Review: Million Dollar Marriage by Katy Evans

From New York Times bestselling author Katy Evans comes a hot romance about two strangers and their race to fall in love. Million Dollar Marriage, an all-new standalone contemporary romance by Katy Evans is LIVE!

COVER (1).jpg
The Cover: I ADORE the cover for Million Dollar Marriage! The color schedule, the gray background with the smoldering model staring at the reader…I love it all! Very dreamy and romantic, I can’t wait to grab it in paperback and put it on my bookshelf!

Basics: Million Dollar Marriage was released on July 23rd 2019, published Montlake Romance and is 272 pages long. Million Dollar Marriage genre wise belongs to contemporary romance.

Description: If someone had bet Nell a million dollars that she would be saying “I do” to a complete stranger on national television, she’d have called them crazy, but with her crushing student loan payments sending her deep into the red, she’s out of options. This should be nothing more than a business transaction—until she sets eyes on her groom, and everything changes.

The game is on the instant Luke spots Penelope “Nell” Carpenter. He’s out for the money, yes, but getting a little dirty with Nell doesn’t sound too bad either. Everyone knows he’s not the marrying kind, so it’s a good thing it’s just for show. God knows he’s the worst guy his pretty wife should pick for real.

They have nothing in common, but if they want the grand prize, they’ll have to beat out eight other couples. Proving that total opposites attract should be easy enough…as long as they don’t fall in love in the process.
2.jpg
Overall thoughts: Million Dollar Marriage is about Luke and Nell, two people who desperately need cash because of their bad financial situations. When you need something bad enough, people do crazy things….such as joining a reality show which is exactly what Nell and Luke do. They are complete opposites: Nell is the quiet, hardworking, no nonsense student while Luke is outgoing, loud, social extrovert. They join the show for money not to like one another or most of all, fall in love. Opposites attract as they say and that is exactly what happens between the two love birds. Apparently reality television isn’t all fake!

Million Dollar Marriage was funny, with added touches of romcom and contemporary romance to wrap it up into one great book! As an avid romance reader I really enjoyed the reality show plot and I always enjoy it when two characters who don’t like each other end up falling for each other. All in all, another great Katy Evans book to add to my growing collection and Million Dollar Marriage is a must read for any contemporary romance lover!

Review: Million Dollar Devil by Katy Evans

Evans-MillionDollarDevil-28091-CV-FT-V3.jpg
The Cover: I love the cover of Million Dollar Devil! The black and white with the hint of red works very well together and the cover model’s expression is very much what I imagined for James.

Basics: Million Dollar Devil was released on May 28th 2019, published by Montlake Romance and is 298 pages long. Genre wise Million Dollar Devil belongs to contemporary romance.

Description: Heir apparent to her father’s company, Lizzy Banks needs a man. The perfect man. But when the rich “fundbabies” she usually rubs shoulders with prove impossible to hire, she takes a chance on a raw beast of a man salvaged from the wreckage of a bar brawl.

James Rowan earns a modest income as a YouTube daredevil, but he can’t refuse Lizzy’s million dollar deal. As she polishes his rough edges, creating a sophisticated gentleman fit for the highest circles of society, not only does she bring out the perfect man—it’s like she’s making the man of her dreams. How can she resist?

Though Lizzy loves seeing James in his clothes—and out of them—he isn’t the kind of man you bring home to Daddy. Her father’s disapproval and the pressure of the campaign have her eyeing the straight and narrow, but Lizzy’s finding it awfully hard to resist the devil on her shoulder…
Blog tour-4

Overall thoughts: Oh my gosh! I loved this book so much! I have been in the WORST book slump ever and Million Dollar Devil just broke it! Katy Evans is one of my favorite romance writers and she just seriously hit this book out of the park. Million Dollar Devil is also available for FREE on Kindle Unlimited so grab for free while you can!

This book focuses on Lizzy and James, two different individuals and a man and woman who are completely different zones. Lizzy is the only child and daughter to  Mr. Banks, the owner to one of the biggest men’s fashion companies in the world. Lizzy is smart, beautiful, hard working and has tried everything impossible to please her Father, but since she’s female and working in a men’s fashion company, the odds are significantly stacked against her. When an opportunity comes for Lizzy to make her Father proud and take the reins of the company she jumps to do so, until she can’t find the perfect man for the new campaign she needs.

Enter James: the gorgeous and cocky Youtuber who doesn’t turn down any dare and will literally do anything for money. He’s a bit rough around the edges and lacks manners but Lizzy immediately gets the idea to turn James into the perfect model for her Father’s upcoming campaign. She doesn’t think about how attracted they are to one another or the fact that their different social standing could put everything she’s built with her Father and career at risk. Million Dollar Devil is a great story about a great couple falling for one another despite their social standings which I love this trope when it comes to romance books. What I also loved about Million Dollar Devil is the fact that Lizzy is such an amazing character and person; she basically has dedicated her entire life to her Father and his business (even going to freaking Stanford!) yet she STILL feels like she’s not enough for him. The things she goes through and how meeting and falling for James plays out, it really warmed my heart and is such a great message for anyone out there who gives it their all and still doesn’t feel like they are enough. Katy Evans has such great messages in all of her books but Million Dollar Devil‘s message will definitely stay with me for a long time. Million Dollar Devil is a MUST READ for any contemporary romance lover!

WIP - AN.jpg
Blurb: I never thought my first kiss would be on my wedding day. But here I stand, clutching a bouquet of pale pink roses behind the doors of a Las Vegas chapel, and at the end of the aisle is the absolute last man I imagined would be waiting for me.

Excerpt:
The hall bathroom door opened, consequently stopping the earth’s orbit and flinging me into space for lack of gravity.

Thomas Bane stepped out of the doorway in slow motion, propelled by a cloud of steam that licked at his glistening body like it wanted to taste him. His hair was black, wet, curling and dripping in rivulets down the planes and valleys of his expansive chest and abs and narrow hips. He had that thing, the trough of muscle bracketing his hips that caught sluicing water and carried it in an angle that would eventually reach that unknown terrain beneath his towel. I saw the ghost of that terrain, the long, cylindrical bulge that was substantial enough to clearly state its presence, even through the thick towel.

He smirked, dragging his hand through his wet hair. I salivated, watching droplets of water roll down his forearm and collect on the tip of his erotic elbow.

“You’re up,” he said.

I blinked, not knowing when I’d set my coffee down or how many minutes—hours? years?—had passed in the time I spent ogling his body.

He sauntered into the room like he wasn’t basically naked. I tried unsuccessfully not to stare at his knees, the place where his ropy thigh connected, the angular muscles of his calves, the curve of his ankle, the broad pad of his foot.

He was perfectly proportioned. Michelangelo would have carved him twenty feet tall, and women would have worshipped at his perfect feet.

Gus bounced when he saw Tommy, his toys forgotten. And when Gus took off running, Tommy stopped, eyes widening and hands splayed in front of him.

“Gus, no,” he commanded. To no one’s surprise, Gus did not listen. He barked once, snagged the hem of Tommy’s towel, and whipped it off him in a single tug that exposed every inch of skin on Thomas Bane’s ridiculous body.

Thank God my coffee was already on the counter. I’d have gotten third-degree burns.

For a split second, Tommy was frozen there in all his natural glory, poised to run after his dog, his face drawn and eyes locked on the sweet, disobedient dog. He wasn’t paying any attention to me.

I, however, gave him my full and undivided consideration.

His thighs were a mass of muscle so hard and defined, the tops were planes that came to a notch at his knee and a point where it met his hip. My eyes caught that trough that had before disappeared and followed it where it pointed—straight to the thatch of dark hair and the member nestled there.

The very thick, very long, mostly limp member.

If I stared at it a second longer, I was going to faint—my vision was already dim, my pulse pumping so hard, I could feel it in my neck, at the back of which a cold sweat had broken.

But he shifted to run after Gus, who was galloping away, trailing the towel behind him.

“Dammit, Gus! Gimme that!”

Then it was the back of him I saw, his hair, the streaming water rolling down all the curves of his shoulders, his back, the valley of his spine, and down to the most perfect ass I’d ever seen in real life.

Well, the only ass I’d ever seen in real life that wasn’t my own, and even that I couldn’t get a good look at without a mirror.

Seriously, that ass. That perfectly sculpted ass, round and tight and curved in the sides, shifting from one side to the other as he ran after the damn dog. My gaze caught a tattoo on one ass cheek, and I squinted at it, trying to make it out.

Tommy bent to snag the end of the towel—I caught sight of his sack and almost dissolved through the floor in an acidic puddle of embarrassment—but when he pulled, Gus spun around, ass in the air and tail wagging as he growled, pulling back.

A string of obscenities left Tommy’s mouth, but I was still gaping and staring at his ass. I realized that I was laughing. It sounded like someone else in a different room.

I wondered absently if this was how it felt to have a stroke.

Blog Tour & Review: Come To Daddy by Brianna Hale

come to daddy ebookThe Cover: I am in LOVE with this book cover! Head over heels! The male model is beautiful yes, but I love the font and the coloring too. Everything just molds and blends in together and I just LOVE it. This book needs to be on my bookshelf immediately!

Basics: Come To Daddy by Brianna Hale was released on December 19th 2019, is the first book in the Love Don’t Cost A Thing series and is 235 pages long. Genre wise Come To Daddy belongs to contemporary romance, erotic romance  and suspense.

Description: Rules for the New Sugar Baby:
1. Are you worth it? Hell yes you are, ten times over
2. Hustle big, hustle hard and get out fast
3. Never, ever fall for your sugar daddy

I’ve always believed “I’m not that sort of girl,” but with my father’s debt to a bloodthirsty crime lord to pay off I have no choice but to dip into the sugar bowl.

Misha, a handsome older billionaire, is willing to pay top price for me. Something about my daddy doesn’t add up but with a debt to pay I don’t have the luxury of being picky. I’m the luxury in his life, his fantasy to fulfil, and I’m going to play my part to the fullest.

My name is Ciara, and when daddy calls, I come.
*** Book one of the LOVE DON’T COST A THING series**
Daddy 2.jpg
Overall thoughts: Come To Daddy by Brianna Hale was SO good! I devoured this book within in hours! I actually made the mistake of starting this book around 9PM and I was up till 3:30am because I couldn’t put it down! Misha and Ciara made me swoon over and over again and I just loved, loved, LOVED this book!

To be honest, I was a bit wary of this book when I first signed up to review it. I had the wonderful opportunity to read and review for Brianna Hale last year and I wanted to do it again because I really enjoyed The Necromancer’s Bride. But the synopsis for Come To Daddy scared me a bit because I’m not too keen on the whole sugar daddy genre when it comes to romance books. But I gave it a chance and again, I was completely blown away by this book!

Come To Daddy was not what I expected at all! This book is Ciara’s and Misha’s story: a young college student struggling because of her recently departed parents debt and sins and there’s Misha an older gentleman who is focused on his career and doesn’t want to be tied up with his brother’s dirty work anymore, even though the bond between is strong it’s tainted from their past. When Misha sees Ciara being tormented by his brother, something flares up in him and he is immediately drawn to helping her. Offering to become her sugar daddy to help with her parent’s debt and hopefully keep his brother at bay, Misha and Ciara become entangled with falling for one another all the while juggling the incoming danger hanging over their heads. Again when reading the synopsis you wouldn’t think a book like this would be like that but it is! Contemporary romance with a little erotic and a lot of suspense all wrapped into one! Come To Daddy is a must read for the start of 2019 and I CANNOT wait for the second book in the Love Don’t Cost A Thing series!

Blurb: I was reunited with Livingston Montgomery in the broad sunshine of a Carolina morning, right where she belonged; in the light.

She was living in the shadows, just a shell of the former girl I knew.  But it didn’t matter that she tried to hide from me in the dark. I’d follow her into the deepest depths of hell.

IHS3.jpg
Excerpt:
“Come to my office now.” Patience had never been a virtue for this man.

“Adam, please.” My voice even sounded desperate to my own ears. Couldn’t he just give me a break one fucking day? Since he’d been home, my life had been in turmoil.

I think it was the use of his first name that gave him pause and gave me a bit of hope that he was going to leave me the hell alone today.

“My office. Now. I’m the boss.” And then he clicked off.

        “Bastard,” I whispered.

A click. “I heard that.” And then another click.

I rolled my eyes as I cleaned my paper mess. I made sure to take my damn time going to his office. He may have been my boss, but he wasn’t the boss of me. Yeah, I was pretty mature today.

I knocked at the door and no one answered, so I knocked again. Harder.

Eventually, Adam turned the knob and opened it, his cell phone to his ear. He motioned with his hand for me to have a seat in the chair in front of his desk while he sat behind his desk, still on the phone.

The longer I sat there, the angrier I got. I didn’t even want to come in here and he insisted on it so he could sit his ass on the phone and look at me. It didn’t even seem like he was really talking to anyone except for the occasional yes or good from his mouth. He was making my already shitty day even shittier.

He finally hung up the phone and just gazed at me from the other side of the desk. I raised my eyebrows at him. “Was there something you needed from me, Mister Nova?”

He ran a hand over the scruff of his jaw. “Ya know, Liv. This Mister Nova shit is getting really fucking old.”

I wasn’t in the mood for his bullshit today and I could tell he was really planning on giving it to me. “Ya know, Mister Nova, this calling me into your office for no fucking reason is getting really old, too.”

He stood up and stalked around the desk toward me like a predator after its prey. “I hate it when you cuss.”

I pursed my lips. “I hate it when you boss me around.”

“I want to kiss the sass right out of you.”

I stood up and we were toe-to-toe. “Don’t you even think about it,” I breathed.

He grabbed me by my hips and swung me around until I was pinned between him and the desk. “Oh, I think about it all the time and who’s going to stop me?”

My eyes fluttered closed. Oh fuck, he was getting to me. The fever was back. Making me hot and bothered and wanton, but I wasn’t easy. “My knee.”

“Oh, come on.” His nose brushed the side of mine. “I just want a taste.”

The smell of sweet smoke invaded my senses, making me crazed and incredibly dumb because I whimpered. And that was all she wrote.

His hands went to the back of my head and gripped my hair tight, angling my head just how he liked, and he didn’t just press his lips to mine. No, this wasn’t one of Adam’s sweet, thoughtful kisses. He pillaged my mouth. The man kissed me like he was drowning and I was his only source of air.

He bit at my lips and pulled my hair, the sting, the sheer intensity of the moment causing me to groan. I was angry and hot and God, I wanted him. I wanted to forget today. I wanted to bury myself in his kisses and passion for just a few minutes. I wanted to forget the time that had separated us. I wanted to pretend we hadn’t been separated for years and miles. I wanted to remember when he was mine and I was his.

He slid his hand up the outside of my thigh, almost like he’d held my hand all those years ago, with such thought, agonizingly slow and right up under my skirt. My heart raced in my chest. It beat so loudly in my ears, it was all I could hear.

“What are you doing?” I whispered, desperate for him to continue, praying he stopped. This was the best worst idea in the history of ideas.

“What I’ve been wanting to do since I saw you in that little black dress at the Gala. The dress you wore to torture me,” he growled, dropping to a knee while he shrugged out of his suit jacket.

My face grew hot as he pushed my skirt up, trailing his fingers up the outside of my thighs, sliding his palms up the inside, like his hands were on a leisurely walk, instead of seducing the hell out of me.

“This is a bad idea,” I panted, clutching the edge of his desk in my hands as his fingers brushed the apex of my thighs. “You’re my boss. You’re my ex-boyfriend. I’m not even sure you like me.”

“On the contrary, this is the best idea I’ve had in years.” His head dipped, and the sting of teeth right at the top of my thigh was dangerously close to where I ached. “And I’m gonna show you how much I like you.”

Review: Filthy English by Ilsa Madden Mills

51BsmjNqkqL.jpg
The Cover: I really like how Filthy English’s cover is similar to Dirty English. Same background, same font style but the model is facing forward. I like how both match and go together.

Basics: Filthy English was released on July 9th 2016, published by Little Dove and is 258 pages long. Genre wise Filthy English belongs to contemporary romance, new adult and college romance.

Description: A smokin’ hot British player…A jilted girl…One night of mistaken identity…

Two weeks before her wedding, Remi Montague’s fiancé drops her faster than a drunken sorority girl in stilettos. Armed with her best friend and a bottle of tequila, she hops a plane to London to drown her sorrows before fall semester begins at Whitman University.

She didn’t plan on attending a masquerade party. She sure didn’t plan on waking up next to the British bad boy who broke her heart three years ago—the devastatingly handsome and naked Dax Blay. Furthermore, she has no clue how they acquired matching tattoos.

Once back at Whitman together, they endeavor to pretend they never had their night of unbridled passion in London. But that’s damn hard to do when you live in the same house…

One night. Two damaged hearts. The passion of a lifetime.
*A modern love story inspired by Romeo and Juliet*
Filthy English.jpg
Overall thoughts: As soon as I finished Dirty English I immediately grabbed Filthy English. Delcan was an amazing alpha hero but I was SUPER excited to read about his no good, trouble making twin Dax. Filthy English focuses on a modern Romeo and Juliet love story which I was a bit concerned with at first because the ending of that Shakespeare love story didn’t end so well, but I can promise you that the ending of ending of Filthy English is nothing like that! Phew!

Dax is the campus playboy, no really people dubbed him the sex lord he’s been around so much. He is the most outgoing, playful twin who is always getting into some sort of trouble. But deep down he knows he hasn’t found the one and while his brother recently found love and happiness, Dax is more lost than ever. Meanwhile Remi just got dumped several days before her wedding and instead of mopping about it decides to take her friend and on her planned honeymoon to England.

While out on the town, she meets and falls (literally) into a gorgeous stranger’s arms. Taken by his attractive looks and silly charismatic wit and smile, she kisses him wanting him to help her forget being dumped at the altar. However when they do, Remi realizes she’s kissing Dax, THEE DAX and is immediately reminded of their together before. They both know each other and she puts him on blast, wanting nothing to do with him. Confused but not wanting to give up on Remi; Dax sets out to figure out why she can’t stand him so much and in the meantime both of them start to fall for one another again. These two’s story is anything but a Shakespeare tragedy, it’s so much more.

I loved Filthy English and while I really also loved Dirty English, I definitely prefer Dax over Delcan. Plus I’m a Romeo and Juliet fan girl at heart so that helps too! I liked everything about this book, from start to finish it was a must read for me and I just loved this book! No negatives whatsoever. Dax and Remi are one of those couples that I don’t think I will get over anything soon and I think I am going to be obsessed and re-reading Dirty English and Filthy English for quite awhile!

Review: Dirty English by Ilsa Madden Mills

51BsmjNqkqL
The Cover:
I really like the cover of Dirty English because there is so much to look at. The model at the front, the British flag as the background and the text all go together very well. However I am a bit annoyed there aren’t really any scar marks on the model’s back and if he supposed to look like Declan, he doesn’t because Declan has scars on his back. I still really like this cover but details matter.

Basics: Dirty English was released on October 10th 2015, published by Little Dove and is 272 pages long. Genre wise Dirty English belongs to contemporary romance, new adult, college romance and standalone.

Description: A scarred fighter. A girl with rules. One night of unbridled passion.

There are three things you need to know about Elizabeth Bennett: she’s smart as a whip, always in control, and lives by a set of carefully crafted rules. She’s learned the hard way that people you love the most always hurt you in the end. But then she meets Declan Blay, the new neighbor at her apartment complex.

A tattooed British street fighter, he’s the campus bad boy she’s supposed to avoid, but when he saves her from a frat party gone bad, all her rules about sex and love fly out the window.

She gives him one night of unbridled passion, but he longs for more.  With only a cardboard-thin wall separating their bedrooms, he dreams of possessing the vulnerable girl next door forever. One night. Two damaged hearts. The passion of a lifetime.

*A modern love story inspired by Pride and Prejudice*

Overall thoughts: Oh. My. Gosh. Dear Ilsa Madden Mills where have you been my entire life?! How in the world did I miss this book?! I’ve been reading her latest releases I Bet You and I Dare You and when I finished with those I decided I want to look her up on my kindle and I saw that ALL her books are on Kindle Unlimited. I don’t know about you, but Kindle Unlimited is a godsend. You pay $10 a month to Amazon and you get your pick of ten free books that (as long as you have a Kindle Unlimited subscription) you get to keep the books on your kindle as long as you want!

ANYWAY back to Ilsa Madden Mills and her amazing books! I really enjoyed and was super impressed when I finished I Bet You and I Dare You books so I wanted to see what else she had. I picked Dirty English and I. am. COMPLETELY. blown. away. I LOVED Dirty English! I couldn’t put it down! A modern romance story based off Pride and Prejudice? BRILLIANT. One of my favorite parts of this book was going through it and seeing all the references to Pride and Prejudice, I swooned so many times!

Elizabeth Bennett is on a mission to succeed in school and in her life. She lives by a very strict set of rules and doesn’t believe in relationships, only in one night stands. Declan is the campus bad boy, a notorious fighter but has a heart of gold under his tough exterior. Both Elizabeth and Declan have painful pasts but when the two finally come together and meet for the first time, sparks fly. Both might hold what the other needs, but Elizabeth’s past and Declan’s stubbornness threat their budding relationship. Among other things.

Again, I am completely blown away by Dirty English! I LOVED Elizabeth and Declan, their chemistry is firecracker hot and I just adored how they fell for each other. I couldn’t put this book down from start to finish and I immediately got a hold of the next standalone in the series Filthy English featuring Declan’s twin brother, Dax.  Even though Dirty English came out a few years ago, it is one of the highlight reads of the year for me!

Review: The Lord of Stariel by A.J. Lancaster

header-dara-theme-multi-book-stack.jpg
The Cover: The Lord of Stariel has a whimsical and magical cover which I really adore because it matches the mood of the book and characters. It’s simple and bright, overall a great cover to look at or to put on your bookshelf.

Basics: The Lord of Stariel was released on November 1st 2018, is 318 pages long and is part of the Kindle Unlimited program. Genre wise The Lord of Stariel belongs to fantasy, young adult, fae world and romance.

DescriptionThe Lord of Stariel is dead. Long live the Lord of Stariel. Whoever that is.

Everyone knows who the magical estate will choose for its next ruler. Or do they?  Will it be the lord’s eldest son, who he despised?  His favourite nephew, with the strongest magical land-sense?  His scandalous daughter, who ran away from home years ago to study illusion?

Hetta knows it won’t be her, and she’s glad of it. Returning home for her father’s funeral, all Hetta has to do is survive the family drama and avoid entanglements with irritatingly attractive local men until the Choosing. Then she can leave.  But whoever Stariel chooses will have bigger problems than eccentric relatives to deal with.

Winged, beautifully deadly problems.  For the first time in centuries, the fae are returning to the Mortal Realm, and only the Lord of Stariel can keep the estate safe. In theory.  The Lord of Stariel is the first book in the Stariel series. If you like your fantasy mixed with romance, served with a side of mystery, and garnished with statistically improbable quantities of attractive people, you’ve come to the right place!

Overall thoughts:  The Lord of Stariel, A.J. Lancaster’s debut novel, I believe she went above and beyond my expectations. She paints a beautifully well done opening book to a series, with an engaging plot and kick butt characters that immediately grabbed my attention. As a fantasy book lover I was very impressed and I think any fantasy or fae book lover would really enjoy reading The Lord of Stariel.

Hetta is a great leading lady: strong, smart and has a great sense of humor. She is someone that every little girl would read about and look up to, but also aim to be like. The story was very interesting and honestly my own issue with the entire book was that it was a little slow in the beginning but overall very enjoyable.

Hetta has been gone from home for quite awhile and when the death of a family member happens, she comes home and everything changes. She embarks on quite a journey, surviving her distant family and the sudden arrival of fae to the mortal realm.

A.J. Lancaster should be very proud of her debut novel and I look whatever to her future works, especially the next book in this series!

Blog Tour & Excerpt: I Bet You by Ilsa Madden Mills

Wall Street Journal bestselling author Ilsa Madden-Mills returns with an all-new swoon-fest of a novel about what happens when you look beyond labels and take a chance on love. I Bet You, an all-new sexy college romance standalone is available NOW!
I-Bet-You-AmazonREAL FINAL (1)
Blurb: Sexy Athlete: I bet you…Penelope Graham: Burn in hell, quarterback.

The late night text is random but Penelope knows exactly who “Sexy Athlete” is. And why she shouldn’t take his wager. Ryker Voss. Football star. Walks on water and God’s gift to women. Just ask him.

His bet? He promises Penelope he’ll win her the heart of the nerdy guy she’s been crushing on. His plan—good old-fashioned jealousy. Once her crush sees her kissing Ryker, he’ll realize what he’s missing. Sounds legit, right? The only question is…why is Ryker being so nice to her?

Penelope Graham. Virgin. Lover of sparkly vampires and calculus. His mortal enemy. Penelope knows she shouldn’t trust a jock, but what’s a girl to do when she needs a date to Homecoming? And Ryker’s keeping a secret, another bet, one that could destroy Penelope’s heart forever. Will the quarterback score the good girl or will his secret mean everyone loses at this game of love?
I-BET-You-REALFINAL-3
Excerpt: Penelope: I stand in front of the mirror in the restroom and gasp. Holy moly, I’m a total disaster. Red is on my shirt, my neck, my cheek, and there’s even a dab in my hair. I let out a heavy sigh as I wipe at it with a wet paper towel. At least my hair is auburn and the red will just blend right in. I scrub at the stain on my shirt, but all I end up doing is making a giant wet spot.

“Forget it,” I mutter to myself a few minutes later as I straighten my lopsided messy bun and adjust my glasses. My makeup is faded, and I reach into my apron for a tube of cherry red lipstick then quickly swipe it over my mouth. Like that’s going to improve the situation. I need a makeover and new clothes stat.

I walk out of the restroom and take in Sugar’s Bar and Grill, a restaurant in Magnolia, Mississippi. The dinner rush is over, but a few stragglers will come in, mostly college students. Only a block from campus, Sugar’s has a modern farmhouse feel with galvanized steel light fixtures, pale pine floors, and straight-back metal chairs, but the food…well, that’s what keeps the place hopping. It’s the only restaurant near campus to get anything you want served up with a side of fresh fried green tomatoes. Their menu also features Southern classics, such as chicken and dumplings or macaroni and cheese with bacon sprinkled on top. Just thinking about it makes my stomach rumble. I was so wrapped up in writing during my break that I forgot to eat.

I sigh and head to the football table, where they promptly hand over the money. “Nice doing business with you, boys,” I say before flouncing off, feeling Ryker’s eyes on me the entire time.

What’s his deal with me? I mean, you’d think he’d want to avoid me because of the article, but it’s as if his mission is to be around me as much as he can. In fact, I’m not even sure he knew who I was before I wrote it since we don’t run in the same circles. I suspect he’s torturing me.

I push him out of my head and walk over to a table that needs bussing, picking up half-empty soda glasses and putting them on my tray. The door chimes, signaling that someone has come in, and I raise my head to see—

Whoa. I freeze. Bring out the angels and cue the hallelujah chorus. Now that’s the kind of man I should be writing sexy scenes about.

Standing at the door is Connor Dimpleshitz—yes, his surname is unfortunate, but his IQ makes up for it. I’ve been crushing on him since our sociology class last semester.

Framed by a golden halo of sunlight as it glints through the windows, I decide he’s what would happen if Albert Einstein and Henry Cavill had a baby. “A hot genius. The perfect unicorn,” I murmur to myself.

I chew on my lip, debating on whether to mosey up to him and say hi or hide. Hide wins. I know, I’m a little ridiculous, especially since we have calculus together this semester and he’ll obviously see me at some point in class.  But then I’ll have good hair and ketchup-free clothes.

I quickly survey the possibilities for my escape as the hostess seats him in another server’s section. My eyes land on the right side of the restaurant, where I could make a mad dash for the kitchen, but he’s bound to see me darting since I’d have to walk past him. Plus, I want to hang around and watch him without him knowing.

I come to a decision. Wrangling the tray of half-empty sodas I cleared, I quickstep it over to the back left corner, the farthest away from the double doors of the entrance. I maneuver my body into an awkward hunkering position behind a huge potted plant with wide fan-shaped leaves. At least five feet tall with a gnarly brown trunk, the green monster is perfect camouflage.

I peek around a big leaf that’s in dire need of a good dusting, judging by the motes floating around. Feeling paranoid that someone is a witness to my absurdity, I throw a quick glance over my shoulder to make sure no one’s around.

Ryker. Shit. He’s staring at me from the football table, and there’s a glint in his gaze, as if he’s wondering what I’m doing.  I scowl and stick my tongue out at him. He makes me feel so rebellious and flustered and…excited. I can’t even stop myself. Ugh. His expression deepens in amusement, and I grimace, realizing my butt is sticking out. His annoying eyebrow jacks up and says, What the hell are you doing?

With eye telepathy I tell him to mind his own freaking business. I pointedly turn my back on him and focus on The Unicorn.

A few seconds later, a familiar deep voice resonates from behind me, making me start. “You look a little flustered, Penelope. Spying on someone for your next story, perhaps?”

I freeze. Blink. His voice is husky and lower than before when he was calling me garçon, the tone reminding me of languid summer nights under a starry Southern sky while he gives me deep, passionate kisses—

Good Lord.Stop your daydreaming.Must. Stop. Reading. Romances. I heave out a sigh and turn around to face Ryker.  What the hell does he want now?

Review: Dark Harmony by Laura Thalassa

35223072
The Cover: I love Dark Harmony‘s cover, I think it fits in well with the other covers and embodies the book perfectly. I really have loved all of these covers because they are different because usually there are cover models on book covers but The Bargainer series book covers are really something special and different.

Basics: Dark Harmony was released on October 28th 2018, published by Lavabrook Publishing Group and is 369 pages long. It is the third book in the Bargainer series and is part of the Kindle Unlimited program. Genre wise Dark Harmony belongs to paranormal romance, fantasy, new adult and romance.

Description: There are worse things than death. Things that lurk in the shadows and slip into your dreams. Things that have no business existing. Things that once slept … but have now awoken.

For Callypso Lillis, the fae magic that now runs through her veins is equal parts curse and good fortune. For the very thing that bonds her to Desmond Flynn, the King of the Night, also makes her vulnerable to the Thief of Souls, a man who wants to break the world … and Callie along with it.

But it’s not just the Thief whose shadow looms over the Otherworld. Des’s father is back from the dead, and he wants revenge on the son who sent him to the grave in the first place.

Des and Callie must figure out how to stop both men, and time is running out. Because there are forces at play working to tear the lovers apart once and for all … and unfortunately for them, death is no longer the worst thing to fear.

Overall thoughts: What a wonderful ending to The Bargainer series Dark Harmony was! I loved this book and on the edge of my seat the entire time!  Dark Harmony worked through all the questions I had while reading Rhapsodic and A Strange Hymn. While other series usually have a decent first book, an excellent middle book and a little of a let down for the third book, but Dark Harmony along with the entire Bargainer series is not your typical trilogy.

Rhapsodic opened up with Callie and Desmond’s relationship completely broken but brought them together because Des needed help. As they grew closer together once more, he brought her into the fae world trying to figure out what was going on with subjects. No spoilers, but what happens Rhapsodic completely tangles Callie in Desmond’s world. A Strange Hymn raises further eyebrows with more questions but no answers and Dark Harmony answers all the questions from the past two books and them some.

I literally have no issues with this book, at all; it was the perfect end to a great series and honestly if anything I wish there were more books because I love Callie and Desmond so much. Their bond and relationship is super special because of their past history, all the struggles they endured through this series and I just loved reading their love story. Not to mention the fact that Desmond freaking Flynn is HOT. That man is literally the definition of sin and them some. So, so hot!

I am so bummed out that The Bargainer series is over but I am so glad I found this series and Laura Thalassa should be so proud because this book is truly a masterpiece. Till darkness dies Dark Harmony, till darkness dies.
