It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

It's Monday! What Are You Reading
It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week.  It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment, and er… add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye’s Blog   and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!
divider-3I am currently reading three books at the moment! I’m reading Not Just Another Rock Star Romance by Lisa Suzanne, One Tough Cowboy by Lora Leigh and Shadow of the Fox by Julie Kagawa! It’s been a couple of busy days because of Thanksgiving so I’m trying to play catch up! But without further ado here is the break down of everything I’ve been reading lately!

Blurb: I’ve never been able to say no to my manager, which is probably why my band instated the No Bang Oath. When she asks me to star on a new reality dating show right before we go on tour, the last thing I want to find is love. But since it was Kylie who asked, I say yes. Besides, I can’t turn down the exposure for my band.

As I forge connections with the women—including the show’s hostess—I can’t seem to shake Kylie out of my head. When I find myself at the center of a scandal, I don’t know what’s worse: the bad press or the disappointment in Kylie’s eyes.

How do I prove I’m not just another rock star before I hit the road with one of the biggest bands in the world?

What does surprise her is how incredibly hot he still is. And how much she still wants him…

Pride and Passion. And, lo and behold, Hunter still has feelings for Samantha. The long-smoldering heat of their innocent flirtation has grown into a full-raging fire. But when tragedy strikes, and their small-town community is shattered, Hunter vows to do everything he can to keep his childhood sweetheart safe. Blurb: One thousand years ago, the great Kami Dragon was summoned to grant a single terrible wish—and the land of Iwagoto was plunged into an age of darkness and chaos. Now, for whoever holds the Scroll of a Thousand Prayers, a new wish will be granted. A new age is about to dawn.

Raised by monks in the isolated Silent Winds temple, Yumeko has trained all her life to hide her yokai nature. Half kitsune, half human, her skill with illusion is matched only by her penchant for mischief. Until the day her home is burned to the ground, her adoptive family is brutally slain and she is forced to flee for her life with the temple’s greatest treasure—one part of the ancient scroll.

There are many who would claim the dragon’s wish for their own. Kage Tatsumi, a mysterious samurai of the Shadow Clan, is one such hunter, under orders to retrieve the scroll…at any cost. Fate brings Kage and Yumeko together. With a promise to lead him to the scroll, an uneasy alliance is formed, offering Yumeko her best hope for survival. But he seeks what she has hidden away, and her deception could ultimately tear them both apart. With an army of demons at her heels and the unlikeliest of allies at her side, Yumeko’s secrets are more than a matter of life or death. They are the key to the fate of the world itself.

Release Date: Out now, published October 2nd 2018.

Top 5 Tuesday: Worlds I Want To Live In

t5t-graphicTop 5 Tuesday Hosted by: Bionic Book Worm
Description: A weekly top 5 list, with different topics each week. Topics are announced at the beginning of each month.

This question is from November 13th 2018 but I couldn’t pass it up!
November 13th 2018: Top 5 Worlds I want to live!
divider-3

2.jpg
1. A Court of Thorns & Roses by Sarah J. Maas
Oh my gosh! I am in love with the world of A Court of Thorns & Roses and honestly I’m a little obsessed with these books and fae! Prythian is such a cool world because it has so many different places with different seasons it would be the perfect world to go because if you get tired from one season, you can go to another court. I would honestly spend a lot of my time in Night and Summer court, maybe in Spring and Autumn too.

21787.jpg
2. The Princess Bride by William Goldman
My second pick is The Princess Bride by William Goldman! This book is such a romantic story and I love and adore all the fantasy aspects it has! Pirates, castles, swordsmen, giants, magic and so much more! So many possibilities with this book and I think it would be a complete blast to live in!

3.jpg
3. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling
As a life long Harry Potter fan OF COURSE I would want include the Wizarding World in the list of worlds I would to want live in! I am a proud Hufflepuff and I love, love the books. Hogwarts is definitely the first place I would want to be and visit but I especially would want to visit the Wizarding World because of other places like Diagon Alley, Hogsmeade and the Forbidden Forest.

41QmyQJ-5nL._SX317_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg
4. The Real series by Katy Evans
If you keep up with my blog you know I am a huge Katy Evans fan. Real is my favorite book of hers and honestly it would be so amazing if I could live in the same world as Remington Tate because he’s my hero. His world is basically like ours but I honestly would just like to meet him and have the chance to tell him how much he means to me.

33858773
Fireblood Dragon series by Ruby Dixon
Besides fae I think dragons are amazing paranormal creatures and although it might not end well for me, I think it would be really cool to be part of the Fireblood Dragon world by Ruby Dixon. It’s a post apocalyptic world so things are bit rough considering dragons have taken over the world but I would still like to visit this world because of the dragons.

divider-3
Those are my picks for Top 5 Tuesday: Worlds I Want To Live In! I think I have a pretty nice mix of choices! Fae, a bit of fairytale with a taste of everything, wizards, a fighter and dragons! If you could live in any book world what would you pick?

Top 5 Wednesday: Favorite Books Featuring Paranormal Creature of Your Choice

tumblr_ph2t1bPh3V1qenwu4_540.jpg

October 24th:  Top 5 Favorite Books Featuring [Paranormal Creature of Your Choice] This is a repeat topic from last year, but as it’s a good one AND interchangeable so it can be different each year, it’s back again.
divider-3
Oh my gosh! Only five books and I can only narrow it down to one paranormal creature?! This is going to be SO hard because I love fantasy books and there are so many different paranormal creatures that I love reading about! But since I can’t go over them all…I’m going to focus on two: fae and dragons!

court
1. A Court Of Thorns & Roses series by Sarah J. Maas

Blurb: When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin–one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.

As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she’s been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow over the faerie lands is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it . . . or doom Tamlin–and his world–forever.

My Review: https://bit.ly/2SdsRRW

My thoughts: The entire series of A Court Of Thorns & Roses by Sarah J. Maas are my absolute favorite books.  To be honest I really didn’t read a lot of books based on fairies/fae and I was very curious when I started this book and series. By the end of the first chapter I was hooked. Literally one of the best written books/series in the history of mature Young Adult, fantasy and romance. Yes I went THERE and you need to read this book and series ASAP.

fury
2. A Court Of Mist & Fury by Sarah J. Maas

Blurb: Feyre survived Amarantha’s clutches to return to the Spring Court–but at a steep cost. Though she now has the powers of the High Fae, her heart remains human, and it can’t forget the terrible deeds she performed to save Tamlin’s people.

Nor has Feyre forgotten her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court. As Feyre navigates its dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms–and she might be key to stopping it. But only if she can harness her harrowing gifts, heal her fractured soul, and decide how she wishes to shape her future–and the future of a world cleaved in two.

My thoughts: A Court Of Mist & Fury is my favorite A Court Of Thorns & Roses book. No spoilers but if you took my advice and read A Court Of Thorns & Roses, the world just expands and the story grows even more and A Court Of Mist & Fury will blow you away.

#3. Rhapsodic/The Bargainer series by Laura Thalassa

Blurb: Callypso Lillis is a siren with a very big problem, one that stretches up her arm and far into her past. For the last seven years she’s been collecting a bracelet of black beads up her wrist, magical IOUs for favors she’s received. Only death or repayment will fulfill the obligations. Only then will the beads disappear.

Everyone knows that if you need a favor, you go to the Bargainer to make it happen. He’s a man who can get you anything you want… at a price. And everyone knows that sooner or later he always collects. But for one of his clients, he’s never asked for repayment. Not until now. When Callie finds the fae king of the night in her room, a grin on his lips and a twinkle in his eye, she knows things are about to change. At first it’s just a chaste kiss—a single bead’s worth—and a promise for more.

For the Bargainer, it’s more than just a matter of rekindling an old romance. Something is happening in the Otherworld. Fae warriors are going missing one by one. Only the women are returned, each in a glass casket, a child clutched to their breast. And then there are the whispers among the slaves, whispers of an evil that’s been awoken.

If the Bargainer has any hope to save his people, he’ll need the help of the siren he spurned long ago. Only, his foe has a taste for exotic creatures, and Callie just happens to be one.

Buy Rhapsodic ***Available in Kindle Unlimited***

My thoughts: Again I read this book when I was just starting out reading fae books, it’s a little slow at first but definitely contains a heck of lot of Laura Thalassa magic and Des is hot, hot, hot! Plus it’s not just focused on fae but also the main character is a siren which is pretty cool.

#4. Storm Born by Richelle Mead

Blurb: Just typical. No love life to speak of for months, then all at once, every horny creature in the Otherworld wants to get in your pants…

Eugenie Markham is a powerful shaman who does a brisk trade banishing spirits and fey who cross into the mortal world. Mercenary, yes, but a girl’s got to eat. Her most recent case, however, is enough to ruin her appetite. Hired to find a teenager who has been taken to the Otherworld, Eugenie comes face to face with a startling prophecy—one that uncovers dark secrets about her past and claims that Eugenie’s first-born will threaten the future of the world as she knows it.

Now Eugenie is a hot target for every ambitious demon and Otherworldy ne’er-do-well, and the ones who don’t want to knock her up want her dead. Eugenie handles a Glock as smoothly as she wields a wand, but she needs some formidable allies for a job like this. She finds them in Dorian, a seductive fairy king with a taste for bondage, and Kiyo, a gorgeous shape-shifter who redefines animal attraction. But with enemies growing bolder and time running out, Eugenie realizes that the greatest danger is yet to come, and it lies in the dark powers that are stirring to life within her…

My thoughts: Richelle Mead was one of my favorite authors growing up with her Vampire Academy series. As much as I loved those books I really like her strength is in fantasy/adult romance. The Dark Swan series features a lot of creatures but one of the main focuses is fae (mmm Dorian!) and all four books are definitely a ride! I need to re-read and review this series soon but I highly recommend if you are interested in fae and other paranormal creatures.

33858773.jpg
#5 Fire In His Blood by Ruby Dixon

Blurb: Years ago, the skies ripped open and the world was destroyed in fire and ash. Dragons – once creatures of legend – are the enemy. Vicious and unpredictable, they rule the skies of the ruined cities, forcing humanity to huddle behind barricades for safety.

Claudia’s a survivor. She scrapes by as best as she can in a hard, dangerous world. When she runs afoul of the law, she’s left as bait in dragon territory. She only has one chance to survive – to somehow ‘tame’ a dragon and get it to obey her. Except the dragon that finds her is as wild and brutal as any other…and he’s not interested in obeying. What he is interested in is a mate.

Buy Fire In His Blood ***Available in Kindle Unlimited***:
Amazon
Audible
Kobo
iBooks
Add to Goodreads: https://bit.ly/2SiL6p4

My thoughts: Ruby Dixon is one of the best paranormal romance authors around and she is some of the best Kindle Unlimited books around. She is known for her alien paranormal romance series but I prefer her dragon series. Fire In His Blood is the first of five books out so far and tells the story of how dragons came from a hole in the sky and destroyed the world. Humans are in hiding while dragons roam around searching and attacking. When a woman finds herself alone with a dragon she finds out the truth of the situation and honestly I wish there were more books out because this story is SO interesting and different! Plus I think dragons are awesome and they deserve more book time when it comes to all genres of books, but especially romance.
divider-3
Those are my top picks for paranormal creature books! I’ve REALLY been into fae books lately and they kind of have taken over my life and that is 100% okay because I really love them. Right now I feel like they are the vampires that were super popular several years back but when it comes to fae there are so many different types of them with different backgrounds and stories that make it really interesting to read about. Plus dragons, do I need to say more? DRAGONS. Anyway, what is your favorite paranormal creature to read about?

The Three Ws are: What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Untitled.png
I am currently reading The Day I Stopped Falling For Jerks duet by Max Monroe! This is my first Max Monroe book and I’m super excited to be reading it!

Blurb: I’m Luciana Wright. Everyone calls me Lucky, but when it comes to love, I’m anything but. I have a long history of dating the wrong men.
You know the ones I’m talking about.

The beautiful, charming guys who are quite literally too good to be true. The ones who are impulsive in love and prefer short flings over long-term relationships. I’m talking about the jerks. The guys who taste so good, but are so very bad.

After going through the most ridiculous breakup in the history of breakups, I thought I’d learned my lesson. I officially put myself into jerk rehab and committed to changing my ways. But, let’s be real here, love is never that easy. Especially when an arrogant, charming, he-devil of a sexy alpha man gets involved.

Aussie accent. Tanned skin. Muscular, surfer bod. Gorgeous brown eyes. And the kind of sexy smile that brings women to their knees. Oh, did I mention that he’s also my best friend’s brother? Yeah. This story, my story, it’s a real doozy you guys. The day I stopped falling for jerks, I met Oliver Arsen—the biggest jerk of all.

Pre-order The Day I Stopped Falling For Jerks duet here ←

Untitled2.png
What did you recently finish reading? The Necromancer’s Bride by Brianna Hale! Oh my goodness! This book was a novella but it completely blew my socks off! It is the perfect dark romance/Halloween read!

Blurb: When I was a child he brought me back from the brink of death. Since that day I have borne his mark, a black star in the center of my left palm. The villagers say it brands me as evil. I think it means something far worse. It marks me as his.

The disease that nearly killed me has returned to the village and children are dying. I’m the only one who dares to climb the mountain and learn his secrets. In exchange I’m to clean his house and help with his strange experiments, but Meremon wants more. He wants me. And it isn’t long before I discover that his demands are as twisted as his experiments.

Warning: This story is a dark fantasy romance with scenes of non-consent and dubious consent. Additionally, Meremon is a necromancer and enjoys unusual things. Some sex scenes might be strange or creepy for some readers.

As always with Brianna Hale books, no cheating, and a guaranteed happily ever after. THE NECROMANCER’S BRIDE is a novella of 16,000 words.

Pre-order The Necromancer’s Bride here ←

My Post (64).jpg
What do you think you’ll read next? I have been fortune enough to receive ARC’s of Royally Yours by Emma Chase and Long Road Home by Stacey Lynn! Once I’m finished with The Day I Stopped Falling For Jerks duet I’ll be diving into these bad boys! I’m super excited!

Royally Yours Blurb: Princess Lenora Celeste Beatrice Arabella Pembrook had an unusual childhood. She was raised to be a Queen—the first Queen of Wessco.

It’s a big deal. When she’s crowned at just nineteen, the beautiful young monarch is prepared to rule. She’s charming, clever, confident and cunning. What she isn’t… is married. It’s her advising council’s first priority. It’s what Parliament is demanding, and what her people want.

Lenora has no desire to tie herself to a man—particularly one who only wants her for her crown. But compromises must be made and royals must do their duty. Even Queens. Especially them.

** Years ago, Edward Langdon Richard Dorian Rourke, walked away from his title and country. Now he’s an adventurer—climbing mountains, exploring jungles, going wherever he wants, when he wants—until family devotion brings him home.

And a sacred promise keeps him there. To Edward, the haughty, guarded little Queen is intriguing, infuriating…and utterly captivating. Wanting her just might drive him mad—or become his greatest adventure. Within the cold, stone walls of the royal palace—mistrust threatens, wills clash, and an undeniable, passionate love will change the future of the monarchy forever. Every dynasty has a beginning. Every legend starts with a story. This is theirs.

Pre-order Royally Yours here ←

Long Road Home Blurb: I left home ten years ago, promising myself I’d never return to the place where I had never been accepted. I was despised and ridiculed for circumstances completely beyond my control.

But when my grandmother passes away, I’m forced to return to Kansas. I will have to face everyone who hated me. But they’re not who I’m most afraid of. My biggest fear? Facing him.  Jordan Marx. The boy I once loved more than life itself. The boy who defended me from them. The boy I’d disappeared on, leaving him nothing more than a horrible nasty lie and hastily scribbled note.

When Jordan finds out the secret I have carried for so long, I’m in for the battle of my life.  Or so I thought. I might have wandered for years on a path riddled with thorns but with Jordan by my side, taking the long road home means more than reuniting with the only man I’ve ever loved. It might just mean finding myself, and the family I never thought I could ever have along the way.

Book Blogger Hop: It’s getting close to Halloween. If you HAD to read one of these two genres, which would you prefer — urban fantasy, or horror, and why?

Halloween Edition book blogger hop.png
The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, I relaunched the meme on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end on Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. October 5th – 11th – It’s getting close to Halloween. If you HAD to read one of these two genres, which would you prefer — urban fantasy, or horror, and why? (submitted by Maria @ A Night’s Dream of Books)

divider 3

Oh my goodness! As I’ve stated before in a previous book blogger hop post I am NOT into horror, AT ALL. It stresses me out and gives me anxiety so I will definitely not be choosing horror if I had to choose a genre I had to read forever! One of my favorite genres to read is fantasy so I think reading urban fantasy would even be more fun to read about.

I actually googled the description of urban fantasy and this is what Google came up with: Urban fantasy is a sub genre of fantasy in which the narrative has an urban setting. … A contemporary setting is not strictly necessary for a work of urban fantasy: works of the genre may also take place in futuristic and historical settings, actual or imagined. (via Wikipedia.)

I think from just reading that description that reading urban fantasy over horror would be an absolute for me because picking urban fantasy gives me more options. I feel like horror is just one genre you really can’t add or stray from, whereas urban fantasy could branch off into so many other things and scenarios when it comes to books and reading so I definitely would pick urban fantasy.

What would you choose if you could choose one one of these genres: horror or urban fantasy?

How To Relax with Reading!

1Hello friends! Happy Weekend and Happy Saturday! So I wanted to write a blog post talking about how several things: the main focus on reading routines and how to relax before or while you’re reading but I also wanted to discuss the importance of self care and taking a break. I’m very open about this and I’ve discussed it before on my blog but I have suffered from anxiety and depression my entire life and five years ago I was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD.) I lost my Dad at twenty years old in August 2017 and I have struggled with balancing my mental heath issues ever since. Most days I am fine and then there are others that completely just knock the life out of me. I don’t want to move, I don’t want to do anything and it’s just a horrible, horrible thing to deal with on a daily basis…mental illness.

Although I have to live with these struggles every day, I know the good days outweigh the bad and like I have for all my life, I will continue to fight against the bad days. One of the things I do when I’m having a bad day is read! So I got to thinking and came up with this blog post! I thought it would be fun to ask other readers what their reading routines and rituals were and what they did to relax before they sat down to read. In this blog post I’m going to share my relaxing reading routine along with other readers! After you read this post I hope you take some of these suggestions and tips to heart and take some time out to relax and exercise some self care for yourself! Enjoy! Xo!

2.jpgMy ideal reading routine would be somewhere quiet, either on my bed or a big comfy chair but DEFINITELY somewhere quiet. I wish I could be one of those people who could read anywhere especially with noise, but I am not. Before I settle in I usually pick several of my favorite essential oils and pop them in the diffuser! I use Young Living Essential oils and my favorites are peace and calming, joy and orange! Those scents calm me and just make me feel immediately relaxed. Once I am settled I love cuddling up with blankets and I LOVE blankets especially big, fuzzy ones! And cozy socks are a must too! Usually I have a small stack of books next to me (even if I’m reading from my kindle) and I have some sort of stone nearby. My go to feel good stones are Opal and Himalayan salt. Then I start reading!

That’s my reading routine and I want to hear yours! Your habits, tips or suggestions! Please comment and tell me your thoughts! Below are other reading routines and rituals from fellow readers and bloggers, each username is tagged so you could follow them on twitter! Enjoy!

divider 3

Get comfy on the sofa or bed (usually the bed), turn off the tv, play some instrumental music (for a few minutes only! I like the background noise), then I’m ready to not get up EVER lol –

I read at bedtime, so I take a bath (always with lavender body wash to relax), put on comfy pajamas, and crawl into my cozy bed. Then I’m ready to read all night.

I like the quiet, turn off the tv, grab a cup of coffee and cover up with a blanket

Definitely a blanket, drink and snack also my baby monitor!

Blankets blankets blankets! @Cat_book_tea

Definitely a blanket.. settle down in my recliner and put my feet up.. and probably will have some old favorite tv show on because I don’t like Silence..

Run a bath – a nice hot one and soak for a couple of hours while reading 🙂

I make sure I have everything I need to sit for a while: a nice blanket, a comfy pillow, something to drink nearby. 🙂

Cushions and a nice cuppa does it for me x –

Beverage: hot or cold depending on weather/time/mood Pillows &/or blankets = snuggly pup Front door locked. I’m not home, as far as you know. Electronics on DND Pee. (me & the snuggly pup) Not getting up in 5 minutes, thanks.

Cushions, tea/coffee, snack, phone within reach (so I don’t have to get up) – or better still, switched off. This scenario is perfected when the cat turns up to sit on me, which she invariably does thirty seconds before I have to move.

A nice tasty drink and a comfy seat. –

I can read anywhere, no matter the noise, location tv on or kids running around. Writing is a totally different animal since people and noise are a major inconvenience. –

Take off my shoes, grab a blanket and a snack, and shut the bedroom door so the cat can’t come in and sit on my book. –

September 14th-20th – What author do you not read and why? (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)
divider 3

What an interesting question! Honestly I’m not that picky when it comes to reading or book genres. My favorites and main focus of Amorette’s Reviews is definitely Romance, Young Adult and Fantasy/Fiction but again I’m not picky. HOWEVER there is one book genre that I flat out refuse to read and that is horror. Don’t get me wrong, Stephen King is an amazing author and person, but I just can’t read his stuff.

I don’t understand why people like feeling scared and for me reading is such a getaway where I like to escape and relax; so feeling scared and reading about scary things is the complete opposite for me. So I can’t read Stephen King because one I don’t like horror and two being scared makes me anxious so I definitely want to avoid any book or author that focuses on that.

What are some books/authors you can’t read and why? I would love to hear your answers! XO

Top 5 Wednesday: Classics I Wish Had Modern Adaptations

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly Wednesday discussion focusing on five questions about books run by Goodreads. You can find the thread here ➜ https://bit.ly/1kmldQ6

My Post (56).jpgQuestion for September 19th: Classics I Wish Had Modern Adaptations. What an interesting question! There are so many books that I could talk about and discuss but I’m definitely going to go with some of my childhood favorites!

1. The story of Persephone and Hades. I don’t know about you but growing up and even now, I love Greek mythology and one of my FAVORITE stories ever is the story of how the Goddess of Spring and the King of the Underworld came to be together. Out of all the Greek Gods stories, Hades really isn’t that bad which has always struck me odd considering he’s the God of the dead but go figure! I think retold as a modern tale, in a modern setting especially in book form would be really, really cool. There isn’t a book about them yet BUT there is this really weekly web comic that is set in modern times that I adore! Check it out here: Lore Olympus

2. One Thousand and One Nights! There are so many different types of stories in here that if you really think about it, COULD connect together to make one epic book! Mix all those stories together like Aladdin, Sinbad, Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves etc and give it a modern twist and I think it would be really, really cool.

3. Pride and Prejudice! I would LOVE to have Pride and Prejudice re-imagined as a rom-com YA book either set in High School or maybe even in college would make the perfect angsty romance book. Plus I feel like there need to be more rom-com movies based on rom com books so let’s produce more of them!

4. Romeo and Juliet. Okay, okay I KNOW what you’re thinking: there is already a modern telling of Romeo and Juliet, the movie that Leonardo Dicaprio did BUT there isn’t a book version! At least not that I know of! But I would love a modern re-telling of a romance book focused on Romeo and Juliet in modern terms.

5. The Great Gatsby. People either love or can’t stand The Great Gatsby, for me it’s one of those books that made me really fall in love with reading and helped shaped me as a person. Gatsby is about a man who fell so in love with a woman that he literally did everything he thought of to win her heart, add a classic re-telling of that and make it a romance book and BOOM.

Overall Review July 2018

My Post (43)

Oh my goodness! July went by SO fast! I reviewed some ARC’s for this month but I also did a lot of re-reading for review which was a complete blast! I’ve read a lot of books before I became a book blogger and I’m glad I found a way to incorporate past books I’ve read and loved into my blog! So without further ado, my overall review for July 2018!

I started off July with re-reading the Stage Dive series by Kylie Scott, reading Lick first! It was so much fun revisiting this series this month! Kylie Scott is a fantastic writer and her Stage Dive series is a staple for any romance book lovers collection! This series means a lot to me personally because the books were published during a very transitional time in my life so I really loved re-reading them for review. The Stage Dive series focuses on a famous rock band with all of the four bandmates falling in love. Under really interesting circumstances might I add!

I had the amazing opportunity to read and review for Jen Frederick which I was SUPER excited for! I’m a big fan of her and this was my first solo book of her I had the chance to review for (I’ve only read her other books Erin Watt wise.) Want You is about two kids growing up and falling in love with each other, which is honestly one of my favorite romance trope books EVER. I am a sucker for them. I just think knowing someone for most of your entire life and later falling in love with them, I think it makes it even more special. Not to mention that some criminal activity is involved in Want You, so it’s not just hand holding and flowers, things get a bit nerve-wracking. I love this book and Want You is definitely one of my favorite reads of the Summer!

I also had the opportunity to read and review for some new authors I haven’t read before which was so much fun! His Distraction by Tanya Gallagher was a kinky, fun, adventure read that was a surprise for me. The books where people don’t think they are going to fall in love or don’t want love are always something I enjoy.

2017-471 M L Sparrow, b02
I also had the opportunity to read and review for ML Sparrow for her college romance book, Flirt. It had been a minute since I had read a college romance story so it was a nice change of pace for me.
About the Author: M L Sparrow is currently the author of several full length novels, three novellas and a slew of short stories published in various anthologies. Her novella, A Tangled Web, was a finalist in the 2017 Next Generation Indie Book Awards and in the 2017 Readers’ Favorite Awards. Another novella, Red Days, was a winner in the Book Excellence Awards, Current Events category.

She will write pretty much anything that pops into her head, no matter the genre, and enjoys keeping her readers guessing as to what she will write next, though you can pretty much guarantee that there will be some degree of romance!

As well as writing, she enjoys travelling and is currently living in Tokyo. Her travels are a constant source of inspiration and she has an endless supply of ideas for future novels…

I’ve been re-reading a lot of books for review and to celebrate Katy Evan’s upcoming release Playboy part of her Manwhore series, I decided to re-read one of my favorites, Ladies Man. Oh my gosh, I am just in love with Tahoe Roth today as I was in 2016. My love for that man will probably never go away, haha! I love Tahoe and Gina and their slow burning romance is EVERYTHING. Love, love, LOVE this book!

The Darkest Drae trilogy ended with Black Crown and I was really bummed it was finished! I loved all the books (Blood Oath, Shadow Wings and Black Crown) but I was a bit disappointed with the ending. That aside, this book and the rest of the trilogy is a great mixture of Mature YA, fantasy and romance!

My review of Black Crown

About the Authors:
Kelly St. Clare: Books have always been magical and mysterious to her. One day she decided to start unraveling this mystery and began writing. Her works include The Tainted Accords, The After Trilogy, and The Darkest Drae. A New Zealander in origin and in heart, Kelly currently resides in Australia with her ginger-bearded husband, a great group of friends, and some huntsman spiders who love to come inside when it rains. Their love is not returned.

Raye Wagner: As one of eight children, I learned to love reading as a means of escaping the chaos that comes with being a part of a large family. When I was a teenager, I read Leon Uris’s Exodus, and fell in love with the character, Kitty Fremont. Not only was I in love with Ari Ben Canaan (my first introduction to an alpha male), but I felt a connection with her, so much so that I pursued a career in nursing. I continued to collect books and read through college, and even as I established my career. Years later, I read the Twilight saga, my first introduction to YA literature as an adult. I was in Half-Price Books and picked up a middle-grade novel with a boy and a lightning bolt on the cover. I read the first page, and bought the first four Percy Jackson books. Isn’t this series fantastic? After that I was hooked, and YA literature became my genre of choice.

I live in Middle Tennessee with my husband and three children. My favorite things include trips to the beach, baking sweets (and eating them), Tae Kwon Do, and doing puzzles and Legos with my family.

And to finish off July with a bang, Playboy by Katy Evans! I love all of Katy’s books very, very much. However Real and Remy have always held the number one spot in my heart…until Playboy and Cullen came along! I love Remy so much but Cullen comes pretty dang close!!

What are you currently reading? I am currently reading It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time by Kylie Scott!
Good-Idea-promo-7 (1)
Blurb: Returning home for her father’s wedding was never going to be easy for Adele. If being sent away at eighteen hadn’t been bad enough, the mess she left behind when she made a pass at her dad’s business partner sure was.

Fifteen years older than her, Pete had been her crush for as long as she could remember. But she’d misread the situation—confusing friendliness for undying love. Awkward. Add her father to the misunderstanding, and Pete had been left with a broken nose and a business on the edge of ruin. The man had to be just as glad as everyone else when she left town.

Seven years on, things are different. Adele is no longer a kid, but a fully grown adult more than capable of getting through the wedding and being polite. But all it takes is seeing him again to bring back all those old feelings. Sometimes first loves are the truest.

What did you recently finish reading? Playboy by Katy Evans! Gah! This book completely blew me away! I’m so excited for it’s release on July 29th!

Blurb: It started as a game. We flirted. We played. Most importantly—we won.
Then I discovered who he was: Gambler. Famous playboy. Silver-eyed player who never plays to lose…and my best friend’s soon-to-be brother in law, Cullen Carmichael.

He needed a good luck charm, I needed a distraction.
So we made a gamble and set off for Vegas—but pretty soon—I was in too deep.
My heart, soul, and body weren’t supposed to be part of the deal.
But somewhere between big wins and long nights, my house of cards started to tumble.
What was this devil with those piercing eyes doing to me?
I’d given up on love, but the wicked, all-in Cullen Carmichael was upping the ante and wouldn’t stop until he’d won it all.

What do you think you’ll read next? Oh my goodness! There are so many books I want to tackle on my TBR list! I definitely want to start Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, I want to re-read The Cruel Prince by Holly Black for review and several other books! I think August is looking pretty open for me ARC wise, so I definitely want to tackle several books off my TBR!
