Blog Tour & Excerpt: Close by Laurelin Paige

Blurb:  Everyone wants to get close to a rock star. The bright lights. The music. Those talented fingers strumming… a guitar. Everyone wants to bang a rock star.

So why do I keep running from the one who wants me? I’m America’s Sweetheart. I have a reputation. He’s a boy-band icon turned rock god. I’m vanilla. He’s every flavor of bad. And he’s much, much too young for me.

If I end up in Nick Ryder’s bed, my career and I will both be screwed.…but that’s only if I’m caught.

He’s wearing jeans and a T-shirt and a hoodie, and his face doesn’t look like he’s tired, or like he stayed up late to drink too much and tear up the dance floor.

Or like he spent last night making out with somebody more than a decade older than him.

“It’s crazy seeing you here,” I say. I giggle again at the sheer ridiculousness of this. “Do you come here often?” What am I doing? What am I saying? It’s like I just learned how to talk to people of the opposite sex. How have I ever gotten a date?

Not that I’m trying to date Nick. “Occasionally. You?” He sticks his hands in his pockets and he’s so relaxed, so sexy, and I just can’t stand all that swagger on such a handsome guy that I am not allowed to touch. It’s unfair for anyone to look so effortlessly edible before nine a.m.

“It’s my favorite shop. Come here all the time.” I take a couple steps backwards, trying to shift toward my car. “I probably should—”

“Don’t you think it’s probably more than a coincidence?” He takes a step towards me, and I take one back, willing myself not to respond to the rumble of his deep voice and the magnetism of his body. “That we’d see each other again so soon. Kind of like fate, almost.”

Oh my god, Oh my god, he’s flirting with me. What do I do? He’s so hot, I can’t even look at him. But then I do, and I have total church-giggles over this, and I have to escape before I make an even bigger fool out of myself. Someone is bound to notice that I am losing my cool, and they’ll draw conclusions that aren’t even true. It was just kissing!

“It’s really weird, I have to admit.” I dance back some more, then glance behind me to make sure I’m not going to back into the street and get run over and make this even worse. “And really awkward.” I brush some hair back that’s come loose from the messy bun at the base of my neck.

He shrugs, seeming to disagree. And it’s true that I’m the only one who seems to be awkward right now. “I don’t know about that. Doesn’t have to be awkward. Could just be convenient. Since I never got your phone number.”

If I didn’t think he was flirting before, I know he definitely is now. I don’t want to say no to him, but I have to say no to him. He cannot have my number. Can’t have anything more than a memory of a scorching-hot make-out in the back of a club. What we did was not for a sunlit day. It was for a dark corner. And yet, I still can’t seem to actually say the word no. So instead I say, “Why do you need my phone number?”

Oh my god, this is mortifying. It really is like I’m in high school again and I’ve forgotten not only how to talk to boys but how to stand in their presence. He takes another step toward me, laughing. “Well, for one thing, I thought it might be nice if we had dinner sometime.”

He has the most ridiculous smile, I realize. It lights up his entire face. You can see it in his eyes, and there’s no pretension. It’s all genuine. Pure sunshine. I’m rendered speechless by it for half a second and I have to ask, “What was that?”

“Dinner,” he says, that huge-ass grin in full force, taking another step toward me, and now there’s only three feet between us, and I can feel the body heat from him, can remember what it felt like the last time he walked me backwards into a wall and then his body was pressing into me, and his mouth was on me. When his chest was against me, when his cock was pressing into me and my hips—

I suddenly jump backwards. “I don’t think that would be a good idea.” I look around suddenly to see if anyone’s noticed this exchange yet. It’s fine, it’s still fine. We’re just two people who work in the same industry who bumped into each other on a Saturday morning and are chatting like people do on Saturday mornings when they bump into each other. While giggling. Totally fine.

“What are you worried about, Natalia?” He doesn’t chase after me, just stands there looking confident and laid-back. Like a man trying to tempt a scared animal out from hiding. “I mean—I do bite, but most women like it.”

I smile at that, because I can’t help it, but I duck so he doesn’t see. He’s probably so much more experienced than me. He’s probably so dirty in the bedroom. God, I shouldn’t be thinking about that. “I shouldn’t even be talking to you,” I say, shaking my head. I turn toward my car.

“No, you shouldn’t be,” he calls from behind me, and I have to actually close my eyes to collect myself because it’s obvious he’s thinking about doing not-talking things. Things like last night. Things like biting. Things good girls have no business being so turned on by. I tell myself he probably says stuff like that to all the girls who walk away from him.

But who am I kidding? Who has ever walked away from Nick Ryder? Besides me, I mean. Twice now. I deserve an Oscar for my willpower. That should be a new category.

“Bye, Nick,” I call as I flee with my coffee. Then I step into my car, put my keys in the ignition and drive away before I lose my senses and change my mind.

ARC Review: One More Time by Laurelin Paige

one 1.jpg
The Cover: There have been so many good book covers with couples on them lately and I am head over heels for One More Time‘s cover! It embodies Jenna and Tanner perfectly, I love it! A+

Basics:One More Time was released on May 2nd 2018. Genre wise One More Time belongs to contemporary romance and second chance romance.

Description: Ten years ago, we were the toast of the town.
Tanner’s acting career had just begun. He was hotter than the stage lights, and twice as captivating. The gorgeous Australian A-lister was everyone’s teenage dream. And he’d picked or so I thought, until he proved to be as false as everything else about Hollywood. Now I’ve finally scored the perfect opportunity to star in a major film. The kicker? Tanner will be my co- star. I don’t know if I can do this one more time….

Right now, we’re the talk of the town.
Jenna’s even more beautiful than she was the last time we were together. And just like before, I can’t keep my hands off her. She still doesn’t know the truth. The secret of what really happened back then. Now I have the length of this shoot to convince her to rewrite our script. But if I have her one more time, will once ever be enough?
One More Time.jpgOverall thoughts: I want to start off by saying how much of a talented Laurelin Paige is! She just has this way with words that just transports you into the heart and mind of the character she’s narrating through and it is one of the most greatest reading experiences I’ve ever had. Second chance romance is one of my favorite genres when it comes to the romance community and book world; everyone loves seeing two people come back together after time and distance. It’s dramatic, romantic and in a way reminds us that sometimes love doesn’t fade. It doesn’t always happen but when it does, it’s magical.

Jenna used to be a well known model, now she’s putting up her heels from the runaway and trying to dive into the waters of acting. However this is Hollywood and nothing ever comes easy, she’s feeling pretty down about herself and her acting future until her agent offers her a deal of a lifetime. Problem is…she would act and reunite with Tanner, the man who broke her heart ten years ago. After deciding she can push away her broken heart, she rallies herself and signs on to act in the movie with Tanner, knowing that even if though their time together may be difficult she knows in the end it will help her.

Tanner is completely blown away when he sees Jenna again; she’s still the same woman he knew before but also different. The same feelings that withered between them ten years ago seem to blossom again, but Jenna wants to stay professional and Tanner suddenly finds himself falling for her all over again. You can’t fight fate and these two are definitely meant to be together.

One More Time is a beautiful second chance romance story with two characters struggling to figure out how they feel for one another. It’s one of my favorite tropes because as you read it, you really aren’t sure what’s going on or what happened between these two people but you juts want them to make it work! That’s how it is for me when it comes to reading second chance romance anyway! Tanner and Jenna are an electric couple and I loved how they couldn’t stay away from each other, even after ten years. One More Time is a great second chance romance read and if you are a fan of this genre you will definitely love it as much as I did!

Sierra Simone has a new release American King coming out next week so in honor of that I thought I would review one of Summer 2017’s hottest releases. Both Sierra and Laurelin are amazing writers and I really love their books. Together they make an incredible team and  I’m really excited to share my thoughts on Hot Cop with you guys!

The Cover: I like this cover a lot! I think it’s okay, it fits the story of the book perfectly and the model is very attractive. I like how his eyes are covered by glasses too giving off that ‘hot cop’ vibe. B+

Basics: Hot Cop was released on June 13th 2017 and is 288 pages long. Genre wise Hot Cop belongs to contemporary romance and cop romance.

Chase: You have the right to remain sexy.
Anything you say can and will be used to get you in my bed.
You have the right to use my body to give yourself a delirious, life-changing orgasm.
If you have trouble…don’t worry, I’m a bit of an expert in that department.
There’s nothing ‘thin’ about my blue line, if you catch my drift, and trust me, I know how to put those handcuffs to good use.

Livia Ward wants a baby before she’s thirty.  And even though Officer Chase Kelly is exactly the kind of cocky jerk this librarian has sworn off, he is undeniably hot.  Both of them think they can give each other what they want–a few nights of fun for Officer Kelly, a no-strings baby for Livia–but this hot cop is about to learn that sex, babies, and love don’t always play by the rules.

Overall thoughts: Sierra Simone and Laurelin Paige are pure magic together, no seriously…they are literally the Disney version duo of the romance book world. Simone and Paige are fantastic writers, they create relatable and really attractive characters that make you root for them and covert them at the same time. Hot Cop is a great, funny and very steamy read. Livia Ward is a character that I think every person can relate to because let’s be honest, we all have a point in our lives where we are scared of how old we are getting or we fear we haven’t done enough in our lives. Suddenly the age you are about to become looms over your head and any age older than what you are is a death sentence.

I am about to turn twenty six on Saturday and I can relate so hard to Livia. But her situation is a little bit different because she fears she’s getting too old to have a child. Enter Mr. Hot Cop himself Chase Kelly. At first he really just wants to bed Livia and move on with his Hot Cop ways but when he hears her proposal, a contract to conceive a baby with her suddenly everything changes. These two have great chemistry, they are funny and they will make your toes curl when you read about them.

Hot Cop was one of my favorite summer reads and it’s a fantastic read if you’re into a story about two people clumsily falling in love and trying to make a baby at the same time while navigating everything else going around them. Hot Cop is currently on sale for $0.99 and is free to read if you’re part of the Kindle Unlimited program which I highly recommend doing! Happy Reading!
