I cannot believe how fast April flew by! It literally just feels like yesterday was April 1st and here we are on April 30th, craziness I tell you! It’s been a busy but good month! I’ve read and reviewed the most this month so far for this year which makes me feel pretty dang good! So in this blog post I just wanted to discuss all the books I reviewed and re-read and just overall discuss the books of April. Happy Reading!
April started off with Love Rerouted by Leddy Harper, a story about finding love in the most unexpected and the most inconvenient of times. I really loved the story and the plot twists Leddy comes up with is amazing!
Blurb: I needed to get out of town but didn’t have a car.
He had nowhere to go and offered to drive.
Forty-eight hours was all we were given.
A lifetime wouldn’t have been enough.
She had something of mine.
And I was determined to get it back.
I thought it was just my getaway car she’d stolen.
I had no idea she’d captured my heart as well.

My second read of April was the heart wrenching and emotional This Time Around by Stacey Lynn. It was very well written with heartfelt characters but honestly was hard for me to read. Lots of angsty and heartache but healing love too.
Blurb: Cooper Hawke was everything I didn’t need. Rich and famous, and a high-profile actor, he lived a life of luxury while my life had always been much more simple.
Yet when he showed up at my cattle ranch in Kansas, he gave me everything I didn’t think I wanted again.
His marriage was over and he was lost. I was still barely surviving in my grief after my husband’s sudden death.
As hard as I tried to keep him out, he slipped past my defenses, and slowly, a connection grew between us I could no longer deny.
But this time around, we were on borrowed time. Because Cooper still had his real life waiting for him back in Hollywood.

My next two reads were books that I read before but re-read because I wanted to read for review and man this series blows me away! The Darkest Drae series includes Blood Oath (book #1) and Shadow Wings (book #2) I’ve been on a fantasy, romance, mature YA kick lately and these two books did not disappoint! I’m super excited for book #3 in this series Black Crown out June 30th.
Blurb: Everything I know is a lie.
I’m an ordinary mortal girl. Lord Irrik is a depraved dragon shifter. King Irdelron is an immortal tyrant. In the disease ridden land of Verald, life is mapped out much like the established rings of our kingdom. Everyone has a role…
Me? I’ll be uselessly serving potato stew for the rest of my life because I can’t make anything grow. But starvation brews rebellion.
When the king strikes, I’m captured by Lord Irrik. Instantly, I’m embroiled in a deadly game. One where I’m desperate to understand the rules. Because nothing makes sense anymore. Now, I’m not only fighting for my life . . . but a love that could be the key to my freedom. What if the truth means you’re not who — or what — you thought you were?

Blurb: I will never be controlled again. A manipulative dragon shifter. A sexy phaetyn prince. Me? I shouldn’t even exist.
With peace established in Verald, I should be free; Lord Tyrrik is liberated from his blood oath, after all. But the freedom in Verald is an illusion. If I remain, destruction will surely follow.
As soon as I come into my powers, the blood-thirsty emperor of Draecon will know. Even now, he is hunting me.
When a Phaetyn prince arrives promising safety, the solution seems perfect. A little too perfect. But is the objective of our group security or something more? Because everyone is telling me what my goals should be.
Who do you trust when everyone has lied to you?
Should I listen with my head – or my heart?
I might not get a choice.

One of my goals for 2018 as a blogger and reader was to find more authors to read and review that I hadn’t read or reviewed before. I noticed I had a bad habit of reading and reviewing for the same authors over and over which was nice but I wanted to branch out. I read the synopsis for The Swedish Prince by Karina Halle and was immediately drawn to it! I’m so glad I signed up to review because I ended up loving this book!
Blurb: I never believed in fairy-tales. Never held out for Prince Charming.
Growing up poor in small-town California as the oldest of six siblings, I knew I would never ride off into the sunset with anyone. That was even more apparent when a senseless tragedy took the lives of my parents, forcing me to become the sole guardian of our dysfunctional household at the mere age of twenty-three.
Then a fateful encounter literally brought Prince Charming to my dusty doorstep. At first I thought Viktor was just your average businessman passing through, albeit obscenely handsome, six-foot-five, blue-eyed, and mysteriously rich.
But soon I discovered the truth behind Viktor’s façade.
Beneath his quiet, enigmatic gaze and cocky charm, is a man who is running away from who he really is. A role he’d rather not fulfill.
He is Viktor of House Nordin, His Royal Highness, The Crown Prince of Sweden.
Yet uncovering Viktor’s secret was only the first step.
I didn’t expect to fall in love with him.
I didn’t expect to have my whole life turned upside down.
When you’re from two different worlds, can your hearts meet somewhere in the middle?
Or do happily-ever-afters only exist in fairy-tales?
The Swedish Prince is a standalone romance inspired by Roman Holiday.

Penelope Douglas won my heart over with Punk 57 and she kinda fell off my radar for some odd reason, but I had the opportunity to read and review Birthday Girl and she is out of this world amazing as a writer. There is just something about age gap romances that attracts me and makes me fall head over heels for the story and characters and Birthday Girl embodied that perfectly.
Blurb: JORDAN: He took me in when I had nowhere else to go.
He doesn’t use me, hurt me, or forget about me. He doesn’t treat me like I’m nothing, take me for granted, or make me feel unsafe.
He remembers me, laughs with me, and looks at me. He listens to me, protects me, and sees me. I can feel his eyes on me over the breakfast table, and my heart pumps so hard when I hear him pull in the driveway after work.
I have to stop this. It can’t happen.
My sister once told me there are no good men, and if you find one, he’s probably unavailable.
Only Pike Lawson isn’t the unavailable one. I am.
PIKE: I took her in, because I thought I was helping.
She’d cook a few meals and clean up a little. It was an easy arrangement.
As the days go by, though, it’s becoming anything but easy. I have to stop my mind from drifting to her and stop holding my breath every time I bump into her in the house. I can’t touch her, and I shouldn’t want to.
The more I find my path crossing hers, though, the more she’s becoming a part of me.
But we’re not free to give into this. She’s nineteen, and I’m thirty-eight.
And her boyfriend’s father.
Unfortunately, they both just moved into my house.
*BIRTHDAY GIRL is a stand-alone, contemporary romance suitable for ages 18+.

Piper Rayne was a new author I hadn’t read before but the synopsis of Manic Monday caught my eye and I loved it so much! I will definitely be on the lookout for future Piper Rayne releases!
Blurb: The perfect man for me is a blood-sucking lawyer.
#pfftwhatever
Been there.
Done that.
Burned the T-shirt.
I didn’t swear off all men after my divorce, but I sure as hell swore off anyone remotely like my ex. On the top of that list? Attorneys. Everyone knows they can’t be trusted.
Now that I’m back in Chicago, my focus is my daughter, my mom and me. I haven’t given up on finding my happily-ever-after, it’s just on hold—indefinitely.
Then I see Reed Warner again, and he weasels his way into every part of my life, not willing to take no for an answer.
In spite of my better judgment I can’t stop thinking about the way his designer suits fit his muscular frame, or the way his blue eyes seem to eat me up with every glance.
You know when you’re on a diet and even hummus seems irresistible? Reed is like the equivalent of chocolate éclair and my willpower is fading fast.
The problem? Not only is he a lawyer…
He was the best man at my wedding.
