Release Blitz & Review: The Evolution Of Man by Skye Warren

TheEvolutionOfMan-1600x2400
The Cover: I think the cover for The Evolution of Man is elegant and is spot on for what the book is. However since the cover for Survival of the Richest focused on Harper it would’ve been nice if the second cover for the duet focused on the men. It does in a way but not the way I imagined it to be? It’s still pretty though!

Basics: The Evolution of Man was released on September 24th 2018 and is 260 pages long.  Genre wise The Evolution of Man belongs to contemporary romance, new adult and love triangle.

Description:  I never wanted to fall for man. And definitely not two men.

They tear me apart until I don’t know how I’ll ever be whole again. Until I’m not sure I want to be. How can I choose between two halves of myself?
Evolution of Man.jpg
Overall thoughts: I want to start off by saying I love and adore Skye Warren. I think she is one of the best and move creative romance writers out there; however that being said…I did not like The Evolution of Man and I am so bummed out about it! The first part of the book I was really into and couldn’t put down, but then something just happened and things changed.

I just didn’t like how the story went honestly! I thought it was rushed and a bit messy in places. The characters were great, their chemistry was on point but just the way the story was going….I was honestly sitting here reading it and I just felt so confused! I really don’t know how to explain it! Maybe it was because Survival of the Richest was 354 pages long and The Evolution of Man was only 260 pages long? I don’t know but I finished the book and just felt SO disappointed and confused! Plus the ending was rushed and really didn’t explain everything. I know that there will be a bonus epilogue Skye said she plans on releasing so maybe that will clear things up?

I didn’t like The Evolution of Man, it had great qualities but overall it was just disappointing to me. THAT BEING SAID, I love Skye Warren and will continue to read and review her books. I also think you should still grab The Trust Fund duet because just because I didn’t like it, doesn’t me that you won’t! And I loved Survival of the Richest! I just didn’t like the second one in this duet, but again I still think you should read it!

Release Blitz & Review: A Nordic King by Karina Halle

A Nordic King AMAZON (1).jpg
The Cover: I love this cover. The male model is EXACTLY how I picture Aksel to look like and the model’s eyes definitely giving you a king/royal vibe. I want this book on my bookshelf ASAP.

Basics: A Nordic King was released on September 21st 2018, is 376 pages long and is part of the Kindle Unlimited program. Genre wise A Nordic King belongs to romance, contemporary romance, new adult and royal romance.

Description: When I first applied for the job I thought it would be like all the others: working as a nanny for an aristocratic family.

Then I got the job and found out how wrong I was. Now I’m the new nanny for two adorable little girls who happen to be princesses. Their father is the widowed King of Denmark. And my new home? The royal palace in Copenhagen.

Adjusting to my new life isn’t easy but the hardest part hasn’t been the girls who still grieve over the loss of their mother.

It’s their father. Cold, mysterious and moody, with an icy stare that seems to penetrate your soul, King Aksel may have hired me to take care of his daughters but he wants as little to do with me as possible.

Yet the longer I share these palace walls with this man, the more that I’m drawn to him. His chiseled face and sexual swagger are only part of the package. It’s in the long, intense glances at the dinner table, the way we’ll brush up against each other in the halls, the rare glimpses of the man deep inside, like the sun passing through clouds.

But no matter how I feel about him, we can never be together. You think it’s bad enough being in love with your boss? Try falling in love with a king.
A Nordic King.jpg
Overall thoughts: Karina Halle is an amazing writer and storyteller and A Nordic King is some of her best work yet. From the moment I read the first page I was memorized with the way she talked about love and I was hooked and couldn’t put the book down. There were moments in the beginning where I wasn’t sure if I was going to continue liking the direction A Nordic King was going,  but I am seriously head over heels for this book!

After King Aksel suffers a horrible tragedy, he is trying to figure out how to live his life, father his two young daughters, run his country and deal with the death of his Queen. Enter Aurora, the bright, sassy, fun loving nanny; the goddess (the nickname the two young princesses give her) just wants to do the best she can, help the young princesses be happy again and overall just be successful.

She wasn’t expecting to feel attracted to the grumpy King and Aksel certainly didn’t want to fall for the nanny of his children but that’s exactly what happens. The chemistry that builds between Aurora and Aksel is both frustrating and wonderful. Dislike turns into like, like turns into respect, respect turns into attraction and attraction turns into love. But a nanny and a King of a country falling for one another and trying to make it into a relationship? Of course there are roadblocks in the way.

A Nordic King was a wonderful contemporary, royal romance read and it will definitely be on my list for the top reads of 2018. I loved this book, the story, the characters, the love that is so well written throughout it all…definitely highly recommended read!

Review: Muse by Katy Evans

Muse_Amazon
The Cover: I was so sure about Muse’s cover at first but after reading the book it embodies Noah perfectly and I love it!

Basics: Muse was released on September 14th 2018 and is 221 pages long. Genre wise it belongs to standalone, romance, complementary romance.

Description: It was supposed to just be a quick trip to Manhattan.
My best friend was heartbroken. She needed support, and I needed inspiration.
I hoped to love the city. Bustling. Crazy. Inspiring New York.

But I ended up at the airport, heading home in the same condition that I arrived. In a rut. Add to all that, missing my flight and losing my laptop—the laptop, where the Best Love Story Ever sat on my hard drive.

Enter Noah Steele. Eerily familiar. Movie star. Heartthrob. Sultry romeo with bedroom eyes. (But we’re not going there.) He missed his flight too. Noah is so smoldering, lip-bitingly hot, he’s not taken seriously as an actor, and is struggling to launch his career in New York.

He’s only ever had superficial girlfriends, so he’s having trouble showing true passion in his acting—the same challenge I’m having with this book. When we met, we didn’t know that our connection would bring us the change we’d been craving.

That we’d be the very thing the other needed and didn’t know. Each other’s muse.

*This book is a complete standalone and no previous reading is necessary to enjoy.*
Muse.jpg

Overall thoughts: Katy Evans does it again! Muse was everything I wanted and more! Great funny and relatable characters, swoon worthy romance and overall a very loving and heartwarming story. Becka is an aspiring romance author currently trying to dish out her latest book, unfortunately her muse doesn’t seem to want to cooperate. New York City isn’t what she thought it would be and she’s ready to go back home, that is until she loses her laptop which holds all of her writing. Did I mention she loses her laptop at an airport?!

Noah is an actor who is trying to catch his big break but is struggling. When he misses his flight and sees Becka having a panic attack after losing her laptop, he thinks he’s found the perfect distraction from the frustrations of his acting career. And the rest? I’ll let you get Muse and figure out on your own because it is magical! I know for some readers it is annoying and unrealistic when couples hit it off right away but for me I find it beautifully romantic. Becka and Noah fall for each other this way and I just love them! They are definitely my new favorite couple and I know that I won’t be getting over them any time soon!

Muse is one of the best romance reads of the year! It is fast paced, laugh out loud funny and filled with steamy toe curling romantic goodness! A must read and another classic to add to your romance book collection!

Review: My Best Friend’s Ex by Meghan Quinn

unnamed.jpg
The Cover: I love how the cover model is looking at the reader with smolder eyes, it’s very mesmerizing.

Basics: My Best Friend’s Ex was released on June 1st 2017 and is 407 pages long. Genre wise My Best Friend’s Ex belongs to contemporary romance, romance, family and drama.

Description: When I found an eviction notice taped on my apartment door, I had two options: find a comfortable cardboard box to call home, or move in with Tucker Jameson.

Seeing that cardboard makes me feel itchy, I chose the latter. Which shouldn’t be that big of a deal since Tucker is one of my good friends. And because he’s still pining after his ex-girlfriend and I’m trying to finish my nursing degree, there is nothing to worry about in the romance department, making my last semester an easy one to conquer.

Boy, was I wrong. Rules are set, dinners are made, conversations are had, and a shirtless, swoony roommate walks around in nothing but a pair of black briefs, ruining me for every other man.

Before I know it, I turn into a panting, lust-filled woman begging for Tucker to kiss me, touch me, and show me exactly what is hiding under those briefs. But with great orgasms, comes great consequences.

Tucker might be my friend and roommate but he’s also my best friend’s ex-boyfriend, making him completely off-limits. At least that’s what my brain is telling me, my heart is speaking an entirely different language.

Overall thoughts: I LOVED My Best Friend’s Ex! It is now my favorite book of Meghan Quinn’s and I seriously want Tucker and Emma’s relationship to last forever. This book was steamy, had the perfect amount of humor and sexual tension. But most of all, My Best Friend’s Ex focuses on real life issues and Meghan Quinn has a gift for writing such heart wrenching, wonderful, contemporary romances. She sucks you in the the main couple bickering one chapter and the next chapter you’ll be hugging onto your kindle and crying. Which for me is great but I read to escape the daily stresses of everyday life but at the same time…sometimes you just need to feel things and cry! And Meghan Quinn is my go to author for this because she makes me cry and feel good because everything truly does work out one way or another. My Best Friend’s Ex is in the running to be one of my favorite and best reads of 2017. Highly recommend!

Favorite Quotes: “Is this new a rule? Must meet roommate at door?” Yes because you came home to me. -Emma & Tucker

Our souls connect in this moment. It’s as though we’re making a silent vow to one another that our friendship will never be the same, but what resides in our near future has the promise of parallel serendipity beyond anything we’ve ever experienced. -Tucker

About the Author: A BLONDE AT HEART: Meghan Quinn was born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if “It’s Raining Men” starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.

Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing… enter her first novel, Caught Looking.

Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Review & Release Blitz: Kiss My Ash by Leddy Harper

KissMyAsh_ecover (1)

The Cover: I don’t know but I literally have seen dozens of book covers this summer with shirtless models, not that I’m complaining or find them unattractive, BUT why are there so many?! Seriously? This cover is gorgeous but it doesn’t say Asher to me! Especially considering through Kiss My Ash he seventeen to eighteen years old.

Basics: Kiss My Ash was released on August 9th 2018, published by Leddy Harper and is 288 pages long. Genre wise Kiss My Ash belongs to contemporary romance and age gap romance.

Description: Ash Jenkins was the typical boy next door. Wait, who am I kidding? There was nothing typical about that boy.

He was tall, ripped, and had the voice of a man twice his age. Intelligent, sexy as sin, and barely legal. Sent to live with his dad after getting in some trouble with the law, he was definitely someone I needed to stay away from.

But he had his sights set on me, and he didn’t try to hide it.
Did it still make me a cougar if I was the prey?
Kiss My Ash.jpgOverall thoughts: Kiss My Ash by Leddy Harper is the embodiment of forbidden romance with a modern twist. There has been a lot of age gap/difference romances I’ve been reading lately but Harper really pushed the envelope with Kiss My Ash. I am open to reading about all sorts of different relationships and romances because one, it gets a bit repetitive if  I’m reading the same song and dance over and over; and two I really like diversity when it comes to reading. Again, I’ve read age gap romances before but nothing has been so risky since I finished with Kiss My Ash

Kristy just moved into a new home and neighborhood, she’s setting down roots so her daughter can finish out her high school career in peace. While moving into her house all by herself, she gets help from one of her next door neighbors. A very hot, young look man who is equally attracted to her as she is to him. Problem is, Asher doesn’t turn eighteen for several months. He’s always been into the older crowd than his peers, so naturally he would be attracted to an older woman. Kristy thinks he’s in his twenties and Asher? Well…he just goes with it. They have this incredible connection and chemistry, surely telling her he’s eighteen in a few months wouldn’t ruin everything. There’s no touching and he’s being careful as their relationship grows….until everything blows up.

I love Kristy and Asher! Their attraction and love for each other is very heartwarming and endearing. They want to be together but are dealing with this horrible age gap between them, Asher doesn’t care and poor Kristy is horrified to see hear daughter’s reaction. Did I mention Asher and Kristy’s daughter go to school together? It wouldn’t be a good romance book if it didn’t have drama in it!

I loved Kiss My Ash and Kristy and Asher melted my heart. I also love the risk Leddy Harper takes in each and every one of her books and it is definitely a classic for any forbidden romance lover fan.

Leddy Harper
About the Author:

Leddy Harper had to use her imagination often as a child. She grew up the only girl in a house full of boys. At the age of fourteen, she decided to use that imagination and wrote her first book, and never stopped.

She often calls writing her therapy, using it as a way to deal with issues through the eyes of her characters. She is now a mother of three girls, leaving her husband as the only man in a house full of females.

The decision to publish her first book was made as a way of showing her children to go after whatever it is they want to. Love what you do and do it well. Most importantly Leddy wanted to teach them what it means to overcome their fears.

Review & Excerpt: It Seemed Like A Good Idea A The Time by Kylie Scott

ISLAGIATT FOR WEB
The Cover: I really like It Seemed Like A Good Idea A The Time and it’s very aesthetically pleasing with the background, font and cover model. However I do wish there was more of Pete in it and more of his essence and not just his abs.

Basics:  It Seemed Like A Good Idea A The Time was released on August 7th 2018 and is 316 pages long. Genre wise It Seemed Like A Good Idea A The Time belongs to contemporary romance and age gap romance.

Description: Returning home for her father’s wedding was never going to be easy for Adele. If being sent away at eighteen hadn’t been bad enough, the mess she left behind when she made a pass at her dad’s business partner sure was.

Fifteen years older than her, Pete had been her crush for as long as she could remember. But she’d misread the situation—confusing friendliness for undying love. Awkward. Add her father to the misunderstanding, and Pete was left with a broken nose and a business on the edge of ruin. The man had to be just as glad as everyone else when she left town.

Seven years later, things are different. Adele is no longer a kid, but a fully grown adult more than capable of getting through the wedding and being polite. But all it takes is seeing him again to bring back those old feelings. Sometimes first loves are the truest.
Good-Idea-promo-4.jpg
Excerpt: It was meant to be a soft kiss. A chaste one, even.

The minute my lips touched his, however, everything changed. Callused hands grabbed the sides of my face and my mouth opened on a gasp. His tongue swept inside, taking me over. Holy hell. Shoes and purse hit the floor, forgotten. Nothing about this kiss was slow or easy. The man devoured me. Every ounce of emotion poured into that kiss, all of the anger and frustration between us. His tongue was teasing and tasting, driving me wild. Then he drew back to suck and nip at my bottom lip. One hand slid around the back of my neck, the other over my hip to grab at my ass. His hold was firm, a little rough even. He treated my body like it belonged to him and I wasn’t gentle either.

Apparently experience mattered. Because all I could do was try and keep up.

I held on tight to his open shirt, straining against him, trying to get closer. I’d have crawled inside the man if I could. Turned out that under certain circumstances, the taste of scotch worked for me in a big way. Against my hip, his cock hardened, digging into me. And oh my God, I’d done that to him. Me. How amazing! Meanwhile, my body felt liquid, core aching and empty. I needed him inside of me and it seemed like I’d already been waiting forever.

“Pete. Please.”

“Fuck,” he muttered, breath hot against my ear.

I fumbled at the remaining buttons on his shirt. My damn fingers didn’t seem to be working. Easier to just push the whole thing upward. Luckily, the man decided to help, tearing the shirt off over his head. More skin was good. And he was so hot and smooth, a thrill to the touch. The solid flesh of his pecs and the flat plane of his stomach.

He tore at the zipper on the back of my dress, dragging fabric down over my shoulders. A growl came from the back of his throat, a noise of frustration, impatience. I’m reasonably certain I heard the silk rip. I didn’t care. His hands and mouth seemed to cover every bit of skin revealed, touching and tasting me everywhere. The dress got stuck on my hips. Out of the way enough for now.

He didn’t even bother undoing my bra, simply peeling down one of the lace cups to free my flesh. My breast filled his hot palm as it took the weight. Fingers plumped me, his thumb flicking over my hard nipple. The sting of pain followed by the heat of his kiss made my head spin and my body ache. There was no room for thought as he fed me deep, wet kisses. Slowly, he took us to the floor. No time for anything else. Just the urgent need to have him inside me.

The hardness of the polished wood was cool against my back. My legs were spread, his body between them. And with his broad chest above me, his weight taken on one arm, he was all I could see. I swear even the insides of my thighs were wet, I was so ready. It would have been embarrassing with anybody else. But this man, he had to know, he had to understand. It had always been him.

“Pete, I need—”

“I know,” he said, voice harsh and low.

It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time Overall thoughts: It Seemed Like A Good Idea A The Time by Kylie Scott is one of the best reads of the Summer! One of my favorite genres of romance to read about is age gap/difference romance and honestly? It’s a breath of fresh air because every relationship is different and these two, Adele and Pete have heck of a backstory and connection.

Adele is back home visiting her father for his upcoming wedding, trouble is she hasn’t visited for a very long time due to the incident. Yes…THE incident. No spoilers but the pure teenage angst, love and overall feel of the incident was such a teenager thing to do that I am still laughing about it weeks later. Adele is a precious cinnamon roll and I adore her.

Pete and Adele have a complicated history and complicated relationship with mountains and mountains of desire for each other and it’s one heck of a mess to sort through. Overall I really loved Adele and Pete as a couple, I think the whole age gap issue isn’t a big deal considering I myself am married to another man and I also found it refreshing because it’s not written about much. Lately age gap romance is becoming more popular yes, but before? Not so much.

The only issue I had with It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time was PETE. I have a love-hate relationship with the man! Oh my goodness! He drove me NUTS. In a good and bad way! But the angst and self hate thing he deals with because he wants Adele and the fact  she is younger and he feels bad about it drove me BANANAS. You are attracted to her, you were close with her and share a connection…accept it already! If it’s legal…who cares! But also reading about him struggling for his feelings with Adele and wanting/loving her made me swoon too, so I can’t complain too much!

It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time will definitely one of my favorite reads of the summer! Adele and Pete have one of the best static age gap romances I have ever read about and I adore them!

Review: Poor Unfortunate Soul: A Tale of the Sea Witch by Serena Valentino

41e6EaNZGKL.jpg
The Cover: I really love this cover especially for a retelling according to the villain’s side of the story. Everyone knows The Little Mermaid and Ursula is one of the most iconic villains ever and I really like this cover. What I also really loved about Poor Unfortunate Soul was the fact that when you remove the cover sleeve, the cover becomes Ursula’s human counterpart, Vanessa.

Basics: Poor Unfortunate Soul was released on July 26th 2016, published by Disney Press and is 208 pages long. It is the the third book in the Villans trilogy. Genre wise Poor Unfortunate Soul belongs to Young Adult and Fantasy.

Description: The third novel in Serena Valentino’s (Fairest of All, Beast Within) “VILLAINS” trilogy, featuring the story of the Little Mermaid from the perspective of the sea witch Ursula.
Poor Unforunate Soul
Overall thoughts: I am a huge Disney fan! Since I was little I loved everything Disney and it’s no surprise that I adore The Little Mermaid! Considering the basis of this blog’s design is based off beachy style! I was in Barnes & Nobles several months ago when I saw on one of the display shelves that Disney Published and author Serena Valentino teamed up to write books based off Disney villain’s points of views. I immediately grabbed Ursula’s book, Poor Unfortunate Soul. I just finished reading it recently and I was completely blown away!

I’ve read a lot of difference versions of retellings of fairy-tales but not like this! I like reading from different types of perspectives: good guy, bad guy, etc. There’s always two sides to a story and Poor Unfortunate Soul definitely tells you Ursula’s side of the story and then some! Valentino adds some other interesting details in Poor Unfortunate Soul that literally had me pausing my reading and saying, “Wait…what?!”

Ursula is still herself in this book and she is definitely evil too, but Valentino adds more depth to the sea witch and she actually made me feel bad for her. Seriously. Overall Poor Unfortunate Soul is any fantasy, fairy tale, Disney lover’s dream. It is part of Valentino’s Villain’s trilogy series and can be read as a standalone but I feel like the reader would understand the book and series better if they had read the other books in the series, which I plan on doing very soon!

Review & Release Blitz: Playboy by Katy Evans

Playboy-Amazon
The Cover: I think the cover for Playboy is gorgeous and the yellow with the greyscale is gorgeous but this is seriously like the millionth shirtless book cover I have seen this year! I mean probably not the millionth cover, but it certainly feels like it! That being said it definitely reminds me of Cullen and has calm, cocky, sexy attitude and I love it.

Basics: Playboy was released on July 29th 2018, published by CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform and is 338 pages long. Genre wise Playboy is contemporary romance and standalone.

Description: It started as a game. We flirted. We played. Most importantly—we won.
Then I discovered who he was: Gambler. Famous playboy. Silver-eyed player who never plays to lose…and my best friend’s soon-to-be brother in law, Cullen Carmichael.

He needed a good luck charm, I needed a distraction.
So we made a gamble and set off for Vegas—but pretty soon—I was in too deep.
My heart, soul, and body weren’t supposed to be part of the deal.
But somewhere between big wins and long nights, my house of cards started to tumble.
What was this devil with those piercing eyes doing to me?
I’d given up on love, but the wicked, all-in Cullen Carmichael was upping the ante and wouldn’t stop until he’d won it all.

Overall thoughts: Wow! Woooooow! WOW!! I was completely and utterly blown away and destroyed by Playboy! As many of you know, I am the biggest Katy Evans fangirl EVER and Remy from her first book, Real is my hero. But Cullen gives Remy one heck of a run for number one guy! I fell SO hard for Cullen, oh my goodness! What a character, what a man!

Playboy is part of the Manwhore series universal but definitely can be read a standalone. I definitely loved how all the other characters were included in Cullen and Wynn’s story, everyone is married and riding off into the sunset it seems…except for gallery owner and hopeless romantic Wynn. She is getting over a bad, bad break up and is determined to leave her loser ex in the dust behind her. I don’t blame the girl either, her ex was HORRIBLE. Horrible to the point where Wynn suddenly swears off men…until she meets the Playboy that is.

Meeting Cullen changes everything; Wynn is attracted to him, intrigued and when he offers an escape to Vegas she takes it and their trip changes everything between them. I love and I mean LOVE these two together. They are such a special couple and Evans does a fantastic job with them, they leap off the pages of Playboy and dive deep into your heart making a home there.

No spoilers, but one of the many specials things about Katy Evans as a writer is how she makes each book and couple so relatable. Wynn and Cullen deal with something that 44% American couples face every day and I am really glad and thankful that Katy included this in their love story. I loved Playboy so much, it will definitely be one of my favorite books of the summer and the year!

Review: Flirt by ML Sparrow

2017-471 M L Sparrow, b02
The Cover: I really love this cover! I think it’s a strong image and it embodies Riley perfectly.

Basics: Flirt was released on July 27th 2018 and is 266 pages long. Genre wise Flirt belongs to contemporary romance.

Description: Flirting never hurt…
Forced to give up her promising gymnastics career due to a devastating injury, Riley Murphy decides to join her twin sister at St Joseph’s University in Texas. Finding a best friend in her roommate, Chloe, she nonetheless finds herself going off the rails as she indulges in drugs, alcohol and boys. However, playing quickly turns into something she can’t control… Too ashamed to confide in her friends or family, and with a boyfriend who does nothing but feed her addictions, the person she turns to is Cameron Lucas, someone she knew as a child.

Cam’s loved Riley since he used to go to work with his mama at the Murphy estate, but she was always so far out of his league. Now he’s beginning to realize that he never really knew her in the first place… However, that realization only deepens his feelings. But the question is, how far is he willing to go to help someone who won’t help them self? And can he discover the demons driving her to self-destruct?
*Contains scenes of drug and alcohol abuse.*

Overall thoughts: Flirt is a book about a college student struggling to find her way; I think it’s super hard when something changes your life forever, especially when you can’t continue what you thought you would do. In this case  Riley Murphy gymnastics career is over, which personally I think is one of the hardest sporting events in history. It takes YEARS to do what men and women when it comes to gymnastics. So learning that you suddenly can’t do it anymore is truly devastating.

So what does every college student tend to do when their dream suddenly ends? Make bad decisions. I certainly didn’t enjoy that aspect of Flirt, I felt like it was a important component of Riley’s story and I get why it was included, but I really didn’t enjoy reading about it. However to ease that uncomfortableness comes in the form of Riley’s childhood friend Cameron Lucas. Things get interesting to stay the least, especially when suddenly you see someone you grew up with in a different light and immediately things change between them. Things get super interesting once this occurs.

If you like college romances with angsty drama, Flirt is the read for you. I liked it a lot, however the writing and pace didn’t always hold my attention. But I feel like this issue will improve with each book ML Sparrow continues and I look forward to her future releases.

Review: Ladies Man by Katy Evans

51VIfw03U-L._SX326_BO1,204,203,200_27231804

The Cover: Ladies Man got a new cover this year (2018) and while it’s super attractive and great to look at, I am SO mourning the old cover! I loved the old cover because I truly believed it showed Tahoe’s spirit and I just think it’s gorgeous! The new cover is nice but I prefer the old one.

Basics: Ladies Man was released on April 26th 2016, published by CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, is 290 pages long and is part of the Manwhore series. Genre wise Ladies Man belongs to contemporary romance and standalone.

Description: He’s not the guy you date. He’s the one night stand.

You’d think the man who sends hot looks my way, who called me succulent, would want to strip me to my skin and spread me out on his bed like every other woman in Chicago.

Except he passed on my offer…. Just like I once did on his. He’s wary, like I am. He’s broken, like I am. And everyone knows two broken parts can’t ever make a whole.

So I try to distract myself. I’m back to dating.Tahoe and I are strictly friends. He doesn’t think my new beau is good enough, but to him, no man is good enough for me. Especially Tahoe himself. But the more time Tahoe and I spend around each other, the more confused I feel.

I’m trying to open myself to love. But I’m quickly realizing that the only man I want is stubborn, cocky, unattainable playboy Tahoe Roth.

The one your mother warned you about.
The one my body craves.
The only one who will surely break my heart.
Ladie's Man.jpg
Overall thoughts: Ladies Man is one my favorite books ever and of Katy Evan’s. Tahoe Roth is such a gorgeous, sexy, complex character. Whereas Gina is the beautiful, strong, stubborn woman trying to find her way in this complicated world we have. She is very independent and although she has good friends, tends to find herself riding solo not just with her social life but also when to family and relationships. Tahoe and Gina have been dancing around each other for awhile, both of their friends fell in love and got married…their social circles forever intertwined.  They start off as “friends” but start to change and grow into something that both surprises and terrifies them. Did I mention how much I love this book?!

Gina and Tahoe have such a wonderful love story. Ladies Man is one of the best slow burning romance books I have ever read. Don’t get me wrong, it drove me nuts because I just wanted them to be together already, but these two are definitely worth the wait and angst. Their attraction and need for each other go so much deeper than lust and the love they have for each other is so heartwarming. I seriously love them. I wish Katy had written ten more books about them honestly.

Ladies Man is part of the Manwhore series but can be read as a standalone. You don’t have to know what’s going on in the other Manwhore books but I feel like if you have read the other Manwhore books it makes reading Ladies Man much more special. Again Ladies Man is one of my favorite books ever, it’s been two years and I am still obsessed with Tahoe and Gina. I probably will be for the rest of my life and I can guarantee you’ll love them too!

Favorite Quotes: “Love should make you feel good about yourself and about the person you are when you’re with the one you love. Love should make you feel accepted a you are.” -Gina

“I love every part of you. I could be a thousand miles away from you, stay away from you my whole life, put an ocean between us, take a million other women in my arms, and you’re still the one I want, the only woman on my mind.” -Tahoe
