Review: Big Shot by Katy Evans

1
The Cover: I think the cover of Big Shot is gorgeous and very aesthetically pleasing. I love how the red and gold colors mesh with the cover model and the city skyline background.

Basics: Big Shot was released on August 6th 2019, published by Harlequin Desire and is 224 pages long. Genre wise Big Shot belongs to contemporary romance.

Description: He always gets his way…until he meets his match.
“I need you back. Now.” —William Walker

I can’t believe I’m letting my ex-boss talk me into working for him again. He’s arrogant. Domineering. He gets under my skin in ways I don’t want to admit. When I quit, it felt great! But now, seeing the big, bad billionaire rendered helpless by a baby, I give in to his demand. And I’m worried it won’t be the last time… —India Crowley

Overall thoughts: Big Shot is Katy Evans first single dad romance book and I absolutely loved it! India and William sizzle off the pages as you read, oh my goodness! At first it seems like the two can’t stand each other (a great start to any romance book in my opinion, I mean..hello? Elizabeth and Darcy?!) but little by little they can’t stop their attraction for one another. I’m new in regards to office romance stories but the whole enemies to lovers trope is something I like reading about and I really did enjoy this book!

Review: Million Dollar Marriage by Katy Evans

From New York Times bestselling author Katy Evans comes a hot romance about two strangers and their race to fall in love. Million Dollar Marriage, an all-new standalone contemporary romance by Katy Evans is LIVE!

COVER (1).jpg
The Cover: I ADORE the cover for Million Dollar Marriage! The color schedule, the gray background with the smoldering model staring at the reader…I love it all! Very dreamy and romantic, I can’t wait to grab it in paperback and put it on my bookshelf!

Basics: Million Dollar Marriage was released on July 23rd 2019, published Montlake Romance and is 272 pages long. Million Dollar Marriage genre wise belongs to contemporary romance.

Description: If someone had bet Nell a million dollars that she would be saying “I do” to a complete stranger on national television, she’d have called them crazy, but with her crushing student loan payments sending her deep into the red, she’s out of options. This should be nothing more than a business transaction—until she sets eyes on her groom, and everything changes.

The game is on the instant Luke spots Penelope “Nell” Carpenter. He’s out for the money, yes, but getting a little dirty with Nell doesn’t sound too bad either. Everyone knows he’s not the marrying kind, so it’s a good thing it’s just for show. God knows he’s the worst guy his pretty wife should pick for real.

They have nothing in common, but if they want the grand prize, they’ll have to beat out eight other couples. Proving that total opposites attract should be easy enough…as long as they don’t fall in love in the process.
2.jpg
Overall thoughts: Million Dollar Marriage is about Luke and Nell, two people who desperately need cash because of their bad financial situations. When you need something bad enough, people do crazy things….such as joining a reality show which is exactly what Nell and Luke do. They are complete opposites: Nell is the quiet, hardworking, no nonsense student while Luke is outgoing, loud, social extrovert. They join the show for money not to like one another or most of all, fall in love. Opposites attract as they say and that is exactly what happens between the two love birds. Apparently reality television isn’t all fake!

Million Dollar Marriage was funny, with added touches of romcom and contemporary romance to wrap it up into one great book! As an avid romance reader I really enjoyed the reality show plot and I always enjoy it when two characters who don’t like each other end up falling for each other. All in all, another great Katy Evans book to add to my growing collection and Million Dollar Marriage is a must read for any contemporary romance lover!

Review: Million Dollar Devil by Katy Evans

Evans-MillionDollarDevil-28091-CV-FT-V3.jpg
The Cover: I love the cover of Million Dollar Devil! The black and white with the hint of red works very well together and the cover model’s expression is very much what I imagined for James.

Basics: Million Dollar Devil was released on May 28th 2019, published by Montlake Romance and is 298 pages long. Genre wise Million Dollar Devil belongs to contemporary romance.

Description: Heir apparent to her father’s company, Lizzy Banks needs a man. The perfect man. But when the rich “fundbabies” she usually rubs shoulders with prove impossible to hire, she takes a chance on a raw beast of a man salvaged from the wreckage of a bar brawl.

James Rowan earns a modest income as a YouTube daredevil, but he can’t refuse Lizzy’s million dollar deal. As she polishes his rough edges, creating a sophisticated gentleman fit for the highest circles of society, not only does she bring out the perfect man—it’s like she’s making the man of her dreams. How can she resist?

Though Lizzy loves seeing James in his clothes—and out of them—he isn’t the kind of man you bring home to Daddy. Her father’s disapproval and the pressure of the campaign have her eyeing the straight and narrow, but Lizzy’s finding it awfully hard to resist the devil on her shoulder…
Blog tour-4

Overall thoughts: Oh my gosh! I loved this book so much! I have been in the WORST book slump ever and Million Dollar Devil just broke it! Katy Evans is one of my favorite romance writers and she just seriously hit this book out of the park. Million Dollar Devil is also available for FREE on Kindle Unlimited so grab for free while you can!

This book focuses on Lizzy and James, two different individuals and a man and woman who are completely different zones. Lizzy is the only child and daughter to  Mr. Banks, the owner to one of the biggest men’s fashion companies in the world. Lizzy is smart, beautiful, hard working and has tried everything impossible to please her Father, but since she’s female and working in a men’s fashion company, the odds are significantly stacked against her. When an opportunity comes for Lizzy to make her Father proud and take the reins of the company she jumps to do so, until she can’t find the perfect man for the new campaign she needs.

Enter James: the gorgeous and cocky Youtuber who doesn’t turn down any dare and will literally do anything for money. He’s a bit rough around the edges and lacks manners but Lizzy immediately gets the idea to turn James into the perfect model for her Father’s upcoming campaign. She doesn’t think about how attracted they are to one another or the fact that their different social standing could put everything she’s built with her Father and career at risk. Million Dollar Devil is a great story about a great couple falling for one another despite their social standings which I love this trope when it comes to romance books. What I also loved about Million Dollar Devil is the fact that Lizzy is such an amazing character and person; she basically has dedicated her entire life to her Father and his business (even going to freaking Stanford!) yet she STILL feels like she’s not enough for him. The things she goes through and how meeting and falling for James plays out, it really warmed my heart and is such a great message for anyone out there who gives it their all and still doesn’t feel like they are enough. Katy Evans has such great messages in all of her books but Million Dollar Devil‘s message will definitely stay with me for a long time. Million Dollar Devil is a MUST READ for any contemporary romance lover!

Review: Boss by Katy Evans

cover.jpg
The Cover: As always I think Katy Evans’ book covers are gorgeous but I’m not a huge fan of Boss’ cover to honest. I don’t know it’s just not my style I guess.

Basics: Boss was released on March 1st 2018, published by Harlequin Desire and is 224 pages long. Genre wise Boss belongs to contemporary romance.

Description: “We play by my rules now.” —Kit, the new boss

Who does Kit Walker think he is? The trust-fund heir waltzes in and wants to boss me around, but if I catch him misbehaving, his father will yank his inheritance. Stalemate, right? Not when our chemistry is irresistible! Ironically, we run the top dating app. Could this be my “perfect match”…or the perfect scandal? —Alexandra, the one in charge.
FEB 21 teaser.jpg

Overall thoughts: No matter what Katy Evans decides to write about I am always going to stop what I’m doing and read it, because each and every book she creates is pure magic. Boss tells the story of Chicago native Alexandra Croft: a successful worker at Cupid’s Arrow, a popular dating app. She is very hard working and clearly is heavily invested in her work, an attribute I find very attractive in regards to a leading lady of any book regardless of genre. However Alexandra runs into trouble when the sexy, irritating, trust fund son of the owner of Cupid’s Arrow, Kit steps into leading the company.

The chemistry between Alexandra and Kit snaps and sizzles, but Alexandra is trying to focus on her career and isn’t trying to jump into bed with the new owner of her company. Trying to ignore the attraction between them Alexandra cannot deny her growing infatuation and feelings for Kit even when he irritates her most. Boss is a perfect office romance story and is one of Katy Evans classic swoon worthy, romance books. Another great addition to Evans growing list of romance novels!

Top 5 Tuesday: Worlds I Want To Live In

t5t-graphicTop 5 Tuesday Hosted by: Bionic Book Worm
Description: A weekly top 5 list, with different topics each week. Topics are announced at the beginning of each month.

This question is from November 13th 2018 but I couldn’t pass it up!
November 13th 2018: Top 5 Worlds I want to live!
divider-3

2.jpg
1. A Court of Thorns & Roses by Sarah J. Maas
Oh my gosh! I am in love with the world of A Court of Thorns & Roses and honestly I’m a little obsessed with these books and fae! Prythian is such a cool world because it has so many different places with different seasons it would be the perfect world to go because if you get tired from one season, you can go to another court. I would honestly spend a lot of my time in Night and Summer court, maybe in Spring and Autumn too.

21787.jpg
2. The Princess Bride by William Goldman
My second pick is The Princess Bride by William Goldman! This book is such a romantic story and I love and adore all the fantasy aspects it has! Pirates, castles, swordsmen, giants, magic and so much more! So many possibilities with this book and I think it would be a complete blast to live in!

3.jpg
3. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling
As a life long Harry Potter fan OF COURSE I would want include the Wizarding World in the list of worlds I would to want live in! I am a proud Hufflepuff and I love, love the books. Hogwarts is definitely the first place I would want to be and visit but I especially would want to visit the Wizarding World because of other places like Diagon Alley, Hogsmeade and the Forbidden Forest.

41QmyQJ-5nL._SX317_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg
4. The Real series by Katy Evans
If you keep up with my blog you know I am a huge Katy Evans fan. Real is my favorite book of hers and honestly it would be so amazing if I could live in the same world as Remington Tate because he’s my hero. His world is basically like ours but I honestly would just like to meet him and have the chance to tell him how much he means to me.

33858773
Fireblood Dragon series by Ruby Dixon
Besides fae I think dragons are amazing paranormal creatures and although it might not end well for me, I think it would be really cool to be part of the Fireblood Dragon world by Ruby Dixon. It’s a post apocalyptic world so things are bit rough considering dragons have taken over the world but I would still like to visit this world because of the dragons.

divider-3
Those are my picks for Top 5 Tuesday: Worlds I Want To Live In! I think I have a pretty nice mix of choices! Fae, a bit of fairytale with a taste of everything, wizards, a fighter and dragons! If you could live in any book world what would you pick?

Review: Muse by Katy Evans

Muse_Amazon
The Cover: I was so sure about Muse’s cover at first but after reading the book it embodies Noah perfectly and I love it!

Basics: Muse was released on September 14th 2018 and is 221 pages long. Genre wise it belongs to standalone, romance, complementary romance.

Description: It was supposed to just be a quick trip to Manhattan.
My best friend was heartbroken. She needed support, and I needed inspiration.
I hoped to love the city. Bustling. Crazy. Inspiring New York.

But I ended up at the airport, heading home in the same condition that I arrived. In a rut. Add to all that, missing my flight and losing my laptop—the laptop, where the Best Love Story Ever sat on my hard drive.

Enter Noah Steele. Eerily familiar. Movie star. Heartthrob. Sultry romeo with bedroom eyes. (But we’re not going there.) He missed his flight too. Noah is so smoldering, lip-bitingly hot, he’s not taken seriously as an actor, and is struggling to launch his career in New York.

He’s only ever had superficial girlfriends, so he’s having trouble showing true passion in his acting—the same challenge I’m having with this book. When we met, we didn’t know that our connection would bring us the change we’d been craving.

That we’d be the very thing the other needed and didn’t know. Each other’s muse.

*This book is a complete standalone and no previous reading is necessary to enjoy.*
Muse.jpg

Overall thoughts: Katy Evans does it again! Muse was everything I wanted and more! Great funny and relatable characters, swoon worthy romance and overall a very loving and heartwarming story. Becka is an aspiring romance author currently trying to dish out her latest book, unfortunately her muse doesn’t seem to want to cooperate. New York City isn’t what she thought it would be and she’s ready to go back home, that is until she loses her laptop which holds all of her writing. Did I mention she loses her laptop at an airport?!

Noah is an actor who is trying to catch his big break but is struggling. When he misses his flight and sees Becka having a panic attack after losing her laptop, he thinks he’s found the perfect distraction from the frustrations of his acting career. And the rest? I’ll let you get Muse and figure out on your own because it is magical! I know for some readers it is annoying and unrealistic when couples hit it off right away but for me I find it beautifully romantic. Becka and Noah fall for each other this way and I just love them! They are definitely my new favorite couple and I know that I won’t be getting over them any time soon!

Muse is one of the best romance reads of the year! It is fast paced, laugh out loud funny and filled with steamy toe curling romantic goodness! A must read and another classic to add to your romance book collection!

Blog Tour & Excerpt: Playboy by Katy Evans

A brand new contemporary romance from New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling author Katy Evans.
Playboy-AN.jpg
Synopsis: It started as a game. We flirted. We played. Most importantly—we won. Then I discovered who he was: Gambler. Famous playboy. Silver-eyed player who never plays to lose…and my best friend’s soon-to-be brother in law, Cullen Carmichael.

He needed a good luck charm, I needed a distraction.
So we made a gamble and set off for Vegas—but pretty soon—I was in too deep.
My heart, soul, and body weren’t supposed to be part of the deal.

But somewhere between big wins and long nights, my house of cards started to tumble. What was this devil with those piercing eyes doing to me?

I’d given up on love, but the wicked, all-in Cullen Carmichael was upping the ante and wouldn’t stop until he’d won it all.

Wynn Cullen.png
Excerpt:

“So you just kissed me because you wanted to.” I speak on a breath.

“Very good. You’re perceptive. Intuitive.”

I realize he’s teasing me in that low, terribly rumbly voice and I wish he would smile at me.

He takes my hand and fingers my palm with his thumb as he leads me to our suite.

I’m sizzling where he touches me, nervously prying my hand free when he leads me into the biggest, most spectacular two-bedroom penthouse suite I’ve ever seen. Not that I’d seen one before in person, only movies.

There’s a kitchen area, and windows from floor to ceiling. A living room, a pool table, gold brass chandeliers, a brown-and-beige-patterned carpet, dark woods, Italian leathers. Gorgeous! I could move in here.

Now I see the appeal but won’t admit as much.

Thinking of our bet, I pay attention to the art on the walls. It’s expensive. I can tell by the numbered print and the signature. Painters with indecipherable and artistic signatures are often the artists to watch. It’s like they know from the moment they paint their first work that they’re on to something big, something that will distinguish their work from all others.

I wish Cullen loved art as much as I do. Maybe I could drag him away from the tables to a local gallery.

“Wow. I could just live he—” I spin around and bump into his big warm body, and he bends his head and kisses my words right out of me.

Kisses me stupid. Kisses my toes curled. Kisses my brain blank. Kisses my heart crazy.

Overall Review July 2018

My Post (43)

Oh my goodness! July went by SO fast! I reviewed some ARC’s for this month but I also did a lot of re-reading for review which was a complete blast! I’ve read a lot of books before I became a book blogger and I’m glad I found a way to incorporate past books I’ve read and loved into my blog! So without further ado, my overall review for July 2018!
 divider 3
I started off July with re-reading the Stage Dive series by Kylie Scott, reading Lick first! It was so much fun revisiting this series this month! Kylie Scott is a fantastic writer and her Stage Dive series is a staple for any romance book lovers collection! This series means a lot to me personally because the books were published during a very transitional time in my life so I really loved re-reading them for review. The Stage Dive series focuses on a famous rock band with all of the four bandmates falling in love. Under really interesting circumstances might I add!

I had the amazing opportunity to read and review for Jen Frederick which I was SUPER excited for! I’m a big fan of her and this was my first solo book of her I had the chance to review for (I’ve only read her other books Erin Watt wise.) Want You is about two kids growing up and falling in love with each other, which is honestly one of my favorite romance trope books EVER. I am a sucker for them. I just think knowing someone for most of your entire life and later falling in love with them, I think it makes it even more special. Not to mention that some criminal activity is involved in Want You, so it’s not just hand holding and flowers, things get a bit nerve-wracking. I love this book and Want You is definitely one of my favorite reads of the Summer!

I also had the opportunity to read and review for some new authors I haven’t read before which was so much fun! His Distraction by Tanya Gallagher was a kinky, fun, adventure read that was a surprise for me. The books where people don’t think they are going to fall in love or don’t want love are always something I enjoy.

2017-471 M L Sparrow, b02
I also had the opportunity to read and review for ML Sparrow for her college romance book, Flirt. It had been a minute since I had read a college romance story so it was a nice change of pace for me.
About the Author: M L Sparrow is currently the author of several full length novels, three novellas and a slew of short stories published in various anthologies. Her novella, A Tangled Web, was a finalist in the 2017 Next Generation Indie Book Awards and in the 2017 Readers’ Favorite Awards. Another novella, Red Days, was a winner in the Book Excellence Awards, Current Events category.

She will write pretty much anything that pops into her head, no matter the genre, and enjoys keeping her readers guessing as to what she will write next, though you can pretty much guarantee that there will be some degree of romance!

As well as writing, she enjoys travelling and is currently living in Tokyo. Her travels are a constant source of inspiration and she has an endless supply of ideas for future novels…

I’ve been re-reading a lot of books for review and to celebrate Katy Evan’s upcoming release Playboy part of her Manwhore series, I decided to re-read one of my favorites, Ladies Man. Oh my gosh, I am just in love with Tahoe Roth today as I was in 2016. My love for that man will probably never go away, haha! I love Tahoe and Gina and their slow burning romance is EVERYTHING. The Darkest Drae trilogy ended with Black Crown and I was really bummed it was finished! I loved all the books (Blood Oath, Shadow Wings and Black Crown) but I was a bit disappointed with the ending. That aside, this book and the rest of the trilogy is a great mixture of Mature YA, fantasy and romance!

My review of Black Crown

Her works include The Tainted Accords, The After Trilogy, and The Darkest Drae. Raye Wagner: As one of eight children, I learned to love reading as a means of escaping the chaos that comes with being a part of a large family. When I was a teenager, I read Leon Uris’s Exodus, and fell in love with the character, Kitty Fremont. Not only was I in love with Ari Ben Canaan (my first introduction to an alpha male), but I felt a connection with her, so much so that I pursued a career in nursing. I continued to collect books and read through college, and even as I established my career. Years later, I read the Twilight saga, my first introduction to YA literature as an adult. I was in Half-Price Books and picked up a middle-grade novel with a boy and a lightning bolt on the cover. I read the first page, and bought the first four Percy Jackson books. Isn’t this series fantastic? After that I was hooked, and YA literature became my genre of choice.

I live in Middle Tennessee with my husband and three children. My favorite things include trips to the beach, baking sweets (and eating them), Tae Kwon Do, and doing puzzles and Legos with my family.

And to finish off July with a bang, Playboy by Katy Evans! I love all of Katy’s books very, very much. However Real and Remy have always held the number one spot in my heart…until Playboy and Cullen came along! I love Remy so much but Cullen comes pretty dang close!!

Review & Release Blitz: Playboy by Katy Evans

Playboy-Amazon
The Cover: I think the cover for Playboy is gorgeous and the yellow with the greyscale is gorgeous but this is seriously like the millionth shirtless book cover I have seen this year! I mean probably not the millionth cover, but it certainly feels like it! That being said it definitely reminds me of Cullen and has calm, cocky, sexy attitude and I love it.

Basics: Playboy was released on July 29th 2018, published by CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform and is 338 pages long. Genre wise Playboy is contemporary romance and standalone.

Description: It started as a game. We flirted.

Overall thoughts: Wow! Woooooow! WOW!! I was completely and utterly blown away and destroyed by Playboy! As many of you know, I am the biggest Katy Evans fangirl EVER and Remy from her first book, Real is my hero. But Cullen gives Remy one heck of a run for number one guy! I fell SO hard for Cullen, oh my goodness! What a character, what a man!

Playboy is part of the Manwhore series universal but definitely can be read a standalone. I definitely loved how all the other characters were included in Cullen and Wynn’s story, everyone is married and riding off into the sunset it seems…except for gallery owner and hopeless romantic Wynn. She is getting over a bad, bad break up and is determined to leave her loser ex in the dust behind her. I don’t blame the girl either, her ex was HORRIBLE. Horrible to the point where Wynn suddenly swears off men…until she meets the Playboy that is.

Meeting Cullen changes everything; Wynn is attracted to him, intrigued and when he offers an escape to Vegas she takes it and their trip changes everything between them. I love and I mean LOVE these two together. They are such a special couple and Evans does a fantastic job with them, they leap off the pages of Playboy and dive deep into your heart making a home there.

No spoilers, but one of the many specials things about Katy Evans as a writer is how she makes each book and couple so relatable. Wynn and Cullen deal with something that 44% American couples face every day and I am really glad and thankful that Katy included this in their love story. I loved Playboy so much, it will definitely be one of my favorite books of the summer and the year!

Review: Ladies Man by Katy Evans

51VIfw03U-L._SX326_BO1,204,203,200_27231804

The Cover: Ladies Man got a new cover this year (2018) and while it’s super attractive and great to look at, I am SO mourning the old cover! I loved the old cover because I truly believed it showed Tahoe’s spirit and I just think it’s gorgeous! The new cover is nice but I prefer the old one.

Basics: Ladies Man was released on April 26th 2016, published by CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, is 290 pages long and is part of the Manwhore series. Genre wise Ladies Man belongs to contemporary romance and standalone.

Description: He’s not the guy you date. He’s the one night stand.

You’d think the man who sends hot looks my way, who called me succulent, would want to strip me to my skin and spread me out on his bed like every other woman in Chicago.

Except he passed on my offer…. Just like I once did on his. He’s wary, like I am. He’s broken, like I am. And everyone knows two broken parts can’t ever make a whole.

So I try to distract myself. I’m back to dating.Tahoe and I are strictly friends. He doesn’t think my new beau is good enough, but to him, no man is good enough for me. Especially Tahoe himself. But the more time Tahoe and I spend around each other, the more confused I feel.

I’m trying to open myself to love. But I’m quickly realizing that the only man I want is stubborn, cocky, unattainable playboy Tahoe Roth.

The one your mother warned you about.
The one my body craves.
The only one who will surely break my heart.

Overall thoughts: Ladies Man is one my favorite books ever and of Katy Evan’s. Tahoe Roth is such a gorgeous, sexy, complex character. Whereas Gina is the beautiful, strong, stubborn woman trying to find her way in this complicated world we have. She is very independent and although she has good friends, tends to find herself riding solo not just with her social life but also when to family and relationships. Tahoe and Gina have been dancing around each other for awhile, both of their friends fell in love and got married…their social circles forever intertwined.  They start off as “friends” but start to change and grow into something that both surprises and terrifies them. Did I mention how much I love this book?!

Gina and Tahoe have such a wonderful love story. Ladies Man is one of the best slow burning romance books I have ever read. Don’t get me wrong, it drove me nuts because I just wanted them to be together already, but these two are definitely worth the wait and angst. Their attraction and need for each other go so much deeper than lust and the love they have for each other is so heartwarming. I seriously love them. I wish Katy had written ten more books about them honestly.

Ladies Man is part of the Manwhore series but can be read as a standalone. You don’t have to know what’s going on in the other Manwhore books but I feel like if you have read the other Manwhore books it makes reading Ladies Man much more special. Again Ladies Man is one of my favorite books ever, it’s been two years and I am still obsessed with Tahoe and Gina. I probably will be for the rest of my life and I can guarantee you’ll love them too!

Favorite Quotes: “Love should make you feel good about yourself and about the person you are when you’re with the one you love. Love should make you feel accepted a you are.” -Gina

“I love every part of you. I could be a thousand miles away from you, stay away from you my whole life, put an ocean between us, take a million other women in my arms, and you’re still the one I want, the only woman on my mind.” -Tahoe
