“I’m totally overdressed.”

“No, you look…” I shake my head, at a loss for words. Which is stupid. It’s just Josh.

It’s. Just. Josh.

“I look what? Bad?” He’s frowning, staring down at his chest, running his fingers over the shirt buttons.

“You definitely don’t look bad.” My voice is firm. My thoughts are going haywire. I think about the pact we made, how crazy I thought he was for bringing it up.

But hey. Maybe there’s something to this “let’s lose our virginity to each other” deal.

Nah. That’s crazy talk.

He lifts his head, his gaze meeting mine. “So I look…good?”

“You look great.” Understatement. He looks hot like fire. But I can’t tell him that. “You need a haircut.” I say this to break the tension, because there is so much freaking tension right now. Am I the only one who’s experiencing it? Or does he feel it, too?

“Yeah. I know I do.” He runs a hand through his hair, messing it up so it’s a riotous mass on top of his head. My gaze lingers, and I’m tempted to run my fingers through his thick hair and straighten it out.

Oh. My. God. Stop thinking like this!

“Go try on something else,” I tell him, waving my hands and shooing him away. He needs to go. Get behind that curtain and hide for a few minutes so I can gather my thoughts. “Try on one of the flannel shirts and the jeans.”

“Okay.” He sends me a questioning look before he slips back into the dressing room.

I breathe out a sigh of relief, my shoulders slumping. What just happened? I don’t like feeling this way toward Josh. Thinking he’s hot, being attracted to him. It makes me…uncomfortable?

Well, it should make me uncomfortable.

“Your boyfriend is cute.”

Glancing over my shoulder, I watch the sales associate who greeted us when we first walked into the store approach. She’s super cute with a bohemian vibe. Long wavy golden hair almost to her butt, a black choker around her neck, she’s wearing a flower print, flowing dress that swirls around her ankles when she walks.

“He’s not my boyfriend,” I tell her.

Her eyebrows go up. “You could’ve fooled me.”

I’m scowling. “What do you mean?”

“You two looked totally into each other.”

“Yeah.” I laugh, but it feels forced. “No. We’re just friends.”

“Uh huh.” The knowing smile she sends my way tells me she doesn’t believe a word I’m saying. Whatever. “Let me know if you need any new sizes or whatever, okay?”

The Cover: I adore this cover! I think it’s visual pleasing to the eye and very sexy! I like how the baseball bat was added but I feel like it needed more baseball added to the cover because the sport is a important part of the story! A-

Basics: Third Base was released on November 2nd, 2017, published by GFY Publishing and is 335 pages long. Genre wise Third Base belongs to sports romance, childhood romance and contemporary romance. 

Description: First base: kissing.
Second base: above the waist.
Third base: below the waist.
Home run: no explanation needed.

Every baseball player knows to keep their eye on the ball and swing for the fences. Each base counts, but a home run is the goal. No one wants to strike out. This is true both on and off the field.

Ellie had been my best friend since we were born, and we had a plan—get out of the tiny Alabama town we’d grown up in and go to college…together. But even life’s best-laid plans could throw a powerful curveball. Rather than attend classes, I was now the starting pitcher for a Major League team.

While my game-day stats were impressive, my record with women was less desirable. I was the professional baseball player who hadn’t been able to make it past third base since the one and only night I’d played hardball with my best friend. 

When the bottom of the ninth came to a close on my career, I had to decide if our friendship was worth more than a few extra innings.

Overall thoughts: FINALLY! A baseball romance! I loved the romance book world but when it comes to sports romance I thought they all revolved around football! I absolutely adored this story; there is nothing better than reading about two people growing up together and falling in love, along with dealing with a few bumps along the way. I thought the writing and story was very relatable and honest and I enjoyed Ellie and Coby’s relationship very much. 

If you are looking for a sweet childhood, baseball sporty type romance with some fun humor along the way, Third Base is for you! Harper and Walls make a great team and I will definitely be looking forward to their future works together.

The Cover: I never say this about covers but I really and I mean REALLY do not like this cover. Personally I don’t think it represents Ash at all and I wish really wish they would of given his character justice because he is KING and this cover is just horrible. But you know the saying ‘don’t judge a book by it’s cover’? That saying presents American King folks, hold onto your seats because this review is gonna get a bit crazy! 

Basics: American King was released on October 31st, 2017 and is 456 pages long. Genre wise American King belongs to contemporary, contemporary romance, angst and drama.

Overall thoughts: I can’t believe the New Camelot series is over. I started American Queen last November and fell so in love with Sierra Simone’s beautiful writing, great characters and crazy off the wall, hair pulling, toe curling plot. I just can’t believe it’s over. We started with a Queen, learned more about a Prince and the story ended with the King. Where do I even begin? To be honest with you I thought this series was going to end horribly and ruin my life, no I’m serious. Dead serious.I haven’t been obsessed or more heartsick over a series like this since Harry freaking Potter. Greer, Embry and Ash will hold a piece of my heart for my entire life…that is how much I love this series. So let’s dive in this stunning conclusion! Warning: spoilers ahead!

With the way American Prince ended,(you can read my review here<–) I had the worst feeling ever. Everyone was torn apart: Ash found out he had a secret son with his SISTER, Embry left Ash and Greer so he can run against Ash for the Presidency, Abilene was supposedly pregnant with Embry’s child and our trio relationship seemed to be in ruins.  So how the heck was ANYTHING supposed to be fixed or worked out? I don’t know how but Sierra Simone wrapped up things quite nicely and even added a little bow!

Things were strained for several years between our Queen, Prince and King but they all worked out! I guess you could say the main thing about the trio’s relationship was that they persisted. Abilene married Embry and had his child, even so the love between Ash, Greer and Embry was strong. You would think that would be the main issue between all of them, but that wasn’t the case; it was the whole Ash vs Embry presidency that caused the main problems. Embry left Ash because he thought he failed protecting Greer so he decided to run against him, little did he know that our King had a plan to take down Melwas all along. All Embry had to do was be patience, but of course our little prince is anything but. 

There were three shocking revelations in American King, one the first one that involved Abilene. Her suicide bothered me more than I thought it would. When Sierra Simone mentioned writing a chapter from Abilene’s point of view in her group on Facebook, I was annoyed. Why did we need a chapter from the evil red haired demon that caused so many problems throughout this entire series? Why Sierra?! Haven’t you tortured us enough?! I’m kidding! Kind of. But yes, I felt sad and I felt sorry for Abilene because haven’t all of us cared for someone who didn’t feel the same way? We weren’t manic or crazy about it I’m sure but still, I felt bad for her. 

The second shocking thing about American King was Merlin! I seriously thought he would end up being the bad guy but nope! Merlin was team Queen-Prince-King all along!

And the craziest, shocking, out of left field part about American King? Greer, Ash and Embry are reincarnations of Queen Genevieve, King Arthur and Knight Lancelot. The biggest kicker of them all though? Merlin IS Merlin AND this entire thing has happened before and he’s SEEN it. Greer, Ash and Embry loved each other in another life and came back again to love each other once. Mind. Blown. I saw hints of Merlin actually having magical powers in American Prince and some hints in American Queen but the fact that Sierra actually went through with this in a contemporary romance book and officially making it a fantasy love story? She is seriously the best. 

I loved this story and these characters that made my toes curl and made me cry for hours on end. So much. I’m going to miss the crazy twists and turns that turned my world upside down! I HIGHLY recommend this series and can guarantee that you won’t regret it! Thank you Sierra Simone for writing such an amazing, crazy, life ruining story because I will cherish it forever. Long live the King, Queen and Prince!
