Release Blitz: All My Life by Prescott Lane

All My Life, an all-new standalone contemporary romance by Prescott Lane is now LIVE!
All My Life_Amazon_KOBO_iBooks.jpg
Blurb: The beginning of any love story starts with the meet.

I’ve known Garrett Hollis since before I can remember, and I’ve loved him just as long.  I loved him while he loved someone else. I loved him when he had a baby with her. I loved him when she left him. The greatest of love stories is that between a dad and his daughter.  I should know. I’ve had a front row seat. First steps, first words, all the big moments.

Garrett was just a teenager when Mia was born.  I’ve watched him braid his daughter’s hair, hold her hand crossing the street, seen her asleep on his chest.  I’m the best friend, the one they can count on for everything from dance lessons to motherly advice, anything they need.  I’m their go-to girl.

The best part of any love story is the happily ever after. But what if the happily ever after doesn’t include you? All my life, that’s how long I’ve loved him. Of course, he’s clueless. A stand-alone, contemporary romance.

Release Blitz, Excerpt & Review: Cards of Love: The Moon by Sierra Simone

41819392.jpg
The Cover: I. LOVE. THIS. COVER. Oh my gosh! The coloring of it, the lines and style..it just screams tarot and it is very sensual and beautiful. It fits Nimue and Merlin perfectly, I love it and I need it on my bookshelf ASAP.

Basics: Cards of Love: The Moon was released on October 5th 2018 and is 100 pages long. It is a novella that ties in with The New Camelot series. Genre wise The Moon belongs to novella and contemporary romance.

Description: She’s angry that I left.  I’m angry that I died.  It’s the trouble with our two lives: we don’t only have one past to work through, but two.  Double the pain, twice the betrayal.  A million times the tragedy.

***The Moon is the story of Merlin and Nimue from the New Camelot trilogy.  It’s recommended that you read the trilogy first, as there are American King spoilers in The Moon.***

(Cards of Love is a massive multi-author project, a series of love letters to the mysterious and inspirational world of tarot cards.  These can be read in any order, as the only thing the Cards of Love books share is their common inspiration from the world of tarot.)
The Moon Teaser 2.jpg
Overall thoughts: I love and adore Sierra Simone; she is one my favorite authors ever but I did not enjoy The Moon. Let me explain, it wasn’t because of the story or characters it was honestly because I had this idea of Merlin in my head and clearly Sierra has her version and they just didn’t add up. First of all, The Moon is a companion novella to The New Camelot series, so I would definitely recommend reading the trilogy first before reading The Moon. My main issue with this novella was just the fact that I viewed Merlin to be something he isn’t and I just didn’t enjoy it as usual because again, my idea of Merlin was completely different from Sierra’s. Which is my issue. As readers you aren’t always going to like how a character is portrayed and this was one of those times.

Besides that, The Moon was beautifully written. I love a well written point of view from the male perspective and Sierra delivered that and more. Merlin and Nimue’s story is beautifully tragic with an attraction that is so static you feel it in your bones as you are reading. That is definitely a gift of Sierra’s, she writes in a way that makes you feel so connected to her characters that you feel everything they are feeling. Overall The Moon was a great addition to the New Camelot series and great novella, if you are a fan of The New Camelot series or Simone’s work in general I highly suggest you read it.

Excerpt: A hiss in the darkness, then a flame, bright and dancing and unwelcome.

A match, I think, and then I think, whyAnd then: where am I?

“You’re awake,” says a voice like water.  A voice I love.  It still doesn’t help me figure out where I am.

 “Am I?” I ask.  “Awake?”

Like I said earlier, I don’t dream as such, but when I close my eyes, the memories and visions are there, dogging my sleep.  And I think maybe—yes, there is also a memory like this.  A memory of a dark-haired girl and a cave sparkling with light, the night air heavy with the ecstatic cries we fed it.

“You are awake, Merlin.”  The flame moves, calves another flame, and then is blown out.  A candle now glows softly against the face of a woman standing at the end of the bed I’m on.

Dark brows arch high over clear blue eyes and a long nose curves gracefully down the woman’s oval face, framed by a high forehead and cheekbones, and a beautiful, if narrow, jaw.  Her lips are on the thin side, but perfectly sculpted, giving her an expressive, fascinating mouth.  Coffee-dark hair hangs in glossy sheets around her face and down her back.

She’s haunting.  Haunting even as a girl, but now even more so as a woman.

“Nimue,” I say, and for the first time I notice how thirsty I am.  I make to sit up—and realize my hands are tied to the bed. Nimue sets the candle down on an end table, and it illuminates the space enough to show me that I’m indeed in a room and not in the damp mouth of a cave. It means it’s now and not then, which I suppose I should be grateful for.

After all, I died then. A silver key glints from just below the smile of her clavicle, the bottom tip of it pointing to the sweet valley between her breasts I used to know so well.  They are small and pert—her body still the lithe dancer’s body she had as a girl—and my flesh responds to the sight of those little handfuls, the memory of them.  The fantasy of her dusky nipples dragging along the underside of my aching cock is enough to have my body warming, and that’s when I really become aware that I’m not only tied to the bed, but I’m also dressed in a pair of black boxer briefs and nothing else.

Well, nothing else except for the padded cuff around my ankle. Nimue leans forward to untie my wrist, which leaves the front of her swishy dress gaping forward enough that I can see those nipples now, dark rose and erect.

I’d tasted them frequently once upon a time. Once upon a time, twice. In another life, I’d known the feel of her breasts against my lips and tongue better than I’d known almost anything else.

With one of my wrists freed, Nimue straightens and nods at the other.  “You can untie yourself.  You’ll find that the chain allows you more than enough length to do everything you need.  I’m obviously trusting you not to do anything self-destructive, but should the need arise, I can take away this particular freedom.”  She says it cheerfully, almost as if the idea of taking away my freedom delights her.

The key on her chest glints as she steps back, and I understand that it’s the key that unlocks my cuff—the same cuff that is connected to a ring in the floor by a length of slender chain.

Anger comes. And with it shame. And with that, fear. I died once this way, and I’d rather not do it again. I lunge for my other wrist to untie it, needing to be free, needing to reach for Nimue to kiss her or kill her—but by the time I untie myself, she’s out the door with it shut and locked behind her.

Book Blogger Hop: It’s getting close to Halloween. If you HAD to read one of these two genres, which would you prefer — urban fantasy, or horror, and why?

Halloween Edition book blogger hop.png
The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, I relaunched the meme on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end on Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog. October 5th – 11th – It’s getting close to Halloween. If you HAD to read one of these two genres, which would you prefer — urban fantasy, or horror, and why? (submitted by Maria @ A Night’s Dream of Books)

divider 3

Oh my goodness! As I’ve stated before in a previous book blogger hop post I am NOT into horror, AT ALL. It stresses me out and gives me anxiety so I will definitely not be choosing horror if I had to choose a genre I had to read forever! One of my favorite genres to read is fantasy so I think reading urban fantasy would even be more fun to read about.

I actually googled the description of urban fantasy and this is what Google came up with: Urban fantasy is a sub genre of fantasy in which the narrative has an urban setting. … A contemporary setting is not strictly necessary for a work of urban fantasy: works of the genre may also take place in futuristic and historical settings, actual or imagined. (via Wikipedia.)

I think from just reading that description that reading urban fantasy over horror would be an absolute for me because picking urban fantasy gives me more options. I feel like horror is just one genre you really can’t add or stray from, whereas urban fantasy could branch off into so many other things and scenarios when it comes to books and reading so I definitely would pick urban fantasy.

What would you choose if you could choose one one of these genres: horror or urban fantasy?

Synopsis: Everyone calls me Lucky, but when it comes to love, I’m anything but.
I have a long history of dating the wrong men. You know the ones I’m talking about.
The beautiful, charming guys who are quite literally too good to be true.

The ones who are impulsive in love and prefer short flings over long-term relationships.

I’m talking about the jerks. The guys who taste so good, but are so very bad. After going through the most ridiculous breakup in the history of breakups, I thought I’d learned my lesson. I officially put myself into jerk rehab and committed to changing my ways.

But, let’s be real here, love is never that easy. Especially when an arrogant, charming, he-devil of a sexy alpha man gets involved. Aussie accent. Tanned skin. Muscular, surfer bod. Gorgeous brown eyes. And the kind of sexy smile that brings women to their knees.

Oh, did I mention that he’s also my best friend’s brother? Yeah. This story, my story, it’s a real doozy you guys. The day I stopped falling for jerks, I met Oliver Arsen—the biggest jerk of all.

My affection tends to be short-lived—a quality I’ve been assured multiple times by the fairer sex isn’t becoming—and the leaving part of loving and leaving has always come natural.

At least, it used to. Until her. Luciana Wright. She’s an American bombshell and my sister’s best friend—a woman so wrong for me, it’s written in the waves. And she’s the reason we’re all here. The reason I have to go back to explain how it all went wrong.

Cover Reveal: Long Road Home by Stacey Lynn

Check out the Cover Reveal & Blurb below for Long Road Home by Stacey Lynn available on November 5th, 2018! 1538326378550_LRH Cover.jpg
Blurb:
I left home ten years ago, promising myself I’d never return to the place where I had never been accepted. I was despised and ridiculed for circumstances completely beyond my control.
But when my grandmother passes away, I’m forced to return to Kansas. I will have to face everyone who hated me. But they’re not who I’m most afraid of.
My biggest fear? Facing him.  Jordan Marx.  The boy I once loved more than life itself. The boy who defended me from them. The boy I’d disappeared on, leaving him nothing more than a horrible nasty lie and hastily scribbled note. When Jordan finds out the secret I have carried for so long, I’m in for the battle of my life. Or so I thought.

I might have wandered for years on a path riddled with thorns but with Jordan by my side, taking the long road home means more than reuniting with the only man I’ve ever loved. It might just mean finding myself, and the family I never thought I could ever have along the way.

book blogger meme

Waiting on Wednesday!

Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that everyone’s excited about! This week I am waiting for…..
divider 3

The first book I am waiting for is Royally Yours by Emma Chase! Out October 30th 2018.
1.jpg
Blurb: Princess Lenora Celeste Beatrice Arabella Pembrook had an unusual childhood. She was raised to be a Queen—the first Queen of Wessco. It’s a big deal.
When she’s crowned at just nineteen, the beautiful young monarch is prepared to rule. She’s charming, clever, confident and cunning. What she isn’t… is married.

It’s her advising council’s first priority. It’s what Parliament is demanding, and what her people want. Lenora has no desire to tie herself to a man—particularly one who only wants her for her crown. But compromises must be made and royals must do their duty.

Even Queens. Especially them. Years ago, Edward Langdon Richard Dorian Rourke, walked away from his title and country. Now he’s an adventurer—climbing mountains, exploring jungles, going wherever he wants, when he wants—until family devotion brings him home.

And a sacred promise keeps him there. To Edward, the haughty, guarded little Queen is intriguing, infuriating…and utterly captivating. Wanting her just might drive him mad—or become his greatest adventure.

Within the cold, stone walls of the royal palace—mistrust threatens, wills clash, and an undeniable, passionate love will change the future of the monarchy forever. Every dynasty has a beginning. Every legend starts with a story. This is theirs.

Pre-order ⟵

Why I’m excited: I really love the Royally series and I’m really excited for Royally Yours because it’s set in a different time with new characters. I really enjoy boys that are in the same universe as other books but has a different plot with new characters we haven’t read about. It’s familiar but contemporary.

The Necromancer’s Bride by Brianna Hale, out October 20th 2018.DocW0u9W0AA2qFm.jpgBlurb: When I was a child he brought me back from the brink of death. Since that day I have borne his mark, a black star in the center of my left palm. The villagers say it brands me as evil. I think it means something far worse. It marks me as his.

The disease that nearly killed me has returned to the village and children are dying. I’m the only one who dares to climb the mountain and learn his secrets. In exchange I’m to clean his house and help with his strange experiments, but Meremon wants more. He wants me. And it isn’t long before I discover that his demands are as twisted as his experiments. Warning: This story is a dark fantasy romance with scenes of non-consent and dubious consent. Additionally, Meremon is a necromancer and enjoys unusual things. Some sex scenes might be strange or creepy for some readers.

As always with Brianna Hale books, no cheating, and a guaranteed happily ever after. THE NECROMANCER’S BRIDE is a novella of 16,000 words.

Pre-order ⟵

Why I’m excited: I’ve been following Brianna Hale for awhile now and I am kicking myself I haven’t read any books of hers yet! But I’m super excited for The Necromancer’s Bride because I feel like it’s perfect for October and the Halloween season; but also because I enjoy reading darker romances and the blurb really got me interested!

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black out January 8th 2019
26032887.jpg
Blurb: You must be strong enough to strike and strike and strike again without tiring.
The first lesson is to make yourself strong.

After the jaw-dropping revelation that Oak is the heir to Faerie, Jude must keep her younger brother safe. To do so, she has bound the wicked king, Cardan, to her, and made herself the power behind the throne. Navigating the constantly shifting political alliances of Faerie would be difficult enough if Cardan were easy to control. But he does everything in his power to humiliate and undermine her even as his fascination with her remains undiminished.

When it becomes all too clear that someone close to Jude means to betray her, threatening her own life and the lives of everyone she loves, Jude must uncover the traitor and fight her own complicated feelings for Cardan to maintain control as a mortal in a Faerie world.

Pre-order ⟵

Why I’m excited: I just finished re-reading The Cruel Prince by Holly Black (if you’re interested check out my review here⟵) for review and I liked it a lot more than the first time I read it. Although it really didn’t end on a cliff hanger I do have some questions and I’m really curious to see how everything that happened in The Cruel Prince play out in The Wicked King. We have a long time to wait for it though, January is three months away!

divider 3

Those are my picks for Waiting On Wednesday! Do you have some books you’re waiting for? I am so impatient so it’s hard for me to wait on things, ESPECIALLY books. One of the reasons I love the romance genre book world so much is because the waiting isn’t bad, usually only a few months which isn’t bad at all. Compared to the Young Adult which usually takes a year or more. Anyway please let me know what your Waiting On Wednesday picks are!

About the Author:
Rachel Blaufeld is a bestselling author of Romantic Suspense, New Adult, Coming-of-Age Romance, and Sports Romance. A recent poll of her readers described her as insightful, generous, articulate, and spunky. Originally a social worker, Rachel creates broken yet redeeming characters. She’s been known to turn up the angst like cranking up the heat in the dead of winter.

A devout coffee drinker and doughnut eater, Rachel spends way too many hours in local coffee shops, downing the aforementioned goodies while she plots her ideas. Her tales may all come with a side of angst and naughtiness, but end as lusciously as her treats.

As a side note, Blaufeld, also a long-time blogger and an advocate of woman-run anything, is fearless about sharing her opinion. She captured the ears of stay-at-home and working moms on her blog, BacknGrooveMom, chronicling her adventures in parenting tweens and running a business, often at the same time. To her, work/life/family balance is an urban legend, but she does her best.

Rachel has also blogged for The Huffington Post and Modern Mom. Most recently, her insights can be found in USA TODAY, where she shares conversations at “In Bed with a Romance Author” and reading recommendations over at “Happy Ever After.”

Rachel lives around the corner from her childhood home in Pennsylvania with her family and two beagles. Her obsessions include running, coffee, basketball, icing-filled doughnuts, antiheroes, and mighty fine epilogues.

Review: The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

26032825.jpg
The Cover: The Cruel Prince’s cover is beautiful but besides the crown (and I guess the thorns?) I don’t think there is anything special about this cover. It’s pretty and simple but that’s it.

Basics: The Cruel Prince was released on January 2nd, 2018, published by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers and is 385 pages long. Genre wise The Cruel Prince belongs to Fantasy, Young Adult and Romance.

Description: Of course I want to be like them. They’re beautiful as blades forged in some divine fire. They will live forever. And Cardan is even more beautiful than the rest. I hate him more than all the others. I hate him so much that sometimes when I look at him, I can hardly breathe.

Jude was seven when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong there, despite her mortality. But many of the fey despise humans. Especially Prince Cardan, the youngest and wickedest son of the High King.

To win a place at the Court, she must defy him–and face the consequences.

As Jude becomes more deeply embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, she discovers her own capacity for trickery and bloodshed. But as betrayal threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself.

Overall thoughts: So this is my second time reading The Cruel Prince by Holly Black. I had heard about the book in early January 2018 and right as I was about purchase a copy, I received The Cruel Prince from my January 2018 Owlcrate subscription! I was so excited because it was like the universe was on my side and leading me to a new great book! Or so I thought.

I hated The Cruel Prince the first time I read it, severely. Nine months later, I wanted to give it another try. Here are some of the reasons I had issues with The Cruel Prince in the first place: One, the whole trope where the leading male bullies and is mean to the heroine but somehow they fall for each other drives me up the WALL. Bullying is a very, very sore subject for me because I was bullied throughout High School and experienced it first hand. So I’m sure that you can understand why I think it is absolutely ridiculous that Cardan bullied Jude horribly and in awful ways and halfway through the book he is apparently in love with her. It would make sense if Cardan and Jude were under the age of ten, but they are not and I just find their whole relationship is ridiculous and super unrealistic.

My other issue I struggled with was the pace of the book and how the book ended. A few chapters in everything was at a slow pace, in the middle things picked up and while reading the end of the book everything happened so fast I thought my head was spinning! It actually reminded me of when Oprah used to hand out gifts, “You get a car! And you get a card!” but for The Cruel Prince it was like “and you find out this piece of information! With this big plot twist! And add another plot twist!” My head was literally spinning with information, information overload basically. Those issues aside, the second time reading it I found that I liked The Cruel Prince a lot better.

The story is very compelling and whimsical, with enough twists and turns of the plot to keep you interested. You might need to make a list of everything going on to tie everything together at the end but it’s still good nonetheless. I still don’t really like or understand Cardan and Jude’s relationship but maybe that could change in the next book when it comes out in January 2019. Overall I think I’m just too picky sometimes when it comes to books and with The Cruel Prince I have learned that each book deserves a second chance.

Review: Lucky by Carina Adams

carina
The Cover: I love this cover! The color, the font and the model are work really well together. The cover model is exactly what I imagine when I think of Lucky and I really, really love it. Definitely one of my favorite sports romance covers.

Basics: Lucky is 340 pages long and was released on February 28th 2017. It is also available on Kindle Unlimited! Genre wise Lucky belongs to sports romance, age gap romance, forbidden romance and contemporary romance.

Description: Everyone loves Lucky # 7. He’s the whole package – smart, athletic, and sexy as sin. A filthy talking bad boy, he can have any woman he wants. Except me.

A chance encounter. One unforgettable night. That’s all we could ever have. At least, that’s what we tell ourselves. Fate has other plans. If anyone found out, I would lose my job. He could lose his scholarship.

Some things are worth the risk. Sometimes, you have to cross your fingers, Roll the dice, and hope lady luck is on your side.

Overall thoughts: It’s funny how easily I can fall in love with a book, but for Lucky it took me about five seconds to fall deep and hard. Carina Adams writing is gorgeous and her characters are laugh out loud funny but have a depth to them that anyone can easily relate to. I loved Lucky‘s plot; personally age doesn’t matter to me (as long as it’s not against the law of course!) and it was refreshing to read about a couple that has some significant differences from one another, but still feel in love. Fiercely I might add. I also enjoyed the side characters, such as Sunshine’s friend Max and especially Josh and Loretta. I wouldn’t might reading about those two either to be honest! I can’t wait till Lucky comes out in book form because I will be immediately buying it and putting it on my bookshelves with much love and pride. Lucky will easily be one of my favorite reads of 2017, hands down. (Original review!)

I do not like football, at all. But I read the blurb for Lucky in 2017 and wanted to give it a try and I am SO glad I did Lucky was one of my favorite books of 2017! Carina Adams is severely talented and is one of those romance authors that you NEED to read! Lucien, AKA Lucky is seriously one of the best book boyfriends I have EVER read about and it’s been a year and I am still obsessed with him! Lucky is a great sports romance to read about especially if you like football romances and a great age gap/forbidden romance as well!

About the Author: Carina Adams has been writing and creating characters for as long as she can remember, allowing her to fall in love with the next man of her dreams with every new story.

Thankfully, fate stepped in and granted her the ultimate wish – a life full of men. Carina lives in a picturesque New England town with her husband, the man who ruined the thought of all others, and two amazing sons who always keep her on her toes.
Carina received her MBA in May, but would much rather play with her imaginary friends (the voices in her head) than work her 8 to 5. When she isn’t trying to juggle being a working mom with karate and football practices, surprising her children with her sci-fi movie knowledge, or writing, you can find her with her nose pressed against her kindle, laughing with friends, or living life vicariously as her Derby Girl persona, Writers Block.
Carina is the author the of Bastards MC series and best selling Forever Red. She is currently writing Out of The Blue, the follow up to Forever Red. She loves to hear feedback from her readers, no matter what type. You can email her at: carinaadamswrites@gmail.com
