the killers.
I will conquer my fear.

Blurb: Bitsy: I might be only nineteen, but I know what I want. It’s Leka Moore. I don’t care that he took me in when he was barely more than a kid himself. I don’t care that he raised me. I don’t care everyone thinks being with him is wrong. I know we belong together, and the only person I need to convince is him.

Leka: I found her in the corner of a dark alley. If I hadn’t taken her with me, she would’ve died that night—or maybe worse. Before I knew it, she became the light in my dark life, the haven from the madness. I watched her grow up. I tried to teach her right from wrong. Now that she’s an adult, I’m feeling things that no good man should ever feel. But then…I’ve never been a good man. I have a chance at redemption by saving her from the greatest danger of all—me.

Playboy-Amazon
Blurb:
It started as a game. We flirted. We played. Most importantly—we won.
Then I discovered who he was: Gambler. Famous playboy. Silver-eyed player who never plays to lose. …And my best friend’s soon-to-be brother in law, Cullen Carmichael.
He needed a good luck charm, I needed a distraction.
So we made a gamble and set off for Vegas—but pretty soon—I was in too deep.
My heart, soul, and body weren’t supposed to be part of the deal.
But somewhere between big wins and long nights, my house of cards started to tumble.
What was this devil with those piercing eyes doing to me?
I’d given up on love, but the wicked, all-in Cullen Carmichael was upping the ante and wouldn’t stop until he’d won it all.

Blurb: Returning home for her father’s wedding was never going to be easy for Adele. If being sent away at eighteen hadn’t been bad enough, the mess she left behind when she made a pass at her dad’s business partner sure was.

Fifteen years older than her, Pete had been her crush for as long as she could remember. But she’d misread the situation—confusing friendliness for undying love. Awkward. Add her father to the misunderstanding, and Pete had been left with a broken nose and a business on the edge of ruin. The man had to be just as glad as everyone else when she left town.

Seven years on, things are different. Adele is no longer a kid, but a fully grown adult more than capable of getting through the wedding and being polite. But all it takes is seeing him again to bring back all those old feelings. Sometimes first loves are the truest.

Top Ten Tuesday: Best Books I’ve Read So Far This Year

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish in June 2010 out of a love of lists. In January of 2018 we decided it was time to close our doors. Top Ten Tuesday now lives with Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl.divider 3

For this Top Ten Tuesday I’m focusing on my top picks for the best books I’ve read so far this year!

10. Escort by Skye Warren
escort.jpg
Blurb: There is no shame in pleasure. And no love in business.
I have a blind date tonight, and I know with 100% certainty that I’m getting lucky. There shouldn’t be any surprises, not for one as jaded as me, but when I walk into the penthouse suite of L’Etoile, everything changes.

1) For one thing, Bea is heartstoppingly gorgeous. Pale green eyes and endless freckles. Curves I want to spend all night exploring, as if her body was made for me.

2) Her innocence makes me want to use my entire inventory of bedroom tricks on her and then invent a few more.

3) Except that . . . she’s a virgin.

I can initiate her into the world of desire without letting her get attached, can’t I? A few hours of tutoring, and at the end of the night a small fortune will be deposited into my bank account.Yes, you read that right. There are many words for what I do. After all, mine is the oldest profession. I’m an escort, which means this date is nothing more than a mutually enjoyable transaction. But once I realize one night with her won’t be enough, I’m the one who’s screwed.

My thoughts: This was my first Skye Warren book and I was truly blown away by how talented she is. I loved the story and Escort took a hold of my heart and ran away with it! Check out the buy links below & the link for my review!

#9 Sinner by Sierra Simone
29197206_2069527846660541_4480355144105459712_o
Blurb: I’m not a good man, and I’ve never pretended to be. I don’t believe in goodness or God or any happy ending that isn’t paid for in advance.

What do I believe in? Money. Sex. Macallan 18.
They have words for men like me—playboy. Womanizer. Skirt chaser.

My brother used to be a priest, and he only has one word for me.
Sinner.

My thoughts: Sierra Simone is one of the best writers in the romance genre book world period, so it’s no surprise that Sinner makes the list! A mix of enthralling, sexual energy with emotional ties Sinner is definitely one Sierra Simone’s best. Check out the buy links below & the link for my review!

#8 Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas
Teaser-1 (2)
Blurb: JORDAN: He took me in when I had nowhere else to go.
He doesn’t use me, hurt me, or forget about me. He doesn’t treat me like I’m nothing, take me for granted, or make me feel unsafe.
He remembers me, laughs with me, and looks at me. He listens to me, protects me, and sees me. I can feel his eyes on me over the breakfast table, and my heart pumps so hard when I hear him pull in the driveway after work.
I have to stop this. It can’t happen.
My sister once told me there are no good men, and if you find one, he’s probably unavailable.
Only Pike Lawson isn’t the unavailable one. I am.

PIKE: I took her in, because I thought I was helping.
She’d cook a few meals and clean up a little. It was an easy arrangement.
As the days go by, though, it’s becoming anything but easy. I have to stop my mind from drifting to her and stop holding my breath every time I bump into her in the house. I can’t touch her, and I shouldn’t want to.
The more I find my path crossing hers, though, the more she’s becoming a part of me.
But we’re not free to give into this. She’s nineteen, and I’m thirty-eight.
And her boyfriend’s father.
Unfortunately, they both just moved into my house.
*BIRTHDAY GIRL is a stand-alone, contemporary romance suitable for ages 18+.

My thoughts: Maybe it’s because there’s an age difference in my marriage but I am complete sucker for age gap romances. Especially forbidden ones too. The plot was super interesting with a touch of drama and of course lots and lots sexual tension. Douglas’ sense of humor is great too. Definitely one of my favorite age gap difference romances ever. Check out the buy links below & the link for my review!

#7 The Swedish Prince by Karina Halle
s1
Blurb: I never believed in fairy-tales. Never held out for Prince Charming.
Growing up poor in small-town California as the oldest of six siblings, I knew I would never ride off into the sunset with anyone. That was even more apparent when a senseless tragedy took the lives of my parents, forcing me to become the sole guardian of our dysfunctional household at the mere age of twenty-three.

Then a fateful encounter literally brought Prince Charming to my dusty doorstep. At first I thought Viktor was just your average businessman passing through, albeit obscenely handsome, six-foot-five, blue-eyed, and mysteriously rich.

But soon I discovered the truth behind Viktor’s façade. Beneath his quiet, enigmatic gaze and cocky charm, is a man who is running away from who he really is. A role he’d rather not fulfill.

He is Viktor of House Nordin, His Royal Highness, The Crown Prince of Sweden.
Yet uncovering Viktor’s secret was only the first step.
I didn’t expect to fall in love with him.
I didn’t expect to have my whole life turned upside down.
When you’re from two different worlds, can your hearts meet somewhere in the middle?
Or do happily-ever-afters only exist in fairy-tales?
The Swedish Prince is a standalone romance inspired by Roman Holiday.

My thoughts: Besides the horrible cover, I really loved The Swedish Prince. I’ve been trying to expand my reading with authors and this was my first Karina Halle book! She’s funny and has a different sense of writing style than what I’m used to that I really liked. Her characters have this crazy, magnetic chemistry that made me fall head over heels for them! Check out the buy links below & the link for my review!

#6 Blood Oath by Raye Wagner & Kelly St. Clare
blood oath
Blurb: Everything I know is a lie.
I’m an ordinary mortal girl. Lord Irrik is a depraved dragon shifter. King Irdelron is an immortal tyrant. In the disease ridden land of Verald, life is mapped out much like the established rings of our kingdom. Everyone has a role…
Me? I’ll be uselessly serving potato stew for the rest of my life because I can’t make anything grow. But starvation brews rebellion.
When the king strikes, I’m captured by Lord Irrik. Instantly, I’m embroiled in a deadly game. One where I’m desperate to understand the rules. Because nothing makes sense anymore. Now, I’m not only fighting for my life . . . but a love that could be the key to my freedom. What if the truth means you’re not who — or what — you thought you were?

My thoughts: I’ve been really getting back in YA/Mature YA and thanks to Kindle Unlimited I found Blood Oath and was just blown away! I love romance books so much, but there is nothing better than a good YA/Mature YA, fantasy, romance read! Definitely one of my favorite reads of the two and I loved the second book, Shadow Wings too! Check out the buy links below and links to both of my reviews!

#5 A Court Of Frost & Starlight by Sarah J. Maas
A Court Of Frost & Starlight
Blurb: A companion tale to Sarah J. Maas’s #1 New York Times bestselling A Court of Thorns and Roses series that takes place several months after the explosive events of A Court of Wings and Ruin Narrated by Feyre and Rhysand, this story bridges the events in A Court of Wings and Ruin and the upcoming novels in the series. Feyre, Rhys and their companions are still busy rebuilding the Night Court and the vastly changed world beyond. But Winter Solstice is finally near, and with it a hard-earned reprieve. Yet even the festive atmosphere can’t keep the shadows of the past from looming. As Feyre navigates her first Winter Solstice as High Lady, she finds that those dearest to her have more wounds than she anticipated – scars that will have a far-reaching impact on the future of their court.

My thoughts: There was A LOT of thoughts (both good and bad but mainly bad to be honest) on A Court Of Frost & Starlight but I really loved it. I thought it answered a lot of lingering questions from A Court Of Wings & Ruin, wrapped up things nicely for Rhys and Feyre and set things up for the future books. Also, it was a NOVELLA and just some of the reviews I read were just ridiculous to me, you are going put out that much negativity for a novella? Really? Craziness. Check out the buy links below & the link for my review!

#4 Pestilence The Four Horsemen by Laura Thalassa
pestilience
Blurb: They came to earth—Pestilence, War, Famine, Death—four horsemen riding their screaming steeds, racing to the corners of the world. Four horsemen with the power to destroy all of humanity. They came to earth, and they came to end us all.

When Pestilence comes for Sara Burn’s town, one thing is certain: everyone she knows and loves is marked for death. Unless, of course, the angelic-looking horseman is stopped, which is exactly what Sara has in mind when she shoots the unholy beast off his steed. Too bad no one told her Pestilence can’t be killed.

Now the horseman, very much alive and very pissed off, has taken her prisoner, and he’s eager to make her suffer. Only, the longer she’s with him, the more uncertain she is about his true feelings towards her … and hers towards him.
And now, well, Sara might still be able to save the world, but in order to do so, she’ll have to sacrifice her heart in the process.

My thoughts: Pestilence was another book I found on Kindle Unlimited and OH MY GOODNESS. Again, I was completely blown away! Apparently 2018 is the year of getting back into science fiction/fantasy books again because Pestilence was EVERYTHING. I seriously need the second book War RIGHT MEOW. In all seriousness though, if you love science fiction, fantasy, post apocalyptic books with romance mixed in, Pestilence is for you. Check out the buy links below & the link for my review!

#3 Filthy Gods by R. ScarlettFilthy Gods
Blurb: Young. Wealthy. Elite. Attractive. The gentlemen’s secret society at Yale was filled with them. And Nathaniel Radcliffe, the bane of my existence, was one of them.

As the right hand of the American Gods, he was conceited and arrogant. A dangerously handsome man in a tailored custom suit and shiny black oxford loafers.

The classroom was our battlefield. We made a sport out of arguing and debating, ready to do anything in order to win over the other.

Deadly opponents, deadlier minds.
I’d sworn I’d never give him the upper hand, until…
The secret I’ve been hiding for the last three years?
He just discovered it…and now he has all the power.

My thoughts: Filthy Gods is a novella and the prequel for the Filthy Gods series. This was my first R. Scarlett book and before I heard nothing but good things and dang, she did NOT disappoint. Scarlett is an amazing writer that completely transported me into the world of the Filthy Gods and I am honestly so hyped for the rest of the series!

#2 The Fallen World series by Laura Thalassa
Untitled
Blurb: In the future, the world is at war. For the last decade, King Lazuli of the Eastern Empire has systematically taken over the world. No one knows much about him other than a series of impossible facts: he cannot die, he has not aged since the conflict began, and he wants to rule the world.

All Serenity Freeman has known is bloodshed. War has taken away her mother, her home, her safety. As the future emissary of the Western United Nations, the last autonomous region of the globe, she is responsible for forging alliances where she can.

Surrender is on the horizon. The king can taste it; Serenity feels it deep within her bones. There is no other option. Now the two must come face to face. For Serenity, that means confronting the man who’s taken everything from her. For the king, it means meeting the one woman he can’t conquer. But when they meet, something happens. Cruelty finds redemption. Only in war, everything comes with a price. Especially love.

My thoughts: Once I finished Pestilence by Laura Thalassa I needed more of her magical books so I borrowed The entire The Fallen World series through Kindle Unlimited. I was not prepared for how fast and hard I fell for these books. Serenity and Montes are one of the best couples I have ever read about and honestly I don’t think three books were enough to do them justice! Again if you love science fiction, fantasy, post apocalyptic books with romance mixed in, this book series is for you! I haven’t written an official review yet (I want to read them again!) but definitely check them out with the buy links below!

#1 Mogul by Katy Evans
mogulBlurb: He’s my most delicious secret.
The hot Suit I had a one-night stand with one evening.
I didn’t know anything about him, not even his name.
Only that we shared a taxi, and he was staying at the hotel where I worked.
We met in room 1103. Where he commanded not only my body but my soul.
The next day he was gone and I only had a memory of him.
I could still taste his kisses, feel his demanding touch.
I searched for him for months. Daydreaming about him. Wondering if I’d ever find him.
Until the day I find myself staring face to face with his jeweled black eyes again.
He says lets keep it casual, and my heart knows that falling for this workaholic in a three-thousand-dollar suit is off the table.
Because he has a secret. One that’s a deal breaker for me.
My Suit has a name. Ian Ford. And this is our story.
*Mogul contains characters from Tycoon, but is written to be read as a standalone.*

My thoughts: It shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that follows this blog that my #1 pick for the Top Ten Books of the year so far is Mogul by Katy Evans. Mogul was just so different from her other books and I really, really loved the change! It was still Katy but just different. Definitely one of my favorite standalones and a book you need to put on your TBR!

Top 5 Wednesday: Best Sports Romance Books

Top 5 Wednesday @ Goodreads (moderated by Lainey) – Each week is a different topic to pick 5 of your favorite/best for. There are a lot of topics but this week I wanted to focus on Sports Romance and talk about my favorite ones!

#5 Lucky by Carina Adams
carina
My thoughts: I don’t like football, at all. HOWEVER there is something about sports romance books that focus on football that I actually really like! Weird I know, but bare with me please! Lucky was a huge surprise for me but I loved this story and Adams is a fantastic writer with a great sense of humor. Not to mention the chemistry between Sunshine and Lucian is electric hot and the way they meet is just hilarious but I won’t spoil it for you. Lucien is also super, super sexy and honestly he just made me swoon! If you’re a fan of sports romance and football romance, you definitely need to read or add Lucky to your TBR list!

Blurb: Everyone loves Lucky # 7.
He’s the whole package – smart, athletic, and sexy as sin.
A filthy talking bad boy, he can have any woman he wants.

Except me. A chance encounter. One unforgettable night.
That’s all we could ever have. At least, that’s what we tell ourselves.
Fate has other plans.

If anyone found out, I would lose my job.
He could lose his scholarship.
Some things are worth the risk.

Sometimes, you have to cross your fingers,

Roll the dice, and hope lady luck is on your side.

About the Author: Carina Adams has been writing and creating characters for as long as she can remember, allowing her to fall in love with the next man of her dreams with every new story. Thankfully, fate stepped in and granted her the ultimate wish – a life full of men. Carina lives in a picturesque New England town with her husband, the man who ruined the thought of all others, and two amazing sons who always keep her on her toes.

Carina received her MBA in May, but would much rather play with her imaginary friends (the voices in her head) than work her 8 to 5. When she isn’t trying to juggle being a working mom with karate and football practices, surprising her children with her sci-fi movie knowledge, or writing, you can find her with her nose pressed against her kindle, laughing with friends, or living life vicariously as her Derby Girl persona, Writers Block.

Carina is the author the of Bastards MC series and best selling Forever Red. She is currently writing Out of The Blue, the follow up to Forever Red. She loves to hear feedback from her readers, no matter what type. You can email her at: carinaadamswrites@gmail.com

#4: Home Run King by Stacey Lynn
HomeRunKing_ecover
My thoughts: I was SO excited when I first signed up to review Home Run King because honestly besides football, there wasn’t a lot of versatility when it came to sports romance and a lot of books were focused on just football. So when I saw that Stella was releasing a sports romance book about baseball, I was pumped! Home Run King was such a sweet, funny read and I love books that focus on blossoming relationships. Most of the time you start a book and BOOM! The couple are suddenly in love which isn’t the case for this book and I really liked that change.

Blurb: My life was what country songs are made of: my Granny died, my girlfriend broke up with me, I knocked up her cousin, and I was inducted into the Major League Hall of Fame. Yup…just like every country song I’ve ever heard.

But let me start over…my name is Gage Nix. That’s all you need to know. Actually, there’s a lot more to Gage than meets the eye. My name’s Katie Crisp, and I had a front row seat and the inside scoop. In a moment of grief and desperation, I allowed the Home Run King to…well, hit a home run on my diamond. He not only knocked it out of the park, but he also knocked me up.

Raising two babies—the one I was carrying, and Gage—wasn’t what I signed up for. But he gave me no choice. I only wish I hadn’t waited until the end of the season to see that he was my MVP. Oh, and the only hall of fame he’s ever been inducted into is his own.

#3 Filthy Player by Stacey LynnFlithyPlayer-ANMy thoughts: Again another football sports romance but another favorite of mine! Stacey Lynn has this wonderful way of mixing real life problems within her books and it’s so relatable that it makes me feel closer to her characters. Beaux and Paige are one of my favorite fictional contemporary romance couples EVER and Beaux is one steamy, dirty talking, kind man. Definitely one of my favorites and there are other books in the series too!

Blurb: The Raleigh Rough Riders are back, and this time Super Bowl Quarterback Beaux Hale finds himself playing the most important game of his life.

Every woman knows Beaux Hale is nothing but a player. Yet the first time he walks into Paige Halloway’s restaurant and flashes his sexy grin, she feels a heat between them spark. Too bad he opens his mouth and ruins it.

He may think his money, fame, and sexy looks will attract any woman—but he’s wrong.Paige doesn’t have time for a man. She’s too busy keeping a roof over her head and taking care of her father to care about relationships.

Lucky for Beaux, he’s a man who’s ready to use all the plays at his disposal. He didn’t bring his team a Super Bowl victory by giving up at the first block in his path—and Paige Halloway has just become his new long-game. Beaux also knows that sometimes, in order to win and claim your prize, you have to get a little bit filthy.

About the Author: Stacey Lynn currently lives in Minnesota with her husband and four children. When she’s not conquering mountains of laundry and fighting a war against dust bunnies and cracker crumbs, you can find her playing with her children, curled up on the couch with a good book, or on the boat with her family enjoying Minnesota’s beautiful, yet too short, summer.

She lives off her daily pot of coffee, can only write with a bowlful of Skittles nearby, and has been in love with romance novels since before she could drive herself to the library.

#2 Team Player A Christmas Anthology
TeamPlayerBookCover6x9_MEDIUM
My thoughts: Team Player is a great sports romance read because it is a long read but includes so many different kinds of sports! Baseball, football, MMA fighters, hockey, oh my! Lots of different stories and lots of love storys and hunks to swoon over. Perfect for anyone who wants a little taste of everything when it comes to sports romance.

Blurb: Hot jocks. We love them all. Sexy baseball players. Intense footballers. Sweaty MMA fighters, and sizzling hockey hotties. Score!

The good news? Eleven bestselling authors have gathered to give you a set of stories focused on the men we love most—sports heroes. We bet you’ll love this thick…book. The bad news? The men in these novellas don’t actually exist.

*This anthology does not contain calories, just eleven original, never-before-seen stories by the following authors: Adriana Locke, Mandi Beck, Charleigh Rose, Kennedy Ryan, LJ Shen, Meghan Quinn, Rochelle Paige, Ella Fox, Kate Stewart, Emma Scott, and Sara Ney. #1 Real by Katy Evans
real
My thoughts: If you read my blog and reviews, you should KNOW that I am a Katy Evans fangirl. I’m not afraid to admit it, I am! So it shouldn’t be a surprise to you that Real by Katy Evans is #1 for my Top 5 Wednesday Sports Romance. I love Remington Tate so much, he is the embodiment of athleticism, health goals and oozes sex appeal by just looking at you. Real is my favorite book of all time and every romance reader/sports romance lover should read Real!

Blurb: Remington Tate has a bad-boy rep in and out of the ring, a granite-hard body, and a raw, animal power that sends his female fans into a frenzy. But from the moment their eyes lock, the only woman he wants is Brooke Dumas. His desire is pure, all-consuming, and REAL.

Hired to keep his perfect body working like a machine, Brooke finally has the lucrative sports therapy job she’s been dreaming of. But as she tours the dangerous underground fighting circuit with Remy and his team, Brooke’s own body becomes alive with the most primal of hungers. If what happens between Brooke and Remy is ever as light as a flirtation, it quickly becomes an erotic obsession for them both, and promises so much more.

But their white-hot lust has a dark side—and when Remy’s deepest secret comes to light and Brooke’s familial duties demand action, will the pair be able to hang on, or will everything that once seemed so real suddenly fade away like an illusion?

Monthly Series Mention: The Stage Dive Series by Kylie Scott

Sometimes I like to pick out competed series because let’s be honest, no one likes waiting around for books! So I thought why not review a completed series? I used to do this all the time when my blog was on blogger instead of wordpress but I’m bringing it back! For May I am choosing the Stage Dive series by the fabulous Kylie Scott! I am so excited to share this series with you guys! It is one of my absolute favorite series with characters and stories that I adore. Kylie is incredibly funny, the kind of funny that makes you laugh out loud days later after finishing one of her books. Something else that I really admire about Kylie’s writing is the fact that she has diverse female heroines, especially with their looks. Newsflash, not every woman in this world is size two and that is something that is evident in the Stage Dive series which I really appreciate. I love all of the stories, characters in this series and speaking of characters, the chemistry between these characters in this series,!! Oh my goodness you guys! I can guarantee you are going to fall head over heels just like I did! So let’s dive in!
Stage.dive-series-1024x370.png
The CoverThe Stage Dive series has some of my favorite covers EVER. I tend to either love or hate a cover, there is no in between and I’m very picky when it comes to book covers. Frankly, sometimes people only buy books based on covers so I think it’s important for authors nowadays to have kick ass covers that relate to their story and characters. The Stage Dive series does this perfectly; each book represents different members of the band Stage Dive, Lick represents David (the guitarist), Play represents Mal(the drummer), Lead represents Jimmy(the singer) and Deep represents Ben(the bassiest). My favorite cover is Play because I love Mal and the story within Play very much. A+ covers guys!

Basics: The Stage Dive series is a total of four books, usually between 300 and 200 pages long. Lick is the first book, followed by Play, then Lead and ending with Deep. The books were published between November 2013 and March 2015. They were published by St. Martin’s Griffin. Genre wise The Stage Dive series belongs to contemporary romance.

Description: LicK: Waking up in Vegas was never meant to be like this.

Evelyn Thomas’s plans for celebrating her twenty-first birthday in Las Vegas were big. Huge. But she sure never meant to wake up on the bathroom floor with a hangover to rival the black plague, a very attractive half-naked tattooed man in her room, and a diamond on her finger large enough to scare King Kong. Now if she could just remember how it all happened. One thing is certain, being married to one of the hottest rock stars on the planet is sure to be a wild ride.

***Note: I’m only going to post the description of Lick, all of the characters in each other (but especially in Lick) are all intertwined so I don’t want to spoil anything for future readers! ***
lick-teaser.jpg
Overall thoughts: The Stage Dive series is such a fun series full of bad situations with bad pasts and history, but it’s lovely and interesting to read about how hot rocker male’s fall in love fighting falling in love or just falling in love and overcoming their demons and hardships. Kylie Scott writes beautifully, her writing is laugh out loud funny and the romance is perfect and steamy. I think everyone can relate to several situations and characters in this series which is one of the reasons why I love it so much, I felt connected to the books. These books will have a piece of my heart forever and I hope the Stage Dive series touches you the way it has touched me.

Character Chemistry Rating 5/5 Shells

Favorite Quotes:
“Love isn’t always smooth or straightforward. It can be messy and painful … Doesn’t mean it isn’t still the most incredible thing that can ever happen to you.” -Lick

“We’ve broken my bed,” I said, stating the obvious.
“In battle, sacrifices must be made, pumpkin.” -Play

“The truth is, I’m all about you, Lena. You’re my best friend. You’re my girl.” -Lead

“Dicks don’t have brains. It’s why men get into trouble” -Deep

Wicked by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Blurb: Things are about to get Wicked in New Orleans.

Her duty to the Order is her life. After all, four years ago, she lost everything at the hands of the creatures she’d sworn to hunt, tearing her world and her heart apart.

Ren Owens is the last person Ivy expected to enter her rigidly controlled life. He’s six feet and three inches of temptation and swoon-inducing charm. With forest-green eyes and a smile that’s surely left a stream of broken hearts in its wake, he has an uncanny, almost unnatural ability to make her yearn for everything he has to offer. But letting him in is as dangerous as hunting the cold-blooded killers stalking the streets. Losing the boy she loved once before had nearly destroyed her, but the sparking tension that grows between them becomes impossible for Ivy to deny. Deep down, she wants… she needs more than what her duty demands of her, what her past has shaped for her.

But as Ivy grows closer to Ren, she realizes she’s not the only one carrying secrets that could shatter the frail bond between them. There’s something he’s not telling her, and one thing is for certain. She’s no longer sure what is more dangerous to her—the ancient beings threatening to take over the town or the man demanding to lay claim to her heart and her soul.

Waiting on Wednesday

Hello friends! It’s been a hot minute since I’ve done a book blogging meme post! Waiting On Wednesday is a book blogging meme that was first started by the book blog Breaking the Spine. It describes a book/books you are waiting to read and haven’t been released and for this entry I have a few to share with you!

Blurb: Narrated by Feyre and Rhysand, this bridges the events in A Court of Wings and Ruin and the upcoming novels in the series.

Feyre, Rhys, and their close-knit circle of friends are still busy rebuilding the Night Court and the vastly-changed world beyond. But Winter Solstice is finally near, and with it, a hard-earned reprieve. Yet even the festive atmosphere can’t keep the shadows of the past from looming. As Feyre navigates her first Winter Solstice as High Lady, she finds that those dearest to her have more wounds than she anticipated–scars that will have far-reaching impact on the future of their Court.

Blurb: He’s my most delicious secret.
The hot Suit I had a one-night stand with one evening.
I didn’t know anything about him, not even his name.
Only that we shared a taxi, and he was staying at the hotel where I worked.
We met in room 301.

I don’t know about you but I am SUPER impatient when it comes to waiting for books, that’s my main issue with Young Adult books. You read one and you have to wait up to a year or longer for the next one which I think is kind of crazy to be honest. At least with romance books you only have to wait a few months or probably even less. I think the longest I’ve waited for a romance book was was six months which is pretty much my limit. Anyway, what book or books are you waiting on this Wednesday? Let me know!

Review: Overall Review of January Books 2018

Can you freaking BELIEVE that January is basically over? Like….already? It’s over! I mean doesn’t it feel like January 7th or something? Where did the time go? To be honest I didn’t read as much as I wanted to this month but the books I did read were pretty good!
january review.png
I had the opportunity to read and review three ARC’S this month. All three books were very different and I enjoyed all of them. First up was Prince Charming by CD Reiss, a book about an FBI agent falling in love with a hacker and it was the surprise book of the month for me. There is something about couples that aren’t supposed to be together, that forbidden aspect of their relationship is very attractive to me and spices up the story and makes me want to keep reading till I finish the book. I high recommend Prince Charming by CD Reiss and if you aren’t sold on it yet, please check out my review with all the buy links here <—

prince-charming-TEASER-carved
My second ARC of January was Fake Wife by Stacey Lynn. There are tons of tropes in the romance book world and being in a fake relationship/marriage but eventually falling for each other is a huge one for the romance book world. When it’s done right and written well it works, but not always and I adore Stacey Lynn but I was worried Fake Wife wouldn’t deliver. But I was wrong and Fake Wife was well written with some pleasant surprises and I thought it was great read. If you’re interested in reading and buying Fake Wife, please check out my review with all the buy links here <—

My third ARC for January was Midnight Blue by LJ Shen. She is one of the best writers in the romance book world hands down, but man do her male characters drive me up the dang wall! BUT LJ Shen is a master storyteller and I was able to get over my annoyance with Alex freaking Winslow. Midnight Blue is a story about an ordinary girl dealing with a life long tragedy hired to deal with the hot mess rocker that is Alex Winslow. What could go wrong and what could go right? Check out my review and the buy links for Midnight Blue here <—-
MidnightBlue-AN

And as to other books I’ve been reading this month? To be honest I’ve been doing a lot of re-reading of books I’ve read before! I’m currently re-reading A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas so I can properly write reviews for them. I’ve also been been re-reading Priest by Sierra Simone since the the sequel Sinner will be out in March. But the one book that was new that came out this month that I want to talk about is Fire In His Fury by Ruby Dixon.
fire.jpg
Let’s talk about dragons shall we? First of all, I don’t know about you but I all about paranormal, sci-fi and especially post apocalyptic books, add romance to those genres and I am SOLD. Ruby Dixon is the QUEEN of everything sci-fi, she stole my heart with Ice Planet Barbarians series but she completely owned my heart when she came out with a series about DRAGONS. I am a huge nerd, I love fiction and fantasy and her Fireblood Dragon romance books just blow me away. There are four books total in the series so far and Fire in His Fury just came out a few weeks ago. I loved it of course and honestly I wish Ruby Dixon would ditch the Barbarians and just focus on her dragons I am that hooked! Anyway, I haven’t written reviews on this series but I might soon! Here is a blurb for the first book and the link to Ruby’s website!

Fire In His Blood: Years ago, the skies ripped open and the world was destroyed in fire and ash. Dragons – once creatures of legend – are the enemy. Vicious and unpredictable, they rule the skies of the ruined cities, forcing humanity to huddle behind barricades for safety.

Claudia’s a survivor. She scrapes by as best as she can in a hard, dangerous world. When she runs afoul of the law, she’s left as bait in dragon territory. She only has one chance to survive – to somehow ‘tame’ a dragon and get it to obey her.

Except the dragon that finds her is as wild and brutal as any other…and he’s not interested in obeying. What he is interested in is a mate.

That’s all I have for January folks! I’m hoping to read and review more in February and to also post some reviews of my favorite re-reads and of course some Kindle Unlimited books! I hope you enjoyed this review and you should definitely check out these books! Thanks for reading! 🙂

Waiting on Wednesday

wow
“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted on Breaking The Spine book blog, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

AR

There are so many great releases that are coming out lately but I wanted to share a few releases that I am REALLY excited for!

My first pick is Racer by Katy Evans
Racer-Promo1

Blurb: A bad boy with something to prove.
A woman with a mission.
The race of their lives.
The love of a lifetime.

I don’t think his parents expected him to live up to his name—Racer Tate—but once he felt the adrenaline rush behind the wheel, he was addicted.

He’s the fastest, fiercest driver around.
Scouting new talent brings me to his doorstep… but his smile sends me to my knees.

The sexy, mysterious Racer Tate is not the kind of man a girl like me falls for. He’s secretive, reckless, elusive. But his proximity pushes me beyond reason, and his kiss….

This is our last chance to win, and he is our only hope. I’m supposed to watch him—make sure he doesn’t get into trouble. But it’s an impossible task. And now the one in heart wrenching, toe-curling, soul-crushing trouble is me. Because when your heart belongs to someone, their truths become your own, and their secrets become your salvation…or your curse.

He says he wants me. He says I’m the One. But he also thinks he’ll break my heart, one piece at a time until it’s gone.
*****
Seriously you guys this book might be my FAVORITE of the year it’s that good. I didn’t think anyone could live up to Remy but of course his son would step up and take over his spot! Inspired by Katy Evan first series, Real….Racer is a must read.

My second pick is American King by Sierra Simone
SBPR-SS-AK-TrilogyFBadsize

Blurb: They say that every tragic hero has a fatal flaw, a secret sin, a tiny stitch sewn into his future since birth. And here I am. My sins are no longer secret. My flaws have never been more fatal. And I’ve never been closer to tragedy than I am now.

I am a man who loves, a man whose love demands much in return. I am a king, a king who was foolish enough to build a kingdom on the bones of the past. I am a husband and a lover and a soldier and a father and a president.

And I will survive this. Long live the king.
********
I adore Sierra Simone and her books and out of this world beautiful writing and characters. I fell head over heels in love with this series when I finished American Queen that being said….after I finished American Prince I was so heartbroken and ruined that I couldn’t read anything for almost two months. SO American King probably is my most anticipated release of the entire year and honestly if it doesn’t end well I’m gonna have to add more sessions with my therapist. Seriously…this series is that amazing and horrible because it makes you FEEL things!
