Release Blitz: Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas

JORDAN: He took me in when I had nowhere else to go.
He doesn’t use me, hurt me, or forget about me. He doesn’t treat me like I’m nothing, take me for granted, or make me feel unsafe.

He remembers me, laughs with me, and looks at me. He listens to me, protects me, and sees me. I can feel his eyes on me over the breakfast table, and my heart pumps so hard when I hear him pull in the driveway after work.
I have to stop this. It can’t happen.
My sister once told me there are no good men, and if you find one, he’s probably unavailable.
Only Pike Lawson isn’t the unavailable one. I am.

PIKE: I took her in, because I thought I was helping.
She’d cook a few meals and clean up a little. It was an easy arrangement.

As the days go by, though, it’s becoming anything but easy. I have to stop my mind from drifting to her and stop holding my breath every time I bump into her in the house. I can’t touch her, and I shouldn’t want to.
The more I find my path crossing hers, though, the more she’s becoming a part of me.
But we’re not free to give into this. She’s nineteen, and I’m thirty-eight.
And her boyfriend’s father.
Unfortunately, they both just moved into my house.

*BIRTHDAY GIRL is a stand-alone, contemporary romance suitable for ages 18+.30653046_1982593468724792_8500848363166498816_n.jpg

ARC Review & Release Blitz: This Time Around by Stacey Lynn

The Cover: I love this cover! I think it’s romantic, sensual and very intimate. I also love that a couple is featured instead of just one person and I think it is perfect for Cooper and Rebecca, A+.

Basics: This Time Around was released on April 10th 2018, published by Stacey Lynn Books and is 336 pages long. Genre wise This Time Around belongs to contemporary romance.

Description: Cooper Hawke was everything I didn’t need. Rich and famous, and a high-profile actor, he lived a life of luxury while my life had always been much more simple.

Yet when he showed up at my cattle ranch in Kansas, he gave me everything I didn’t think I wanted again.

His marriage was over and he was lost. I was still barely surviving in my grief after my husband’s sudden death.

As hard as I tried to keep him out, he slipped past my defenses, and slowly, a connection grew between us I could no longer deny.

But this time around, we were on borrowed time. Because Cooper still had his real life waiting for him back in Hollywood.

Overall thoughts: This Time Around was such an emotional, loving read! My heart completely fell apart for Cooper and Rebecca and what they were going through! Rebecca lost her husband and Cooper is dealing with an ugly divorce and the reality that his relationship wasn’t real. These two needed each other and that is exactly what Stacey Lynn did.

Cooper needs to escape his cheating wife, their numbing divorce and the pressures of Hollywood and his agent has the perfect escape. Staying the summer at a cattle ranch in Kansas. Rebecca is just trying to live day by day, hour by hour taking care of the ranch and animals. Keeping busy however isn’t stopping her from grieving her husband or healing the sadness and hurt she is feeling, until Cooper comes along anyway.

Cooper and Rebecca really touched my heart because they’ve been both dealt with terrible situations and you just want the best for them, even just reading about them I immediately wanted their situations fixed. Stacey Lynn does a fantastic job of doing that with her readers, you feel so close to her characters that they feel real to you. I really loved reading about their story and honestly how love can blossom even in the most desolate, darkened places. This Time Around is a good feel romance that will warm and touch your heart, a book that should be read when someone feels like things aren’t going well. This book is just a reminder maybe that what you’re going through isn’t forever and maybe the next time around things will work out.

ARC Review & Release Blitz: Love Rerouted by Leddy Harper

love re.png
The Cover: I love the cover and it’s overall vibe and color scheme! Everything blends together and the entire aesthetic of it is very pleasing. I also like how their is a couple on the cover instead of just one model, it’s a nice change and I think they look very good together, perfect for Maggie and Talon. A+

Basics: Getaway Car was released on April 4th 2018 and genre wise belongs to contemporary romance.

Description: I needed to get out of town but didn’t have a car.
He had nowhere to go and offered to drive.
Forty-eight hours was all we were given.
A lifetime wouldn’t have been enough.

She had something of mine.
And I was determined to get it back.
I thought it was just my getaway car she’d stolen.
I had no idea she’d captured my heart as well.

Overall thoughts:
Before I dive into my thoughts, I wanted to first discuss Leddy Harper. I am a huge fan of her and here is the great thing about her: she will break your heart then piece it back together again…all in one book! To me that’s an important aspect that every author should have in some shape or form, to make the reader feel something. With Harper it’s not just romance or attraction, she puts true emotion into her writing and characters and I just love it.

Getaway Car is a story about two people running from things but falling hard for each other. Maggie is an eighteen year old trying to escape a bad situation and Talon is also running from a bad situation, put these two together and you have one complicated, messy attraction and love story. They only had a few days together but they both made huge impacts on each other’s lives which is another trope of romance books I love so much, time skips and jumps. I do find that when people are apart yet they can only think about is one person very romantic.

The romance and the relationship between Maggie and Talon was great but my absolute favorite part of Getaway Car was the constant suspense and guessing game of the twists and turns throughout the plot! I couldn’t put it down! With the magnetic chemistry of the couple and my curiousness I devoured Getaway Car very quickly! No spoilers but once you pick up this book and start reading you won’t be able to stop because you won’t be able to put the book down! Getaway Car was a fantastic read and will be on my list of my favorite 2018 reads!

TheGetawayCar_Teaser6About the Author: Leddy Harper had to use her imagination often as a child. She grew up the only girl in a house full of boys. At the age of fourteen, she decided to use that imagination and wrote her first book, and never stopped.

She often calls writing her therapy, using it as a way to deal with issues through the eyes of her characters. She is now a mother of three girls, leaving her husband as the only man in a house full of females.

The decision to publish her first book was made as a way of showing her children to go after whatever it is they want to. Love what you do and do it well. Most importantly Leddy wanted to teach them what it means to overcome their fears.

Release Blitz & Excerpt: Blackstone by J.D. Hollyfield

Blackstone1.jpgSynopsis: I am meticulous. Structured. A single father.
I obsess over things and crave control.
And when a hot, feisty little woman throws a wrench in my carefully laid out plans, I lose my mind.
My every thought revolves around making her bend to my will—until they become less about her doing things my way and more about just her.

My name is Trevor Blackstone.  I am an obsessive, complicated, demanding man. People may not understand me, but it doesn’t stop them from wanting me.
blackstone teaser 1.png
Excerpt: “You shouldn’t use those stairs,” I yell, startling her. She wobbles, grabbing for the banister, giving me another scare. The thing looks ready to fall off.

“Jesus, Numbers, you scared the piss outta me,” she yelps, glaring at me like she wants to rip my head off. And I don’t care, so long as she gets down those bunk stairs. That’s when she starts bouncing on each step.

“Don’t fucking do that. Those aren’t safe,” I snap back.

“Don’t do what, this?” She jumps again, slamming her feet back down on another step. My anger spikes. Is she out of her fucking mind? Can’t she see the stairs wobbling under her? She repeats the same gesture to the next two steps, giving me palpitations. The reoccurring effect has her falling through in less than seven more jumps. I glance over, noticing she’s only using one hand to hold onto the railing and has a bottle in her other.

“Are you drunk?” I ask, now worried about her state of mind. She won’t be able to catch herself if she falls.

“Super drunk actually. Thanks for asking. Now, mind your own business.” She makes it to the bottom of the stairs. Relief washes over me as I watch her walk onto the sand and dig her toes into the cool peddles of the sea. Then, she stumbles and trips. “Whoa! I’m okay!” she squeals, catching herself before she falls face-first into the sand.

I’m curious what she’s up to. Until my mind figures it out. “You can’t go in the water. It’s not safe at night.” I’m frozen, waiting for her to listen to me and turn back around. But she doesn’t.

“Yeah, yeah, I’ve seen you in it all week at night. Nice try.” She keeps walking. The tide has picked up the last couple days due to it being hurricane season. If I weren’t trained to handle the choppiness of the waves, I wouldn’t have been out there either.

“Yeah, and I know the water. You don’t. Stay out of there,” I demand. Why the fuck is she still walking? Christ, she’s wobbling down to the water. The farther she gets, the harder it is to see her. The half-crescent moon glows against the water, but it’s still so dark, I struggle to see anything but her silhouette. “Hey!” I yell, but this time, she doesn’t respond.

I drop the bar of soap and run through the sand on high alert, listening for any signs of struggle. What the hell is wrong with this girl? Unsynchronized splashing. I go to call her name, but realize I don’t even know it. Numbers, letters, and equations blast though my head at the chances I guess it right. It’s undefinable, due to the various coed names—

“Hey!” I yell toward where I last spotted her. My feet slam into the sand, hitting the lining of the ocean shore and—

I jump, losing my balance, and fall back into the cool ocean water.

“Holy shit! You should see your face!” She laughs. I wipe the water off my face as she stands above me, laughing, holding her chest. “Oh, man. For such a big guy, you sure do scare easily. I wish I record—”

Pushing to my feet, I tackle her, taking the last words right out of her mouth. She squeals as I bear hug her body to my chest and walk furiously with her in my tight hold into the cold water.

“Oh my God! Stop! It’s freezing!” She kicks back and forth, trying to fight her way out of my grip. “Ahhh! Stop, please stop! It’s fucking cold!” I don’t stop until we’re almost shoulder deep under. “Hold your breath.” Her eyes shine in the moonlight, a battle warring behind them. She realizes my next move and doesn’t know whether to yell or obey. My face remains stoic, serious, and she takes a deep breath as I sink us both beneath the water’s surface.

When I pop back up, she has her arms and legs wrapped around me, the struggle forgotten. Her hair is soaked, covering her face. I lift my hand to brush it off, giving me the pleasure of her eyes. Green. Wide. She knows I’m lost in the sight of her. She seems to be doing the same. Her firm tits press nicely against my chest, and she has to be dumb not to feel my hard cock, even in the cold temperature.

It’s then I remember I don’t have any shorts on. A few seconds pass before she comes to the same realization. “Are you naked?” she asks, her voice hoarse. I can’t help the urge I allow to happen. Using my hand straddling around her taut ass, I press her into me. Fuck, that felt good. “Yep, naked,” she whispers, her lids half closed. Her actions tease me, and I press into her again, gaining another reward. This time, her eyes shut and mouth parts. Hell knows what’s changed between earlier today and now, but my dick tells me I should keep going until she tells me to fuck off.

“You okay with this?” I bend, putting my lips on her bare shoulder, and suck on her skin, which is softer than I expected.

“I don’t like you, but I’m really horny and you’re hot, so yep, let’s do this.”

ARC Review & Release Blitz: Escort by Skye Warren

The Cover: I love the cover! As always I wish we could see the cover model’s face but the shirt open with the relaxed body posture plus pink, bright print is great. I find it very eye catching and very escort-like and if that isn’t a thing, I just made it into one! A+

Basics: Escort was released on March 20th, 2018, published by CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform and is 258 pages long. Genre wise Escort belongs to contemporary romance.

Description: There is no shame in pleasure. And no love in business.
I have a blind date tonight, and I know with 100% certainty that I’m getting lucky. There shouldn’t be any surprises, not for one as jaded as me, but when I walk into the penthouse suite of L’Etoile, everything changes.

1) For one thing, Bea is heartstoppingly gorgeous. Pale green eyes and endless freckles. Curves I want to spend all night exploring, as if her body was made for me.

2) Her innocence makes me want to use my entire inventory of bedroom tricks on her and then invent a few more.

3) Except that . . . she’s a virgin.

I can initiate her into the world of desire without letting her get attached, can’t I? A few hours of tutoring, and at the end of the night a small fortune will be deposited into my bank account.Yes, you read that right. There are many words for what I do. After all, mine is the oldest profession. I’m an escort, which means this date is nothing more than a mutually enjoyable transaction. But once I realize one night with her won’t be enough, I’m the one who’s screwed.Escort.jpgOverall thoughts: I have never read a Skye Warren book before, that being said…I can’t believe I haven’t read anything by Skye Warren before because she is an amazing writer! I adored Escort! It was diverse, it was special and it definitely was very emotional at times. I really enjoyed that the point of view was from Hugo, it’s very rare in the romance book world that we get point of view’s from men but I really enjoy it.

Hugo is the most sought out man in the city, he’s rich, he’s powerful and he knows exactly what to say and do to make a woman feel good. But everyone has an ulterior motive during some point of their lives and Hugo is no different. When he meets with a new client Beatrix, he doesn’t expect what she asks of him. Taking someone’s virtue isn’t exactly what people make appointments for either. Hugo focus suddenly shifts to the beguiling and beautiful Beatrix and why she hired him for such a thing.

All of a sudden Hugo seems to start falling for his client, forgetting the real reason he wanted to be her Escort in the first place. Hugo and Bea are a fantastic couple, their chemistry leaps off the pages and is undeniably, I love reading about them. Not only they do make a sexy match for one another, but their emotional backgrounds and stories touched and warmed my heart.

I think I love Escort so much because not only is the book’s point of view male centered (which again is rare in the romance book world) but also because Hugo is different. He speaks different languages, his backstory is different and most of all he’s Moroccan. I am a firm believer in diversity and I really appreciate what Skye Warren did with Hugo. Escort will be one of my top reads of 2018 and if you love a feel good romance about two broken people coming together to be happy, Escort is for you!

ARC Review & Excerpt: Sinner by Sierra Simone

The Cover: This is cover is amazing, it’s intimate, beyond sexual and so forbidden. Like we shouldn’t be looking at the model, right? Pardon the pun but looking at the cover makes me feel like I’m sinning.

Basics: Sinner was released on March 15th 2018 and is 366 pages long. Genre wise Sinner belongs to contemporary romance, age gap romance and forbidden romance.

Description: I’m not a good man, and I’ve never pretended to be.  I don’t believe in goodness or God or any happy ending that isn’t paid for in advance.

What do I believe in?  Money. Sex. Macallan 18.
They have words for men like me—playboy.  Womanizer. Skirt chaser.

My brother used to be a priest, and he only has one word for me.
Excerpt:  “Zenny,” I mumble against her lips, some valiant part of me recognizing that this is far, far beyond the kiss she asked for, and also recognizing that I’m going to come all over the inside of my Hugo Boss suit pants if she keeps it up.  Even through the clothes, I can feel her heat, her shameless rolls hinting at where she goes soft and wet between her legs.

Fuck, I want to see it.  I want to see her pussy. It’s suddenly all I can think about, all I can want or crave, just one glimpse, just a peek.

“I want to see your cunt,” I say hoarsely, lifting my head.

“My…cunt?”  She says the word like she’s never said it out loud before.

“Yeah.”  My voice is so ragged right now, so desperate, and fuck, I’ve never felt this frantic before.  Like I’ll actually combust if I don’t get this one thing, this one small sight of her secret place.

She lets out a shaky breath, her hand dropping from my lapel to her skirt, which she slowly rucks up to her waist as I devour her lips once more, as I bury my face in her neck and kiss every sliver of skin exposed above her collar.  I bite at her ear, at her jaw, my hand finding hers as it pulls her skirt up, so that I’m helping her do it, that we’re doing it together, this forbidden act, this forbidden revelation.

Her forbidden body.  That word, forbidden, spikes through my mind, bringing with it equal spikes of lust and fear.  Because yes, it’s fucking hot that I shouldn’t be kissing her, I shouldn’t be begging to see her most secret place, my hand shouldn’t be covering hers as it slides up her thigh—but it’s also bad.  Bad even for Sean Bell.

Bad, bad, bad.
Overall thoughts: Sinner is another gift that Sierra Simone has given us! This book was much lighter in comparison to Simone’s other works (I’m still reeling from The New Camelot trilogy to be honest!) but I really loved it. Sean is the classical older bad boy that every romance reader wants and dreams about but I really enjoyed him because one he is absolutely hilarious and two, very relatable. Faith is a very tricky thing and I think everyone tends to struggle with their own faith at some point in their lives. So what would happen if you brought someone who didn’t believe in a God with someone who does believe in God and wants to devote their life to that God? The Nun and the Sinner.

Zenny is a college study who is solely focused on her goals: becoming a nun and helping others, whereas Sean is an older playboy billionaire dealing with his mother dying of cancer and this insane attraction for someone much, MUCH younger than him. But of course there are complications: Sean shares a small past with her, Zenny is his best friend’s little sister, the age difference and most of all…Zenny is about to become a nun.

The story of the Nun and the Sinner just got a bit more complicated. Zenny and Sean are a wonderful couple and their intimacy and chemistry leaps off the pages as you read. Simone has a such a way of words that I’m either blushing scarlet or re-reading the sentence several times because it was that beautiful and powerful. Sinner is a standalone (part of The Priest series) but I honestly wish there were several more books about Sean and Zenny. One of my favorite reads of 2018 so far!

Review: A Court Of Thorns And Roses by Sarah J. Maas

Hello friends! It’s been awhile since I’ve reviewed anything but ARC’s right? I’ve been having the winter blues and missing my Dad lately so I’ve been re-reading a lot of my favorite books to help me feel better. AND I will be attending Apollycon in March and will be meeting the FABULOUS legend, Sarah J. Maas! She is the New York Times best selling author of The Throne Of Glass series and my favorite Young Adult series EVER, the amazing A Court of Thorns and Roses series. Before I became a book blogger and really dived into the romance book world, I was a HUGE reader of Young Adult books. However in 2015 I read two books that seriously killed my love for Young Adult, they upset me so much that I just went cold turkey and stopped reading Young Adult books, completely. So I stopped reading Young Adult books and jumped into the romance book world and haven’t looked back sine. I kept trying to read Young Adult books in between my romance books but nothing made me want to keep reading Young Adult books, I just kept getting disappointed repeatedly. It was almost if those two books that made me stop reading Young Adult books cursed me from reading more Young Adult books! Until I stumbled upon A Court of Thorns and Roses. In July 2017 I was waiting for my husband to come home from deployment and I was getting more and more upset because he kept getting delayed. I went to Target to look for a new book to keep my mind off things and there it was on the shelf, this beautiful cover of a woman surrounded by thorns caught my eye. Twenty four hours later and I was hooked. I immediately brought the rest of the series on my kindle and I’m pretty sure I hardly slept the next week reading this series. A Court of Thorns and Roses blew me away and awakened my love for Young Adult books again. To be honest, this book and the rest of the series could be read as a Young Adult series or just a regular fiction/fantasy/romance book, it’s written THAT well. I love this book and series, Sarah J. Maas is a true gift to this crazy world we live in and I just wanted to share that small backstory before starting this review. Enjoy!

The Cover: They say don’t judge a book by it’s cover but honestly, I had NO IDEA what this book was about and I picked it up because of it’s eye catching beautiful cover. I also love how it reflects the main character, Feyre’s attitude. A+

Basics: A Court Of Thorns And Roses was released on May 5th, 2015, published by  Bloomsbury USA and is 432 pages long. Genre wise A Court Of Thorns and Roses belongs to Young Adult, Fantasy, Fiction and Romance.

Description: When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin–one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.

As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she’s been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow over the faerie lands is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it . . . or doom Tamlin–and his world–forever.
A Court of Thorns & Roses.jpg
*pictures are not mine*

Overall thoughts:  I love this book, there are really no words to express or convey how much I loved and adored this book and the rest of the series. A Court Of Thorns and Roses is a beautiful painting of emotions, watercolor mixed with the best story lines and characters in all of Young Adult, Fiction, Fantasy and Romance genre history. PERIOD.  Feyre is one of those rare heroines that can both appeal to young adults AND adult readers. She is fierce, strong and can be looked up to by anyone. Feyre is a huntress that is trying to take care of her family when suddenly her entire life changes. She is forced to leave her sisters and father and is taken to the Fae world. Little does she know that not everything is what it seems and she is there for a reason.

The world of A Court Of Thorns And Roses is a magical, fantastic journey for anyone that wants to escape the harsh realities of our world. There are lessons that I feel like everyone needs to learn from this book, lessons that anyone could relate to and learn from. Another reason I love A Court Of Thorns And Roses so much because its a page turner, from the moment you start the book you want to know what’s going on or what’s going to happen next. It was a book I couldn’t put down and a book I finished within a day.

It has been a long time since I’ve fallen in love with a book and it’s series like this so much (which is something very hard to do mind you!) and I sincerely hope you will check out A Court Of Thorns And Roses and the rest of this series. ARC Review & Release Blitz: Prince Charming by CD Reiss

The Cover: I really like this cover! I think it’s very eye catching and the colors look fantastic. Usually I like to see the cover model’s face but once I finished the Prince Charming I actually like the nod to mysterious cover model because it makes sense for the leading man in this book. A+

Basics: Prince Charming was released on January 4th 2018, published by Flip City Media Inc. and is 350 pages long. Genre wise Prince Charming belongs to contemporary romance.

Description:  Keaton Bridge is exactly the kind of guy a straight-arrow like Cassie doesn’t need.  For one thing, he’s a criminal—and she fights crime for a living. And being criminally handsome isn’t helping her say no, either. Everything about him screams trouble, from his British accent to his mysterious past.

And Cassie doesn’t do trouble. Keaton’s got his own trouble. He’s trying to go legit, and an FBI agent hanging around is the last thing that will help his credibility. All it took was one night of passion to sear her into his skin. Now he can’t imagine living happily ever after without her.

All they have to do is walk away. But neither of them ever walks away from danger.

Overall thoughts: Prince Charming was such a wonderful surprise for me! As for my first read of 2018 I had high expectations for this book and my expectations were definitely succeeded. Prince Charming was a dramatic, mysterious, sexy read and I was pleasantly surprised when the story wasn’t focused solely on romance. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes I just want to read an intense love story about two people who can’t keep their hands off each other. But there are also times where I wish the stories were elaborated on and that’s exactly what Prince Charming did.

In fact I don’t think the title should of been Prince Charming at all, I feel like Prince of Mystery would of work better or maybe even King of Mystery because Keaton intrigued the living heck out of me! I found myself re-reading some chapters and pages of this book because he was so mysterious and honestly I wanted to know more! He’s the perfect kind of man romance lovers like to read about: speaks with an accent, mysteriously sexy, intense and a bit possessed and most of all…not what he seems.

Cassie makes a great heroine and I love her strength and spunk. She’s a hardworking and very relative, who doesn’t want a good job of their dreams and wants to take care of their family? Don’t we want that all for ourselves? Together Cassie and Keaton sizzle and pop chemistry wise and I actually wish there were more scenes of them together because their chemistry was so strong. The plot was strong and kept me interested, but Prince Charming really shines with the beautiful, deep connected relationship that Cassie and Keaton start to build towards one another. Prince Charming was a great way to start off 2018 and a definitely book you’ll want to add to your TBR!

About the Author:
CD Reiss is a New York Times bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn’t pick up she’s at the well hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master’s degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels.

She’s frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn’t ever gotten her out of chopping that cord of wood. If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.
