The Cover: I adore this cover! It is my favorite cover out of the entire Royally series and the cover model is exactly how I pictured Edward to look like in my head, I love it!

Basics: Royally Yours was released on October 28th 2018, is 215 pages long and is part of the Royally Series. Genre wise Royally Yours belong to romance and historical romance.

Overall thoughts: I honestly believe that Royally Yours is the best book of the entire Royally series. I never thought I would say that because I adored and loved Royally Screwed and Royally Endowed, but Royally Yours just captured my entire heart. It was so well written that I would read a few sentences and just melt over how beautiful they were. I swooned over this book so much and that is exactly what a book is supposed to do, make you fall in love with the story, characters and writing. Royally Yours did that with me and so much more.

I think one of the main reasons Royally Yours touched me so was how Lenora felt; losing people in her life that meant so much to her, losing people that were supposed to help guide and support her as she came into her own as Queen…that really hit home. I lost my Father a year ago and I was thrust truly into adulthood and it has been so hard. Reading someone who has felt the same as I do, lonely, confused and unsure it really hit home.

However I believe more than anything how love can really fix and heal all wounds and Lenora truly flourishes as a woman and as a Queen when she finds her match in Edward. Unlike the rest of the Royally series which is set in modern times, Royally Yours is basically a prequel to the entire series. Which I found so interesting because as history has shown us, many people did like not having women in power. Let’s be honest here, they still don’t and its 2018. Becoming Queen means Lenora has to get married, because apparently you can’t rule a country unless you have a man by your side right?

Not only does she have to navigate becoming Queen, ruling as Queen all on her own without the help of her parents but now she has to get married due to the pressure she’s receiving from government officials. Enter Edward. They met under sad circumstances but their love story is so wonderful and compelling, definitely one of my favorites of 2018 if not ever. I love this story and I am in love with Lenora and Edward. If you love a good old fashioned royal story with sizzling chemistry Royally Yours is the book for you.

Excerpt: Penelope: I stand in front of the mirror in the restroom and gasp. Holy moly, I’m a total disaster. Red is on my shirt, my neck, my cheek, and there’s even a dab in my hair. I let out a heavy sigh as I wipe at it with a wet paper towel. At least my hair is auburn and the red will just blend right in. I scrub at the stain on my shirt, but all I end up doing is making a giant wet spot.

“Forget it,” I mutter to myself a few minutes later as I straighten my lopsided messy bun and adjust my glasses. My makeup is faded, and I reach into my apron for a tube of cherry red lipstick then quickly swipe it over my mouth. Like that’s going to improve the situation. I need a makeover and new clothes stat.

I walk out of the restroom and take in Sugar’s Bar and Grill, a restaurant in Magnolia, Mississippi. The dinner rush is over, but a few stragglers will come in, mostly college students. Only a block from campus, Sugar’s has a modern farmhouse feel with galvanized steel light fixtures, pale pine floors, and straight-back metal chairs, but the food…well, that’s what keeps the place hopping. It’s the only restaurant near campus to get anything you want served up with a side of fresh fried green tomatoes. Their menu also features Southern classics, such as chicken and dumplings or macaroni and cheese with bacon sprinkled on top. Just thinking about it makes my stomach rumble. I was so wrapped up in writing during my break that I forgot to eat.

I sigh and head to the football table, where they promptly hand over the money. “Nice doing business with you, boys,” I say before flouncing off, feeling Ryker’s eyes on me the entire time.

What’s his deal with me? I mean, you’d think he’d want to avoid me because of the article, but it’s as if his mission is to be around me as much as he can. In fact, I’m not even sure he knew who I was before I wrote it since we don’t run in the same circles. I suspect he’s torturing me.

I push him out of my head and walk over to a table that needs bussing, picking up half-empty soda glasses and putting them on my tray. The door chimes, signaling that someone has come in, and I raise my head to see—

Whoa. I freeze. Bring out the angels and cue the hallelujah chorus. Now that’s the kind of man I should be writing sexy scenes about.

Standing at the door is Connor Dimpleshitz—yes, his surname is unfortunate, but his IQ makes up for it. I’ve been crushing on him since our sociology class last semester.

Framed by a golden halo of sunlight as it glints through the windows, I decide he’s what would happen if Albert Einstein and Henry Cavill had a baby. “A hot genius. The perfect unicorn,” I murmur to myself.

I chew on my lip, debating on whether to mosey up to him and say hi or hide. Hide wins. I know, I’m a little ridiculous, especially since we have calculus together this semester and he’ll obviously see me at some point in class. But then I’ll have good hair and ketchup-free clothes.

I quickly survey the possibilities for my escape as the hostess seats him in another server’s section. My eyes land on the right side of the restaurant, where I could make a mad dash for the kitchen, but he’s bound to see me darting since I’d have to walk past him. Plus, I want to hang around and watch him without him knowing.

I come to a decision. Wrangling the tray of half-empty sodas I cleared, I quickstep it over to the back left corner, the farthest away from the double doors of the entrance. I maneuver my body into an awkward hunkering position behind a huge potted plant with wide fan-shaped leaves. At least five feet tall with a gnarly brown trunk, the green monster is perfect camouflage.

I peek around a big leaf that’s in dire need of a good dusting,judging by the motes floating around. Feeling paranoid that someone is a witness to my absurdity, I throw a quick glance over my shoulder to make sure no one’s around.

Ryker. Shit. He’s staring at me from the football table, and there’s a glint in his gaze, as if he’s wondering what I’m doing. I scowl and stick my tongue out at him. He makes me feel so rebellious and flustered and…excited. I can’t even stop myself. Ugh. His expression deepens in amusement, and I grimace, realizing my butt is sticking out. His annoying eyebrow jacks up and says, What the hell are you doing?

With eye telepathy I tell him to mind his own freaking business. I pointedly turn my back on him and focus on The Unicorn.

A few seconds later, a familiar deep voice resonates from behind me, making me start. “You look a little flustered, Penelope. Spying on someone for your next story, perhaps?”

I freeze. Blink. His voice is husky and lower than before when he was calling me garçon, the tone reminding me of languid summer nights under a starry Southern sky while he gives me deep, passionate kisses—

Good Lord.Stop your daydreaming.Must. Stop. Reading. Romances. I heave out a sigh and turn around to face Ryker. What the hell does he want now?

The Cover: I love a cover where it showcases the leading lady, they are rare and far in between and this one of the best covers I have seen in a long time. I love the model and the look on her face, the font and coloring all go so well together. It’s perfect!

Basics: The Day The Jerk Started Falling was released on October 25th 2018, is part of the Kindle Unlimited program and is the second book in the Jerk Duet. Genre wise The Day The Jerk Started Falling belongs to contemporary romance and romcom.

Description: My name is Oliver Arsen, but my mates call me Ollie. I live hard and love harder, and it’s love that usually gets me in the most trouble. According to the greater population, I’m the ultimate jerk.

My affection tends to be short-lived—a quality I’ve been assured multiple times by the fairer sex isn’t becoming—and the leaving part of loving and leaving has always come natural. At least, it used to. Until her. Luciana Wright.

She’s an American bombshell and my sister’s best friend—a woman so wrong for me, it’s written in the waves. And she’s the reason we’re all here. The reason I have to go back to explain how it all went wrong. To the day the jerk started falling.

Overall thoughts: I feel like there is a certain recipe when it comes to writing a great duet and depending on the genre of book it’s really not that hard. Yet there are some authors that attempt to do duets and completely miss the mark. Max Monroe are not those authors.

The romcom continues between Luciana and Ollie in The Day The Jerk Started Falling! But this time the point of view (POV) is from Ollie, his side of the story; which I found to very refreshing but in romance books we always don’t get to hear from the male perspective and since this was a duet I thought it was perfect. One book from the woman’s POV and the second from the male’s POV. Brilliant!

The Day The Jerk Started Falling is laugh out loud funny and honestly Passionflix needs to get a hold of the rights for these books ASAP because they would make the PERFECT romcom movie that rivals How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days or He’s Just Not That Into You. No seriously this book is that good and hilarious! Despite the humor I really think any twenty something person and even older can relate to the sort of situation in this duet and enjoy it immensely. The Day The Jerk Started Falling is definitely one of the funniest romcom books of the years and I’m really grateful I had the chance to review it!

Review: A Strange Hymn by Laura Thalassa

The Cover: As I stated in my other review of the first book Rhapsodic, A Strange Hymn‘s cover is very similar to the first of the series. You can’t exactly tell what the cover is unless you really focus on it, but when you do my immediate thought was OK…what is that? And again it has the red robe that looks a lot like blood, so interesting but most of all eye catching! Exactly what a book cover should be!

Basics: A Strange Hymn was released on May 26th 2017, published by Lavabrook Publishing Group and is 385 pages long. Genre wise A Strange Hymn belongs to paranormal romance and fantasy.

Description: Siren and soulmate to the King of Night, Callypso Lillis survived the clutches of Karnon, the mad king, and his twisted prison. But the nightmare isn’t over. Callie wears the physical reminders of her time as a captive, and mounting evidence suggests the Thief of Souls is still out there.

When a fae celebration thrusts Callie and her mate, Desmond Flynn, into the Kingdom of Flora, they take their investigation with them. But under the bright lights and striking blooms of the realm, they find there are more immediate issues to deal with. No place is more uniquely savage than the great fae halls, and no amount of bargains can save Callie from royal intrigues.

Overall thoughts: Rhapsodic ended with a lot of questions and A Strange Hymn comes back with a lot of answers that literally come out of nowhere. There were several things that were explained or discovered as I was reading and I was really taken aback at points because it was one thing after another.

Callie is finally together with best friend and soulmate Desmond Flynn, AKA King of Night but she is still trying to heal from the horrors she faced from escaping the Mad King, Karnon from the first book. Not only was getting back together with Des a bit stressful, but Callie is pushed even more forward in the Fae Otherworld. Not to mention the fact that the women in coffins still won’t wake up and more fae warriors are missing each day. PLUS Callie thinks Des is keeping things from her, with everything going on around them it seems like their fate is to come back together to only get torn apart again.

A Strange Hymn is A LOT more fast paced compared to Rhapsodic, I found it easier to get into and was hooked from start to finish! Callie and Desmond leap off right the pages and into your heart, I ship them so hard that I genuinely worry about their safety and relationship so much that I found myself on pins and needles while reading. Des is that perfect bad boy, attractive, super sexy guy that most women dream about and I know he may be fictional but Callie is one lucky woman.

I loved this book so much and the ending was so heart pounding explosive that I had goosebumps as I finished A Strange Hymn. I am super pumped for Dark Harmony because where Rhapsodic may of been the first act, A Strange Hymn set the stage perfectly for the finale of The Bargainer series and you are NOT going to want to miss it!

The Cover: I think this cover embodies The Necromancer’s Bride perfectly and it is exactly how I pictured Rhonda in my head.

Basics: The Necromancer’s Bride was released on October 21st 2018 and is novella/66 pages long. Genre wise The Necromancer’s Bride belongs to standalone, novella, dark romance and dark fantasy romance.

Description: When I was a child he brought me back from the brink of death. Since that day I have borne his mark, a black star in the center of my left palm. The villagers say it brands me as evil. I think it means something far worse. It marks me as his.

The disease that nearly killed me has returned to the village and children are dying. I’m the only one who dares to climb the mountain and learn his secrets. In exchange I’m to clean his house and help with his strange experiments, but Meremon wants more. He wants me. And it isn’t long before I discover that his demands are as twisted as his experiments.

Overall thoughts: Oh. My. Gosh! The Necromancer’s Bride by Brianna Hale was everything I wanted in a dark fantasy romance or spooky read! Hale created one of the best openings I have read that immediately had me hooked and wanting to know what the heck was going on. “It’s all right, Mama. I’m not afraid to die.” IMMEDIATELY hooked.

Rhona was very sick as a child, in fact everyone is apparently from mysterious illnesses due to people dumping horrible things in the river that has direct ties to their crops. Everyone who gets sick dies, but not Rhonda. Her Father went up the mountain near the village where Meremon lives, the Necromancer. He saves her life but also marks her with an odd star on her hand. Years later, Rhonda is older and healthy but people in village are still dying. She only lived because her Father brought the Necromancer down the mountain, no one has ever visited him or asked for his help since.

Determined to save her siblings and other villagers, Rhona goes up the mountain for help and also for herself…why did Meremon the Necromancer mark her all those years ago? The answer she finds isn’t exactly what she’s been looking for but she can’t help the growing attraction between her the Necromancer.

The Necromancer’s Bride isn’t your typical dark fantasy romance because it does contain things that could be considered a bit off putting, but honestly I feel like a lot of elements in dark romances are off putting so for me I didn’t mind at all. The only issue I had with this book was that it was a novella and not a full book! I wanted more of Rhona and Meremon’s love story. Besides that I loved this book, The Necromancer’s Bride is a great Halloween, October/spooky, dark fantasy read and if any of those genres are up your alley, I highly suggest you pick up it ASAP!
