Review: A Strange Hymn by Laura Thalassa

41nnWPxQ52L (1).jpg
The Cover: As I stated in my other review of the first book Rhapsodic, A Strange Hymn‘s cover is very similar to the first of the series. You can’t exactly tell what the cover is unless you really focus on it, but when you do my immediate thought was OK…what is that? And again it has the red robe that looks a lot like blood, so interesting but most of all eye catching! Exactly what a book cover should be!

Basics: A Strange Hymn was released on May 26th 2017, published by Lavabrook Publishing Group and is 385 pages long. Genre wise A Strange Hymn belongs to paranormal romance and fantasy.

Description: Siren and soulmate to the King of Night, Callypso Lillis survived the clutches of Karnon, the mad king, and his twisted prison. But the nightmare isn’t over. Callie wears the physical reminders of her time as a captive, and mounting evidence suggests the Thief of Souls is still out there.

When a fae celebration thrusts Callie and her mate, Desmond Flynn, into the Kingdom of Flora, they take their investigation with them. But under the bright lights and striking blooms of the realm, they find there are more immediate issues to deal with. No place is more uniquely savage than the great fae halls, and no amount of bargains can save Callie from royal intrigues.

Fairies play dangerous games. Some want love, some want vengeance, some want flesh, and some want things too unspeakable to utter. One thing is for sure: no one is who they appear to be. Not even Des, who only grows more enigmatic with every passing secret.

But the Kingdom of Flora has its own secrets, from bleeding trees to branded slaves and missing guards. Something is stirring in the land of all that grows, and if Callie isn’t careful, it will claim everything and everyone she loves—and her along with it.
A Strange Hymn.jpg
Overall thoughts: Rhapsodic ended with a lot of questions and A Strange Hymn comes back with a lot of answers that literally come out of nowhere. There were several things that were explained or discovered as I was reading and I was really taken aback at points because it was one thing after another.

Callie is finally together with best friend and soulmate Desmond Flynn, AKA King of Night but she is still trying to heal from the horrors she faced from escaping the Mad King, Karnon from the first book. Not only was getting back together with Des a bit stressful, but Callie is pushed even more forward in the Fae Otherworld. Not to mention the fact that the women in coffins still won’t wake up and more fae warriors are missing each day. PLUS Callie thinks Des is keeping things from her, with everything going on around them it seems like their fate is to come back together to only get torn apart again.

A Strange Hymn is A LOT more fast paced compared to Rhapsodic, I found it easier to get into and was hooked from start to finish! Callie and Desmond leap off right the pages and into your heart, I ship them so hard that I genuinely worry about their safety and relationship so much that I found myself on pins and needles while reading. Des is that perfect bad boy, attractive, super sexy guy that most women dream about and I know he may be fictional but Callie is one lucky woman.

I loved this book so much and the ending was so heart pounding explosive that I had goosebumps as I finished A Strange Hymn. I am super pumped for Dark Harmony because where Rhapsodic may of been the first act, A Strange Hymn set the stage perfectly for the finale of The Bargainer series and you are NOT going to want to miss it!

Review: Rhapsodic (#1 The Bargainer series) by Laura Thalassa

25820414.jpg
The Cover: So when I first saw the cover for Rhapsodic I was a bit taken aback because I couldn’t tell what it was! Then I zoomed in and saw that it was a bat wing and was IMMEDIATELY interested. (I have a big love for bats and anything with fae wings.) Another thing I found interesting was the red cloth/robe? I actually thought it was blood but then with the second glance noticed it wasn’t. So in conclusion the Rhapsodic cover is your typical book cover but it DEFINITELY catches your attention and makes you interested.

Basics: Rhapsodic was released on November 15th 2016, published Lavabrook Publishing Group and is 423 pages long. Genre wise Rhapsodic belongs to paranormal romance, new adult and romance.

Description: Callypso Lillis is a siren with a very big problem, one that stretches up her arm and far into her past. For the last seven years she’s been collecting a bracelet of black beads up her wrist, magical IOUs for favors she’s received. Only death or repayment will fulfill the obligations. Only then will the beads disappear.

Everyone knows that if you need a favor, you go to the Bargainer to make it happen. He’s a man who can get you anything you want… at a price. And everyone knows that sooner or later he always collects.

But for one of his clients, he’s never asked for repayment. Not until now. When Callie finds the fae king of the night in her room, a grin on his lips and a twinkle in his eye, she knows things are about to change. At first it’s just a chaste kiss—a single bead’s worth—and a promise for more.

For the Bargainer, it’s more than just a matter of rekindling an old romance. Something is happening in the Otherworld. Fae warriors are going missing one by one. Only the women are returned, each in a glass casket, a child clutched to their breast. And then there are the whispers among the slaves, whispers of an evil that’s been awoken.

If the Bargainer has any hope to save his people, he’ll need the help of the siren he spurned long ago. Only, his foe has a taste for exotic creatures, and Callie just happens to be one.
Rhapsodic.jpg
Overall thoughts: I fell in love with Laura Thalassa with Pestilence, that love continued with I dived through The Fallen World books and I had high hopes for the start of  The Bargainer series, Rhapsodic. I’ve read it twice now and to be honest I wasn’t quite what to think the first time I read it; I thought the first time through was slow placed but interesting. Thalassa has a huge talent for creating enthralling worlds and making you question and wonder about them, she also mixes different things together (in this case fae and sirens) and somehow makes them work well together even when you didn’t think they would.

Callie is a Siren who has an ocean long list of problems. Not only does she hunt down people for a living in exchange, a bargain. Literally she has an arm full of black beads promising her of what she owes and they won’t disappear until all commitments are filled. She is dealing with that but she also has a bigger problem heading her way: The Night King, AKA Desmond Flynn. These two have a complicated past together tied with some really strange occurrences happening in the Otherworld, a lot can happen.

The first time I read Rhapsodic I wasn’t sure what to think, I liked it but I honestly just didn’t know what to think! When Thalassa announced that the third book in The Bargainer series, Dark Harmony was coming out I wanted to give it another try. I’m so glad I did! I really enjoyed Rhapsodic the second time around and really fell in love with it. Desmond and Callie could melt polar ice caps with their chemistry and their past together makes their relationship even sweeter. I love them! The Siren and The Night King.

My only complaint that Rhapsodic was a bit slow burning at first but I think reading it more than once definitely helped and I really loved this book. It’s a fae based, paranormal romance book but it’s darker and I welcome that immensely. Definitely looking forward to re-reading A Strange Hymn

Favorite Quotes: “I love you. I’ve loved you from the beginning. And I will love you long after the last stars dies. I will love you until the end of darkness itself.” -Des

Blog Tour & Review: The Necromancer’s Bride by Brianna Hale

The Necromancer's Bride cover
The Cover: I think this cover embodies The Necromancer’s Bride perfectly and it is exactly how I pictured Rhonda in my head.

Basics: The Necromancer’s Bride was released on October 21st 2018 and is novella/66 pages long. Genre wise The Necromancer’s Bride belongs to standalone, novella, dark romance and dark fantasy romance.

Description: When I was a child he brought me back from the brink of death. Since that day I have borne his mark, a black star in the center of my left palm. The villagers say it brands me as evil. I think it means something far worse. It marks me as his.

The disease that nearly killed me has returned to the village and children are dying. I’m the only one who dares to climb the mountain and learn his secrets. In exchange I’m to clean his house and help with his strange experiments, but Meremon wants more. He wants me. And it isn’t long before I discover that his demands are as twisted as his experiments.

Warning: This story is a dark fantasy romance with scenes of non-consent and dubious consent. Additionally, Meremon is a necromancer and enjoys unusual things. Some sex scenes might be strange or creepy for some readers. As always with Brianna Hale books, no cheating, and a guaranteed happily ever after. THE NECROMANCER’S BRIDE is a novella of 16,000 words.
The Necromancer's Bride.jpg

Overall thoughts: Oh. My. Gosh! The Necromancer’s Bride by Brianna Hale was everything I wanted in a dark fantasy romance or spooky read! Hale created one of the best openings I have read that immediately had me hooked and wanting to know what the heck was going on. “It’s all right, Mama. I’m not afraid to die.” IMMEDIATELY hooked.

Rhona was very sick as a child, in fact everyone is apparently from mysterious illnesses due to people dumping horrible things in the river that has direct ties to their crops.  Everyone who gets sick dies, but not Rhonda. Her Father went up the mountain near the village where Meremon lives, the Necromancer. He saves her life but also marks her with an odd star on her hand. Years later, Rhonda is older and healthy but people in village are still dying. She only lived because her Father brought the Necromancer down the mountain, no one has ever visited him or asked for his help since.

Determined to save her siblings and other villagers, Rhona goes up the mountain for help and also for herself…why did Meremon the Necromancer mark her all those years ago? The answer she finds isn’t exactly what she’s been looking for but she can’t help the growing attraction between her the Necromancer.

The Necromancer’s Bride isn’t your typical dark fantasy romance because it does contain things that could be considered a bit off putting, but honestly I feel like a lot of elements in dark romances are off putting so for me I didn’t mind at all. The only issue I had with this book was that it was a novella and not a full book! I wanted more of Rhona and Meremon’s love story. Besides that I loved this book,  The Necromancer’s Bride is a great Halloween, October/spooky, dark fantasy read and if any of those genres are up your alley, I highly suggest you pick up it ASAP!

Release Blitz & Review: The Day I Stopped Falling For Jerks by Max Monroe

BOOKONE_JERKDUET_TheDayIStoppedFallingForJerks_FinalCover
The Cover: I think this cover is okay, the model is attractive and all but there’s nothing super wow about it and his expression is a bit strange. Overall it’s a nice cover but it’s not a cover that makes me want to buy the actual book but stick with owning the Kindle version instead.

Basics: The Day I Stopped Falling For Jerks was released on October 18th 2018 and is 328 pages long. Genre wise The Day I Stopped Falling For Jerks belongs to contemporary romance and rom com.

Description: I’m Luciana Wright. Everyone calls me Lucky, but when it comes to love, I’m anything but. I have a long history of dating the wrong men. You know the ones I’m talking about. The beautiful, charming guys who are quite literally too good to be true. The ones who are impulsive in love and prefer short flings over long-term relationships.

I’m talking about the jerks. The guys who taste so good, but are so very bad. After going through the most ridiculous breakup in the history of breakups, I thought I’d learned my lesson. I officially put myself into jerk rehab and committed to changing my ways.

But, let’s be real here, love is never that easy. Especially when an arrogant, charming, he-devil of a sexy alpha man gets involved. Aussie accent. Tanned skin. Muscular, surfer bod. Gorgeous brown eyes. And the kind of sexy smile that brings women to their knees.

Oh, did I mention that he’s also my best friend’s brother? Yeah. This story, my story, it’s a real doozy you guys. The day I stopped falling for jerks, I met Oliver Arsen—the biggest jerk of all.

Overall thoughts: This was my first Max Monroe and it did not disappoint! I was really intrigued by the premise of this book and the introduction of The Day I Stopped Falling For Jerks caught my full attention. The authors explained that they were inspired by “jerks” they had encountered when they were younger and everything clicked.

Of course during some point of our lives we all have that one crush OR that one person that is so mean to you, but in reality is acting like a jerk because they like you. Doesn’t really add up and it’s completely counter productive but hey, that’s how human brains work unfortunately. (Hence the reason why I wish I was a cat instead most days.)

Luciana is one heck of a relatable character that will in some shape or form I personally feel like the reader will connect with. She’s funny, strong willed and again so relatable, I’m really looking forward to the next book The Day The Jerk Started Falling

Release Blitz, Excerpt & Review: Cards of Love: The Moon by Sierra Simone

41819392.jpg
The Cover: I. LOVE. THIS. COVER. Oh my gosh! The coloring of it, the lines and style..it just screams tarot and it is very sensual and beautiful. It fits Nimue and Merlin perfectly, I love it and I need it on my bookshelf ASAP.

Basics: Cards of Love: The Moon was released on October 5th 2018 and is 100 pages long. It is a novella that ties in with The New Camelot series. Genre wise The Moon belongs to novella and contemporary romance.

Description: She’s angry that I left.  I’m angry that I died.  It’s the trouble with our two lives: we don’t only have one past to work through, but two.  Double the pain, twice the betrayal.  A million times the tragedy.

***The Moon is the story of Merlin and Nimue from the New Camelot trilogy.  It’s recommended that you read the trilogy first, as there are American King spoilers in The Moon.***

(Cards of Love is a massive multi-author project, a series of love letters to the mysterious and inspirational world of tarot cards.  These can be read in any order, as the only thing the Cards of Love books share is their common inspiration from the world of tarot.)
The Moon Teaser 2.jpg
Overall thoughts: I love and adore Sierra Simone; she is one my favorite authors ever but I did not enjoy The Moon. Let me explain, it wasn’t because of the story or characters it was honestly because I had this idea of Merlin in my head and clearly Sierra has her version and they just didn’t add up. First of all, The Moon is a companion novella to The New Camelot series, so I would definitely recommend reading the trilogy first before reading The Moon. My main issue with this novella was just the fact that I viewed Merlin to be something he isn’t and I just didn’t enjoy it as usual because again, my idea of Merlin was completely different from Sierra’s. Which is my issue. As readers you aren’t always going to like how a character is portrayed and this was one of those times.

Besides that, The Moon was beautifully written. I love a well written point of view from the male perspective and Sierra delivered that and more. Merlin and Nimue’s story is beautifully tragic with an attraction that is so static you feel it in your bones as you are reading. That is definitely a gift of Sierra’s, she writes in a way that makes you feel so connected to her characters that you feel everything they are feeling. Overall The Moon was a great addition to the New Camelot series and great novella, if you are a fan of The New Camelot series or Simone’s work in general I highly suggest you read it.

Excerpt: A hiss in the darkness, then a flame, bright and dancing and unwelcome.

A match, I think, and then I think, whyAnd then: where am I?

“You’re awake,” says a voice like water.  A voice I love.  It still doesn’t help me figure out where I am.

 “Am I?” I ask.  “Awake?”

Like I said earlier, I don’t dream as such, but when I close my eyes, the memories and visions are there, dogging my sleep.  And I think maybe—yes, there is also a memory like this.  A memory of a dark-haired girl and a cave sparkling with light, the night air heavy with the ecstatic cries we fed it.

“You are awake, Merlin.”  The flame moves, calves another flame, and then is blown out.  A candle now glows softly against the face of a woman standing at the end of the bed I’m on.

Dark brows arch high over clear blue eyes and a long nose curves gracefully down the woman’s oval face, framed by a high forehead and cheekbones, and a beautiful, if narrow, jaw.  Her lips are on the thin side, but perfectly sculpted, giving her an expressive, fascinating mouth.  Coffee-dark hair hangs in glossy sheets around her face and down her back.

She’s haunting.  Haunting even as a girl, but now even more so as a woman.

“Nimue,” I say, and for the first time I notice how thirsty I am.  I make to sit up—and realize my hands are tied to the bed. Nimue sets the candle down on an end table, and it illuminates the space enough to show me that I’m indeed in a room and not in the damp mouth of a cave. It means it’s now and not then, which I suppose I should be grateful for.

After all, I died then. A silver key glints from just below the smile of her clavicle, the bottom tip of it pointing to the sweet valley between her breasts I used to know so well.  They are small and pert—her body still the lithe dancer’s body she had as a girl—and my flesh responds to the sight of those little handfuls, the memory of them.  The fantasy of her dusky nipples dragging along the underside of my aching cock is enough to have my body warming, and that’s when I really become aware that I’m not only tied to the bed, but I’m also dressed in a pair of black boxer briefs and nothing else.

Well, nothing else except for the padded cuff around my ankle. Nimue leans forward to untie my wrist, which leaves the front of her swishy dress gaping forward enough that I can see those nipples now, dark rose and erect.

I’d tasted them frequently once upon a time. Once upon a time, twice. In another life, I’d known the feel of her breasts against my lips and tongue better than I’d known almost anything else.

With one of my wrists freed, Nimue straightens and nods at the other.  “You can untie yourself.  You’ll find that the chain allows you more than enough length to do everything you need.  I’m obviously trusting you not to do anything self-destructive, but should the need arise, I can take away this particular freedom.”  She says it cheerfully, almost as if the idea of taking away my freedom delights her.

The key on her chest glints as she steps back, and I understand that it’s the key that unlocks my cuff—the same cuff that is connected to a ring in the floor by a length of slender chain.

Anger comes. And with it shame. And with that, fear. I died once this way, and I’d rather not do it again. I lunge for my other wrist to untie it, needing to be free, needing to reach for Nimue to kiss her or kill her—but by the time I untie myself, she’s out the door with it shut and locked behind her.

Review: The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

26032825.jpg
The Cover: The Cruel Prince’s cover is beautiful but besides the crown (and I guess the thorns?) I don’t think there is anything special about this cover. It’s pretty and simple but that’s it.

Basics: The Cruel Prince was released on January 2nd, 2018, published by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers and is 385 pages long. Genre wise The Cruel Prince belongs to Fantasy, Young Adult and Romance.

Description: Of course I want to be like them. They’re beautiful as blades forged in some divine fire. They will live forever. And Cardan is even more beautiful than the rest. I hate him more than all the others. I hate him so much that sometimes when I look at him, I can hardly breathe.

Jude was seven when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong there, despite her mortality. But many of the fey despise humans. Especially Prince Cardan, the youngest and wickedest son of the High King.

To win a place at the Court, she must defy him–and face the consequences.

As Jude becomes more deeply embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, she discovers her own capacity for trickery and bloodshed. But as betrayal threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself.

Overall thoughts: So this is my second time reading The Cruel Prince by Holly Black. I had heard about the book in early January 2018 and right as I was about purchase a copy, I received The Cruel Prince from my January 2018 Owlcrate subscription! I was so excited because it was like the universe was on my side and leading me to a new great book! Or so I thought.

I hated The Cruel Prince the first time I read it, severely. Nine months later, I wanted to give it another try. Here are some of the reasons I had issues with The Cruel Prince in the first place: One, the whole trope where the leading male bullies and is mean to the heroine but somehow they fall for each other drives me up the WALL. Bullying is a very, very sore subject for me because I was bullied throughout High School and experienced it first hand. So I’m sure that you can understand why I think it is absolutely ridiculous that Cardan bullied Jude horribly and in awful ways and halfway through the book he is apparently in love with her. It would make sense if Cardan and Jude were under the age of ten, but they are not and I just find their whole relationship is ridiculous and super unrealistic.

My other issue I struggled with was the pace of the book and how the book ended. A few chapters in everything was at a slow pace, in the middle things picked up and while reading the end of the book everything happened so fast I thought my head was spinning! It actually reminded me of when Oprah used to hand out gifts, “You get a car! And you get a card!” but for The Cruel Prince it was like “and you find out this piece of information! With this big plot twist! And add another plot twist!” My head was literally spinning with information, information overload basically. Those issues aside, the second time reading it I found that I liked The Cruel Prince a lot better.

The story is very compelling and whimsical, with enough twists and turns of the plot to keep you interested. You might need to make a list of everything going on to tie everything together at the end but it’s still good nonetheless. I still don’t really like or understand Cardan and Jude’s relationship but maybe that could change in the next book when it comes out in January 2019. Overall I think I’m just too picky sometimes when it comes to books and with The Cruel Prince I have learned that each book deserves a second chance.

Review: Lucky by Carina Adams

carina
The Cover: I love this cover! The color, the font and the model are work really well together. The cover model is exactly what I imagine when I think of Lucky and I really, really love it. Definitely one of my favorite sports romance covers.

Basics: Lucky is 340 pages long and was released on February 28th 2017. It is also available on Kindle Unlimited! Genre wise Lucky belongs to sports romance, age gap romance, forbidden romance and contemporary romance.

Description: Everyone loves Lucky # 7. He’s the whole package – smart, athletic, and sexy as sin. A filthy talking bad boy, he can have any woman he wants. Except me.

A chance encounter. One unforgettable night. That’s all we could ever have. At least, that’s what we tell ourselves. Fate has other plans. If anyone found out, I would lose my job. He could lose his scholarship.

Some things are worth the risk. Sometimes, you have to cross your fingers, Roll the dice, and hope lady luck is on your side.

Overall thoughts: It’s funny how easily I can fall in love with a book, but for Lucky it took me about five seconds to fall deep and hard. Carina Adams writing is gorgeous and her characters are laugh out loud funny but have a depth to them that anyone can easily relate to. I loved Lucky‘s plot; personally age doesn’t matter to me (as long as it’s not against the law of course!) and it was refreshing to read about a couple that has some significant differences from one another, but still feel in love. Fiercely I might add. I also enjoyed the side characters, such as Sunshine’s friend Max and especially Josh and Loretta. I wouldn’t might reading about those two either to be honest! I can’t wait till Lucky comes out in book form because I will be immediately buying it and putting it on my bookshelves with much love and pride. Lucky will easily be one of my favorite reads of 2017, hands down. (Original review!)

I do not like football, at all. But I read the blurb for Lucky in 2017 and wanted to give it a try and I am SO glad I did Lucky was one of my favorite books of 2017! Carina Adams is severely talented and is one of those romance authors that you NEED to read! Lucien, AKA Lucky is seriously one of the best book boyfriends I have EVER read about and it’s been a year and I am still obsessed with him! Lucky is a great sports romance to read about especially if you like football romances and a great age gap/forbidden romance as well!

About the Author: Carina Adams has been writing and creating characters for as long as she can remember, allowing her to fall in love with the next man of her dreams with every new story.

Thankfully, fate stepped in and granted her the ultimate wish – a life full of men. Carina lives in a picturesque New England town with her husband, the man who ruined the thought of all others, and two amazing sons who always keep her on her toes.
Carina received her MBA in May, but would much rather play with her imaginary friends (the voices in her head) than work her 8 to 5. When she isn’t trying to juggle being a working mom with karate and football practices, surprising her children with her sci-fi movie knowledge, or writing, you can find her with her nose pressed against her kindle, laughing with friends, or living life vicariously as her Derby Girl persona, Writers Block.
Carina is the author the of Bastards MC series and best selling Forever Red. She is currently writing Out of The Blue, the follow up to Forever Red. She loves to hear feedback from her readers, no matter what type. You can email her at: carinaadamswrites@gmail.com

Review: Rush by Brooke Paige

teaser.png
The Cover: I love the cover for Rush! Covers that feature the couple from the book make me very happy because personally I think they are kinda rare and this cover is gorgeous. It fits Vance and Lauren perfectly and embodies Rush perfectly.

Basics: Rush was released on September 25th 2018 and is 286 pages long. Genre wise Rush belongs to contemporary romance, mafia/crime and suspense.

Description: Bait. That’s all she is. Nothing more. Nothing else. And that’s why she’s wanted, and in danger.

Lauren Owens is so much more. She’s everything. Falling for her was never my intention. But, I couldn’t resist, her charm, her vulnerability, her spirit and drive, and her unimaginable innocence.

And that’s exactly why my father wants her, for his own gain. Now, it’s up to me to take him down, stop him once and for all, protecting her every step of the way. Saving her would mean only one thing: I won’t get to love her.
TEASER 6.png
Overall thoughts: What a crazy whirlwind Rush was! Oh my goodness! I was completely floored by this book and Brooke Paige blew me away! I wasn’t sure what I was getting into when I first started reading Rush because I’m not that big of a fan of mafia/crime type romances but I couldn’t put it down! From start to finish! My only issue with Rush was the fact that it ended on a cliff hanger!!

Vance is out to avenge his mother and unfortunately for him, that means working with his father, the reason he needs to avenge his mother in the first place. Lauren is just trying to figure out how to get her life together and when you need to figure out your life, going to the beach is one of the best solutions. But Vance and Lauren meet at the right time but the wrong place; Vance is trying to take his Father down and keep Lauren out of it. But when his Father takes a sudden interest in Lauren, things come crashing down and Vance is left scrambling to figure out a plan to save her. Literally.

This was my first Brooke Paige book and I definitely hooked on The Riptide series and Brooke Paige. I can’t wait for the next book!

Review & Blog Tour: Strong by Kylie Scott

14_1001_2018_Kylie Scott_300dpi
The Cover: I love Strong‘s cover! I love the colors, the bodyguard and the guitar. I also like the snowflake like designs in the background because they remind me of Martha and how icy she is. I definitely want to add Strong to my bookshelf because the cover is gorgeous.

Basics: Strong was released on September 24th 2018, is 120 pages long and was published by Evil Eye Concepts, Incorporated. Genre wise Strong belongs to standalone, and contemporary romance

Description: From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Kylie Scott comes a new story in her Stage Dive series…

When the girl of your dreams is kind of a nightmare. As head of security to Stage Dive, one of the biggest rock bands in the world, Sam Knowles has plenty of experience dealing with trouble. But spoilt brat Martha Nicholson just might be the worst thing he’s ever encountered. The beautiful troublemaker claims to have reformed, but Sam knows better than to think with what’s in his pants. Unfortunately, it’s not so easy to make his heart fall into line.

Martha’s had her sights on the seriously built bodyguard for years. Quiet and conservative, he’s not even remotely her type. So why the hell can’t she get him out of her mind? There’s more to her than the Louboutin wearing party-girl of previous years, however. Maybe it’s time to let him in on that fact and deal with this thing between them.

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you’ll enjoy each one as much as we do.**
Strong.jpg
Overall thoughts: I love the Stage Dive series and I am huge fan of Kylie Scott. She’s a great writer and the Stage Dive series is a complete blast. I have always been interested in Sam (the band’s body guard) and Martha (the cold sister of Ben and ex of David) and their relationship! So when I found out that Kylie was teaming up 1001 Dark Nights to write a novella for Martha and Sam I was completely ecstatic and she DID NOT disappoint!

I loved Strong! The dynamic between Martha and Sam is adorable and they just make me smile honestly. I was smiling the entire time I read Strong and although I am super thankful they got book, I am bummed it was just a novella because it was so short! Martha left her past and messy, awkward and not so good relationship with Stage Dive behind and went to New York to start over. Meanwhile Sam continued his job protecting and guarding Stage Dive waiting. Years later the band mates of Stage Dive are happily when Martha suddenly shows up…with a bruise on her face.

Suddenly everything changes and Sam isn’t going to wait for her anymore. He’s waited and wanted Martha for years and he’s done with all of that. Martha isn’t so sure what she wants to do: stay or leave. But the one thing she is sure of (but doesn’t quite accept) is her attraction to Sam. Good things come to those who wait! Throughout the series Martha has been looked at the mean, cold-hearted, selfish home-wrecking sister of Ben and honestly? I’m really glad Kylie gave her a chance to tell her story and show how strong her and Sam love is. They are an electric toe curling, laugh out funny couple that I’m so glad and thankful we all finally have the chance to read about. Strong is a wonderful addition to the Stage Dive series and my only complaint was it wasn’t long enough!
