I am so thankful that 2017 is over! It was honestly the worst year of my entire life but I am so thankful I had books to get me through it! The Luminous Series by Stacey Lynn

Dominate Me was one of my first advanced reader’s copies and I was so excited for the opportunity! From the moment I started Dominate Me to the minute I finished Long For Me I was in LOVE with this series. Stacey Lynn definitely had made a new fan and I look forward to all her books now because she is a fantastic writer. The Luminous series follows three women and their journey into the BDSM world and where the journey starts; at Luminous an exclusive and underground club. This series had my interest from the very beginning and each story and couple is different which I love. I adore Haley and Jensen (Dominate Me) but my favorite couple out of this series belongs to Rebecca and Bennett (Long For Me) This series is a must read for anyone who loves dom-sub relationships and everything in between.

Commander in Chief by Katy Evans

If you follow my reviews it should be no surprise to you that Katy Evans made my list! Commander in Chief, book two of the White House Duet started off 2017 and honestly made me melt into the ground and become a puddle of goo. I loved this series and this book was just such a great read! If Matt Hamilton was a real person you can guarantee I would vote for him!

Lucky by Carina Adams

Lucky was a huge surprise for me because honestly I’m not that big a fan of sports romance but I loved this story and Adams is a fantastic writer with a great sense of humor. Not to mention the chemistry between Sunshine and Lucian is electric hot and the way they meet is just hilarious to me too but I won’t spoil it for you 🙂

American Prince by Sierra Simone

One of the year’s most anticipated read’s in the romance book world, American Prince (Book Two of The New Camelot Series) blew my socks off and broke my heart all at the same time. Sierra Freaking Simone is one heck of an amazing writer but she also likes to drink her reader’s tears (no seriously go check her Facebook…she has a mug that says that! Haha!) This book and the series itself is just beyond anything I have ever read before that there are just no way I can describe it in one post. Below is my review (warning spoilers!) But if you haven’t checked out The New Camelot series you seriously should, it is literally one of the best romance books written of all time!

It felt like forever but American King was finally released and I honestly thought I was going to have a heart attack the entire time I read this book. I got angry, I cried, I wanted to throw my kindle but Ash finished out the New Camelot Series strong and Sierra Simone once again wrecked my heart and soul. In the best way of course but still! What a journey the New Camelot series has been and I am so sad that it is over! Long Live Ash, Greer and Embry!

These two authors honestly need a warning label because together or standalone, they are hot, hot, hot.

No surprise that Katy Evans makes my list again! Tycoon is my standalone of the year. The cover is beautiful, I love the story of two childhood friends coming back together and falling in love and honestly I just love Katy Evans and all her wonderful stories and characters. This book is a perfect standalone because most of the time I finish standalones wanting more but Tycoon wasn’t like that. You’ll want to read it over and over of course but it gives you the sense that the story is complete which is kind of the point of standalone!

I am a big fan of fantasy and romance, so when I find a book or book series that includes both of those two genres together I am one happy girl! Fire In His Blood features a future dystopian universe where our world has been ravaged by dragons. Action, romance, fantasy and dragons are the focal point of this book and honestly I was hooked in chapter one. This is the first book in the series but it’s been my favorite so far!

and my last pick of 2017 is…..A Court Of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas!!!

So I used to love Young Adult books until I stopped reading them in 2016 due to several books disappointing me. Yes, TWO BOOKS literally made me stop reading YA because they were THAT bad. I didn’t think I would ever read YA again, until I picked A Court of Thorns and Roses in July of 2017. Within a week I had all three books in the series and I was completely and utterly blown away. Sarah J. Maas transported me to a completely different world and she is a fantastic writer. Her characters are dynamic and interesting and the plot a great page turner and just makes you want to stay up all night to finish her book! Out of the three of the series (A Court of Thorns and Roses, A Court of Mist and Fury, A Court of Wings and Ruin) A Court of Mist was my favorite and is my number book and read of 2017. I haven’t reviewed these books yet but I will be re-reading them soon and will post my reviews then. Hold onto your seats kids because I have a lot of love and feelings towards these books! I’ll be posting the synopsis for A Court of Thorns and Roses so it won’t spoil for what happens in A Court of Mist and Fury if you want to read it!

Review: Womanizer by Katy Evans

The Cover: Womanizer is probably one of my favorite covers of Katy Evan’s so far. It’s obviously Callan and I don’t know why, but there’s something about having a guy on a book cover looking away from the viewer that looks hot. Actually I do know why smoking looks hot, it’s bad for you! Totally makes sense right? Anyway, I really want to print a picture of this cover off and frame it and put it in my office that’s how much I love it!

Basics: Womanizer was released on December 5th, 2016 and is part of Katy’s Manwhore series. Womanizer was published by CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform and is 274 pages long.

Description: You’ve seen the headlines:
Womanizing billionaire player! Watch out! Stay away!

We were just two strangers. Facing a forbidden attraction, a chemical connection. Neither of us expected or wanted it to amount to more.

Overall thoughts: Womanizer was not what I expected! First of all, out of all the three bad boys mentioned in the Manwhore series, (Saint, Tahoe and now Callan) I imagined Callan to be completely different. I also expected Olivia to actually know Callan! Like….your big brother has been friends with this guy for years! Surely you’ve seen pictures or catched a glimpse of him at events and such right? That’s a big no for Olivia who doesn’t even recognize the ‘hot smoker guy’ she’s been talking to and hanging out with…is actually her boss and brother’s best friend. The guy she’s been fantasizing over and opening up to. GAHHHH. As a reader I obviously realized who he was, I immediately saw what was going to happen but the entire time I thought to myself, ‘this is going to be SO bad!’

And yet I kept reading, my heart racing faster and faster until the moment they found out who the other person was and my heart exploded. The rest of Womanizer went by in a big, happy blur. Callan has obviously slept around and has a reputation throughout Chicago for it, but something about Livvy draws him to her. Which is somewhat of an issue considering one, she works for him. Two, she is also his best friend’s sister who apparently already warned Callan to stay away from.

I love watching the funny, somewhat awkward and swoon worthy way they met and I loved watching them fall for one another. It’s a great story about two people falling in love with one another when they didn’t plan to and they also weren’t part of each other’s plan. Womanizer is in fact a love story, but it also has hidden undertones. People get so wrapped up in their futures, their plans that when something wonderful happens…they don’t know what to do. Or they can’t do something or be with someone because it doesn’t fit into their plan. Being too afraid to take that leap of faith isn’t living and that’s something that Katy Evans also writes about in Womanizer. An important message that I feel like every twenty something should know and hear.

I really, really, really liked Olivia. I think it’s important as writers and authors that different stories from different perspectives are told. Olivia clearly has a plan for herself; first and foremost she wants to be a businesswoman and establish a career. Not every woman wants a relationship right away, love is put on the back burner until they can get some other things out of the way first. However, life is a tricky thing and random things happen both good and bad and things change. Sometimes for worse, sometimes for better…either way I think Katy Evans wrote a pretty good book about how sometimes your plan changes and you have to switch things around. Growing up in this country there’s a lot of things that we are ‘told we have to do’ or we have to ‘follow a certain plan’ without veering off it. It’s just really nice to read something that shows it’s okay to venture of the path of your plan and it was nice to watch Olivia deal with that and relate to it. And of course I loved Callan, he was kind of this intense quiet, bad boy vibe type of guy in Womanizer, but he also reminded me a of little boy who refused to quit until he got what he wanted; something I always enjoy reading about honestly.

I loved Womanizer very much! It wasn’t at all what I was expecting but I think that’s the main reason I loved it so much. Olivia and Callan will forever hold a special place in my heart and thanks to another great book by Katy Evans, I can add another beautiful story to my bookshelf.

Overall thoughts: Team Player is definitely a big, lengthy read. 1032 pages is nothing to joke about when it comes to romance books and neither is eleven fabulous authors teaming up to create a book! I don’t know why there’s a sudden rise in sports romance books lately in the book romance world but it’s definitely a hot genre right now. Team Player fits right into what is trending too! Sports romance aren’t my favorite to read about because I like drama and such when it comes to romance and for me it seems like a little cheesy, romance and sports? How is that going to work? But that’s just for my personal opinion; saying that however Team Player has something for everyone and I think it is the perfect holiday to escape to.

Overall thoughts: I completely adored The British Knight! It was such a pleasant surprise! Violet and Alexander have this electric, fun and sexy chemistry and they are an absolute joy to read about. I loved the story and Louise Bay does a fabulous job of creating characters that you can immediately relate to. Violet wants a fresh start and a do over while Alexander is working hard to live up to his father’s name and livelihood. Last but not least, love always seems to find us in the most unexpected places and that aspect plays a huge part in The British Knight and honestly I could gush about this book for hours. I adored it. Louise Bay definitely has a new fan and reader!

Excerpt: When the door is closed, I turn my attention back to her. “So, that was the husband, huh?”

“Ex.”

Stepping forward, I invade her personal space. Her eyes are alive with fire, but not in the way they were moment ago with the douche. No, her eyes dance with a heady mixture of excitement and lust as she glares back at me. “Watching you tear him apart and eat him alive was so fucking hot,” I confess, touching the side of her cheek with the side of my finger.

Her gasp echoes in the hall, invading my soul and filling my mind with dirty images. Ones of her and me, naked, and making little noises just like that. “I hear cold showers work wonders to help cool you down,” she suggests with a smirk.

“Are you joining me in said shower?”

“Not in this lifetime, bucko.”

“Shame. I’m sure you’d really know how to turn up the heat in the shower, firecracker.” Again, I touch her face. I can’t seem to stop touching her. She should probably run in the other direction, fast. Hell, I should run the other way as quickly as possible. The last thing I need is a woman clouding up my brain, distracting my focus from helping my mom.

But I’m just a man.

A man with urges and needs, and those are directed at this little spitfire of a woman who makes me want to turn all caveman on her and throw her over my shoulder. I bet I could extract another of those sexy little gasps if I were to swat her ass.

Plus, throw in the fact that she’s technically married. That point alone is enough to make me want to look away. But I can’t. I’m drawn to her, like a moth to a flame. “It’s a nice ass,” I defend, refusing to look away from those hypnotizing green orbs.

“You’re impossible.”

“You like me.”

“No, no, I don’t. You’re…annoying and impossible and just like rattling my chain.”

Stepping closer yet until I can smell the scent of her lotion and see her throat bob as she swallows hard (a result of my nearness), I say, “You. Like. Me. You just don’t know what to do about it.”

Rolling her eyes, she fires back, “Don’t be so sure of yourself. You’re not that likeable.”

Lexi reaches back and finishes unlocking the door. Before she steps inside, she pauses, making my heart skip a beat and my boner stand up and say hello. “Thank you for helping me get rid of him,” she says softly, without turning and looking my way.

“Anytime he gives you trouble, come get me.”

Before she can slip inside and disappear on me, I reach forward and touch her arms. My gut tightens as my fingers dance along smooth, soft skin. I’ve never had a reaction like this to a woman. Never.
