The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, I relaunched the meme on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end on Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog. All credits & info go to this page <—
This week I chose a question from February: do you prefer to blog about (a) specific book genre(s), or do you have an eclectic blog?
Wow! I honestly feel like this question could be answered in several ways but I honestly think that my blog is eclectic. When I first started book blogging in September 2016 I honestly was just focused on the romance genre. I used to read all different genres of books but something just shifted in the Spring of 2016 and it honestly disappointed me.
I’ve always been a fan of Young Adult (YA) books but there were two books that I read during the Spring of 2016 that literally made me stop reading YA all together. They were THAT bad. My other issue with Young Adult books is the fact that they take FOREVER to release! By forever I mean a year up to two years. I understand that logically it makes sense to release books that way but I lose interest really fast and I don’t like waiting! I am a very impatient person and even more of an impatient reader. Unless a book or series really captures my heart, I usually lose interest.
So when I first started blogging I mainly focused on the romance genre which I love! Most books end with happy endings, most releases take a few months and NOT years to release the second book in the series which is huge to me. There’s just something about romance books that I love; ever since I was little I was infuriated with love so I also think that has something to do with it. Another reason I love the romance genre is also because there are SO many different kinds of love and with every book I read I find something new to read about it. It’s also a genre that I feel like that in some shape or form that everyone can find something to relate to. Which is a bit difficult when it comes to YA genre because how we are supposed to relate to things like The Hunger Games or aliens invading our planet? I mean I don’t get right sometimes I do feel like we live in a dystopian world but we aren’t there quite yet.
For the longest time I focused on the romance genre when it came to reading, reviewing and promoting books. I tried to get back into the YA genre lots of times but everything I kept reading just disappointed it. It took a year and a half ,but I finally started reading and reviewing the YA genre again in July 2017, I haven’t stopped since AND I haven’t disappointed so maybe I just needed a break from that genre!
Overall I would say Amorette Review’s is a eclectic blog. I love romance but this past year I’ve really tried to get back into YA, fantasy, mature adult and I feel like overall I’m slowly but surely achieving that. That’s the best part of loving and reading books is that you can fall in love with any genre type book, at the end of the day no matter what genre is you essentially just adding another genre to your book collection!
When it comes to blogging, what kind of genres do you focus on when it comes to your blog? Comment and let me know! I would love to hear your thoughts!
